I'm pretty sure steamOS is a gaming OS. Linux isn't a gaming or coding OS but rather anything you need it to be, for there are many Linux distros out there. For example OP is using Arch, which you can customize for whatever you need.
I'm no expert so I wouldn't use Arch, but I swapped from Win10 to Mint last year and I am more than happy with it. The only merit of using windows for gaming at this point, is if you want to use the Xbox Game Pass.
