Preface

Dungeons of Dredmor is a fun and addicting rogue-like with 124 achievements. Most of them are for completing a certain skill-tree or dying at the hands of almost all kinds of enemies/diggles.

I am not a Dungeons of Dredmor expert, I just like to do achievements and want to share my experiences.
This guide does not explain how to best fight and kill Lord Dredmor or Vlad Digula.

ADVICE: Use the Easy-Mode without permadeath for almost every achievement run!
Basic Achievements (Kill X Diggles, Monster Zoo, Crafting, Traps)
Ornithologist
Kill ten Diggles.

HMS Deagle
Kill a hundred Diggles.

Way of the Dodo
Kill a thousand Diggles.

Simply kill 10/100/1000 Diggles.
I would highly recommend entering the Diggle Hell via the portal generator in the pocket dimension if you want to get these achievements faster, since it is populated by Diggles only. (Don't enter Diggle Hell if you are poorly equipped!)

He Who Smelt It
Make an Ingot.

Make an ingot by using the Disposable Ingot Press. If you don't want to search for an ingot press, choose the smithing skill tree and you'll get one at the beginning.
Note: You will need the required ingredient to craft an ingot like hematite, zincblende, cassiterite, malachite etc.

It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Make This
Make a Weapon.

Craft a weapon using e.g the Travel Anvil. Open your crafting menu by pressing R and look what you need for creating a simple weapon.
Three easy ones:
Crude iron sword -> Two iron ingots
Crude knife -> One iron ingot
Bo staff -> Hefty Stick

Personal Protection
Make a piece of Armour.

Same but for armour.

Diggle Nog!
Make some Diggle Nog. Who doesn't love a nice cold glass of Diggle Nog?

Start off with the Alchemy skill, and look for a Diggle egg and a Grog.

The Lake Wobegon Achievement
Eat some Lutefisk.

Nothing to explain here. Just eat one of these: .

Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?
Find a Monster Zoo.

Bloody Mess
Kill a Monster Zoo. All of it.

You will probably find a monster zoo in your very first playthrough, clearing it is quite easy as well. Just make sure that you can only be attacked by one monster at time by luring them into a small passage. Do NOT go into a corner or a dead end, since there is a high chance of being encountered with various boss monsters in a monster zoo.

He Chose... Poorly
Trigger 50 traps.

The Penitent Man Shall Pass
Disarm 50 traps.

Trigger/Disarm 50 traps.
Since triggering the traps will unlock in your very first hours there is no need to do this on purpose, unless you feel healthy enough to take the damage.
What you should do, is disarming the traps whenever you can. You'll need the bonus EXP and it doesn't hurt to make sure that your eventual escape way is safe.
Entering Diggle Hell and Wizardlands
If Lost, Please Return to Wonkdonkler
Find a Set of Wizard Keys.

Usually be found on the first couple floors.

Hell Is Other Diggles
Enter Diggle Hell.

When you found the Wizard Keys you have a blue portal icon next to your skills on the bottom right, click on that portal and you are in your pocket dimension, then go up to the portal generator and enter some gibberish into the text-field. The portal should be red now and you are able to enter the Diggle Hell.

The portal should look like this: .

Faust
Make a deal with the Diggle God of Hell.

To make a deal with the Diggle God of Hell you need to find his statue in the Diggle Hell. However, the statue isn't in every hell, so it should take you some runs to finally get to find one.

Simon Belmont
Kill Vlad Digula.

One of the hardest achievements. Vlad can also be found in a Diggle Hell. But be careful, he is even stronger than Lord Dredmor.

The Magic of the Wizard's Hangover
Complete a Wizardland.

