How to achieve the most offensive power early game.

its very simple and i would consider the meta of this game. i hope the devs dont nerf it because it's so much fun to do. this is not a guide on how to play defensively, however a good offense is the best defense, leaving less room for error as it can take only a few seconds to wipe out your enemy from a distance.

your first 5 talent points go into obtaining 20% more xp, obviously. once you get 5 more talent points, put them into cannon cooldown reduction, or as i like to call, ccdr. then look for an ability famously known as pee on those cannons. spam press both LT and RT (alternating between the 2) and finally see the game balanced against overpowered opponents that melt your hull in 2 volleys. the great thing about this is now you can build up your hull health and armor without feeling like you need more damage.

with level 60 legendary pee by endgame, my base 5 ccdr cannon will have a ccdr of -0.1. thats completely unnecessary, as youll see little difference, so you may want to respend some of the talent points from ccdr into something else, like long-range cannon damage and crit chance increase. the point here is the increase in duration. with this, other cdr talents, and duration increase talents from the voodoo tree, it will always be active, allowing you to set it up before combat so you have other skills to use during combat when you need them. this is still true early game, but you just have less of a window with lower level pee duration, in which i would recommend getting 5 ccdr cannons with minimum range, as theyll give you the most damage per cannon ball, unless you need the extra range.

feel like taking on king of seas difficulty yet? you will after you try this. have a good time burning, looting, and murdering with this guide, and remember to keep this a secret so the devs dont nerf it.

New Patch UPDATE 9/18/2021
calculations to cannon reload speed with ccdr factors were nerfed early game in the last patch. everything else works the same way. late game, you can still achieve the same results with base 3 cannon reload speed before finding high level pee on those cannons, or possibly it is best to stick with base 3. more testing is needed to be certain. using this method early game may still be meta, especially for raiding bases, as cannons are the only way to damage them. i would still recommend long range just to keep yourself at a safe distance. also with the new camera settings, the brig is much more meta with the unique boost ability you get for it to keep yourself able to escape in a pinch, or simply travel, but most importantly without running into unforeseen terrain.
Further Investigation UPDATE 7/30/2022
i played a little more into the game and noticed a few things. the galleon's fortress ability is bugged in a bad way when it comes to ccdr. i also noticed ships balanced in a unique way. for example, the brig has a much shorter range, with shorter ccdr, but the galleon has much longer range that packs a bigger punch, and 10% longer ccdr. with that being said, i've decided the brig is the best ship for this strat because of that natural 10% ccdr along with an ability that lets you travel faster. this ship will get you places very quickly, and be able to get your ccdr under .5 (or .4) sec. the ccdr is most important because even in the frigate, i wasn't able to spam fire the canons where i could in the brig after peeing on those canons. until you actually find your pee, it may be best to stick with the frigate if you like combat because of the hurricane ability, you can force ships to crash into terrain and waste them away with tentacle slap and standard canon fire, and also because you wont be taking down forts for a while. and remember to always always always have ethereal navigation. you will never die with well timed usage of this ability, especially against forts while fighting 4+ ships later in the game, and early game when you get caught off guard by a surprisingly powerful enemy.

i can confirm this strategy still works early game for that good offensive power. i just kept doing noncombat quests until i found a strong enough build for combat. although i was not able to achieve a low enough ccdr to spam fire, the ccdr was low enough to still pack a very big punch. until you get that low enough ccdr (meaning higher level pee on those canons), i still recommend the frigate for that extra canon range and wider volley of shots. consider the galleon if your at the point of destroying bases yet. a more dense volley of shots means more hits on those little towers.

ok thx for confirming, i kinda figured something like hat happened cuz ive seen what you were talking bout but never could get it to work. unless you do the ability equip cooldown trick, doing that trick you can get the buffs to stack for a short period, long enough to lay waste to anything anyways lol.

so i can confirm that this strat still works, but not as strong in the early game. they nerfed the calculations, so you have to get base 3 cannon reload speed cannons until way late game.

xenomorph, im quite certain the devs nerfed this after the latest patch. i'll need to test the cannon rate of fire with maximum possible ccdr with both low level pee on those cannons and high level, then with and without talents in ccdr to see for myself. i'm hoping it's just a bug because if they intentionally nerfed it this hard, it's no longer worth building ccdr.

I'm not sure about you but I got "pee on those cannons" that early in the game and my cannons fire no where near fast enought to call it spamming. Cuz I got it immediately after capping the ccdr ability and it's nothing special at all. With cannons that reload in 3, with the pee ability active I'm only reloading in 1.5 , In order for me to be able to justify "spamming" I have to do the "ability equip quick cooldown" trick to get pee on those cannons to stack and then I can spam the cannon fire. But even then my reload time is still only 0.36