As soon as you find a rainbow-coloured graffiti on the wall, write down the word and use it at the portal generator in your pocket dimension. The portal should be blue now and you can enter a Wizardland. They are not as hard as Diggle Hells but you can get surrounded easily and they tend to be full of boss monsters. So be prepared.
All Skill Tree Based Achievements
And a looooooot more

The biggest part of the achievements: Maxing out every skill tree in the game.
To do so, you should play on Elvishly Easy without permadeath and with smaller floors and choose tanky skill trees like Mastery of Arms, Shield and Smithing everytime. This will make sure that you stay alive until you get one skill tree maxed out. Then start a new game with the same skill-set, except the one certain skill-tree that you just maxed out.
Dying All Various Types Achievements
Again you should use any difficulty without Permadeath since you want to save the game before getting killed by the certain enemies. Simply reload after dying and continue to the next enemy that is connected with a "getting killed by"-achievement.

Welcome to Dredmor
Get killed at the hands (flippers?) of a Diggle.

I Smoulder With Generic Rage
Get killed at the hands of an Enraged Diggle.

Gesundheit
Get killed at the hands of a Sickly Diggle.

Meet Your True Master
Get killed at the hands of an Arch Diggle.

Some Of Them Are Thirsty
Get killed by a Thirsty Diggle.

Be All You Can Be
Get killed at the hands of a Diggle Commando.

I Don't Remember Their Names, But They're Hungry
Get killed by a Hungry Diggle. We'll let you speculate about what happens next.

If you find any of these diggle types (Enraged, Sickly, Arch, Thirsty, Commando and Hungry) save the game, put off all your equipment and continuously press spacebar when they are attacking you. Then reload and look for the next one.

98 Pound Weakling
Die at the hands of a Muscle Diggle.

Paved With Good Intentions
Get killed by a Demon Diggle.

To get killed by a Muscle Diggle and a Demon Diggle you should enter Diggle Hell as described earlier, clear the room and just let the Muscle/Demon Diggle alive and press spacebar.

Normandy
Die on Floor 1; play a new character with the same skills... and die on Floor 1.

Play on the hardest difficulty with permadeath and let yourself get killed by the first enemy you encounter. Then start a new game with the SAME skill-set as before and get yourself killed by the first enemy you encounter, again.

The Sea is a Cruel Mistress
Drown.

There are different ways to die by drowning. One option is to choose vampirism and level up until you can transform into a batty. Then simply fly above a field of water and press spacebar until your transformation ends.

Boil Water Advisory
Die by drinking acid from a fountain.

This one is quite difficult and based on some luck. What you need is a room with fountains, of course, and acid, spells or enemies that can hurt you before you drink from the fountain. Another effective way is the vampirism skill tree, since you can't regenerate hp by walking, get down to 1 hp by running into traps or by being attacked and then drink and with some luck you will get burned by acid.

Perilous Podiatry
Die by kicking a door down.

Same here. Look for a door that is locked and make sure that you do not have any lockpicks in your inventory. Then drink acid, burn yourself with fire, get hit by enemies, just drop to low hp a creative way. Now kick the door and hope that you will break every single toe.

It's MY Dungeon
Get killed at the hands of Lord Dredmor.

Get killed by Lord Dredmor. The worst achievement you can get when playing with permadeath. So I suggest playing without when aiming for this achievement. Lord Dredmor is on floor 10 when playing without the DLC otherwise he is on floor 15.

Heroic Failure
Die during the tutorial.

Play a tutorial level where you have to kill enemies, make them attack you and press spacebar.

Your Kung Fu is Weak
Die to an enemy counter-attack.

Dying to a counter attack is RNG only. I did this one with a level ~10 character in Diggle Hell: Unequip your weapon and attack a demon/arch or muscle Diggle and it will probably counter attack you to death. Also done against Dredmor himself, since he tends to counter attack more often.

Accidents Happen
Enrage the Shopkeeper.

Crime Doesn't Pay
Get killed by Brax.

Respect Mah Authoritah
Get killed by a Dread Collector.

If you find a shopkeeper, save the game, take an item (don't buy it) and walk out or hit him with a skill/bolt/thrown weapon. This will enrage the shopkeeper and the first achievement is yours. Then just get killed by either the shopkeeper or his henchman, the Dread Collectors. Load the game and get yourself killed again by the other one.

My Humps
Get killed at the "hands" of a Thrusty.

Get killed by a Thrusty. To be found on the middle stages 4,5,6.

Not the Bees!
Die at the hands of Thaumites.

Honey Badger Don't Care
Survive an accidental, or deliberate, Thaumiting.

Thaumites are found in traps (Thaumite nest) and are extremely dangerous. So dying by them is fairly easy if you don't have any potions. Surviving is easy as well, just make sure you have full hp if you run into the trap. Both surviving and dying will lead to an achievement.
If you are tinkerer you can also build your own Thaumite nest with copper wire, aqua vitae, potion of mana and a pressure plate.
Hidden Achievements
Suddenly The Dungeon Collapses

This is a creative one. Your game has to crash.
Originally posted by AnthroidFox:
While the game is open, CTRL+ALT+DELETE+DELETE to open the task manager, and end Dungeons of Dredmor. The next time you load the game, you get the crash-the-game achievement!

Lutefisk Paradox

Find a Lutefisk Cube, open it and place it inside itself or, if you have two cubes, place one in another.
No Category Achievements, Double Rainbow, Kleptomania ...
Playing For Both Teams
Play both the male and the female hero.

Some players reported that they played male and female and didn't get the achievement. It worked fine for me though.

Taste the Rainbow
Damage an enemy with seven (or more) damage types simultaneously.

Double Rainbow
Damage an enemy with a base damage type and every special damage type simultaneously.

In order to get every damage type possible in the game, you should not use Krong's Anvils at the beginning. Try to get a 8-star weapon, tome or orb, since Krong gives you one enchantment for each star on them. Then go back to every anvil and hope for good enchants. Archaeology lets you reuse the anvil and with the spell "Translation is All Wrong" you can re-roll types on your artifacts.
Potions are quite helpful as well. There are a few potions, which grant several damage types for a few turns:
Righteous: Potion of Radiance
Conflagratory: Infernal Potion
Hyperborean: Hyperborean Potion
Voltaic: Voltaic Potion
Necromantic: Potion of Dire Empowerment or a Fell Truffle
Putrefying: Fell Truffle

Two Krongs Don't Make A Right
Have Krong curse your equipment twice, consecutively.

RNG-based again. There's a 2/7 chance of getting cursed by Krong.
If you try to get the Double Rainbow achievement like I explained above, you will probably get this achievement, too. Archaeology is your friend again, double anvils = double the chance of getting cursed.

This Root Shall Suffer
Imbibe the Root of T'Char.

Eat the Root of T'Char. To be found on the deeper floors.

Look, I'm A Game Developer!
Name the expansion pack.

You need have the free expansion "Name the expansion pack" for Dungeons of Dredmor installed.
Go to the title screen of DoD and click on the square below the "quit"-button until the background with the woman holding the Lutefisk Cube appears, then edit the text below "Dungeons of Dredmor" on the title screen of the game.

Kleptomania
Lose a stack of 100 or more items to a Kleptoblobby, or other Thieving monster.

You can easily get a stack of 100+ items with the Lutefisk Cube, because every item you put into it, will transform into Lutefisk. Another good option is picking up all softballs you can find in the first floors and buy the rest out of the vending machines or pick the Piracy skill tree and get the last skill available. Now you are able to shoot with cannons and every shot fired has a 75 % chance to drop a Solid Shot. Just press spacebar until the spell is ready again and repeat to shoot.
When you finally have a 100+ stack, put it into your fast access belt and put all other items into your bag. Then find a Kleptoblobby on floor 5 and he will steal the stack.

Fruit
Create some Fruit.

Get the Fruitful Staff and hit an enemy with it.
The staff is a quite common drop on the later floors and can be found and bought in the shop. You can also craft it with a secret recipe for alchemy (requires alchemy level 5).

Nothing to See Here, Move Along
Stay invisible for 50 turns.

Take the alchemy skill tree and pick up every Bituminous Coal and Aqua Vitae you find, because you can make potions of invisibility out of them. You'll need three of them to get the achievement. And don't use them all at once, since they won't stack. Use one and only use the next when the first is almost expired.
The Inky Hoglantern mushroom buffs invisibility for 6 turns, too.
Equip X AND Y Achievements
Loyal Soldier of the Empire
Equip the Imperial Boilerplate Armour and the Imperial Boilerplate Helmet.

You Know What Time It Is
Equip the Parachute Pants and the Warhammer.

I Didn't Ask For This
Equip two Clockwork Power Limbs, Two Clockwork Chain Axes, and a Clockwork Bolt Thrower.

Realms of the Id
Equip the Rusty Helm AND the Green Armour.

If you want to go for these achievements, have an eye for the mentioned items. They can be found in shops, they can be dropped and some of them can be crafted:

Warhammer:

Hefty Stick + 2 Iron Ingots

The Clockwork Parts:

Steel Ingot + Spring-loaded Power Core + 2 Brass Mechanisms

Fine Steel Axe + Spring-loaded Power Core + 2 Brass Mechanisms

Steel Recurve Crossbow + Aluminium Tube + Brass Mechanisms + Voltaic Cell

Everybody Loves a Pork Sword
Craft the Omnipotent Pork Sword.

RNG strikes again. You need to find the secret recipe for the Pork Sword first (Smithing 2 needed, so better use Smithing or Clockwerk Knight skill trees for this achievement). If you find a room with more than two bookshelves, save the game, look if the Pork Sword recipe is in there, if not, die to the next enemy and load again. The game will roll new recipes everytime you load.
When you finally have the recipe you'll have to collect three Cubes of Flesh. Use meat wands to get some or use the skill tree "Big Game Hunter", because the second skill Butcher gives you the chance to get flesh out of animals when you attack.
Broken, Bugged and Expired Event Achievements
The Humanoid Typhoon
Master the Deadshot Skill Tree.

The deadshot skill tree was removed from the game, but you can still get the achievement with a little trick that someone posted in the gaslampgames forum:

Open the directory that contains your Dredmor save files. In Windows it's "My Documents\Gaslamp Games\Dungeons of Dredmor\Save" or something. In there you will find a file named "last". It's just a text file that contains the skill ID's of the last 7 skills you picked for your character. Open it in Notepad. Change one of the numbers to 12 and save the file. Now go make a new game and click the Last button when choosing your skills. Deadshot will be one of them. You can remove the other skills if you'd like and add other ones of your choice. All you need to do is hit level 3, because the skill line only contains two skills beyond the first one.

An easier solution is to use the workshop object in Steam called "Deadshot in Your Head", which recreates the skill tree and therefore gives the opportunity to do the achievement.

Sewer Brew

Originally posted by Nicholas, Technology Director at Gaslamp Games:
"Sewer Brew" is going to be for attending any old drinking event with us.
He also wrote that they think about making the achievement not counting for 100% completion. I do not know if they already did or if it's is even possible to do so. Any more information about this achievement would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can get the invisibility achievement easily by becoming invisible, then going to the pocket dimension and moving or waiting. It doesn't deplete in there.

About the Humanoid Typhoon... You can download mod from the workshop, that returns this skill tree. (I got this achievment, so it works)

According to the achievement with the thaumites there is also the possibility to level up the golemancy skill up to level 4. This allows you to cast a swarm of thaumites and walk straight into it.

After 200+ hours, I don't think I've seen anywhere a rusty helm. Any idea how to find, or craft one, if available? Also, for diggle god of hell, do I just have to get lucky and find a statue in diggle hell?
Norintha 22 Jul, 2016 @ 9:24am
It's worth pointing out, as I have seen this wrong elsewhere. For double rainbow blasting is primary damage, and piercing is secondary. So the guides (not this one) that say the achivement is wrong and you need all three primary types too are themselves wrong.

I'd reccomend adding Big Game Hunter to the essentials in the "All Skill Tree Based Achievments" as the XP boost helps a bit since a large amount of creatures on Floor 1 are animals, and diggles are always present.
