Of Ash and Dust Mod Guide
By The_Jackel
This guide is for a mod called Of Ash and Dust. This is a fairly new mod for Dark Souls Remastered that is an overhaul mod. It adds new enemies, spells, weapons, armor, bonfires, bosses and more! However, this mod also shuffles so items and NPCs around causing it to be a little tricky to locate specific items. There is also an Of Ash and Dust wiki page however, it is partially incomplete and doesn't tell you the necessary information. That is what this guide is for! I will also link videos of me playing through the mod and discovering items/locations for those that don't like to read text guides. As I play the mod i'll update the guide with new sections and videos.

Important Information
This section will be updated as I come across new things to mention.

  • All magic (miracles, pyromancies, sorceries) require intelligence and faith. INT spells will require more INT than FTH, FTH spells will require more FTH than INT, and Pyromancy spells will require a 50-50 split between FTH and INT. You still need to level up your hand so keep that in mind when choosing pyromancies.

  • Not all enemies can be backstabbed. Enemies such as the Black/Silver Knights are not able to be backstabbed.

  • Only light shields (i.e target shields) can parry. All medium and heavy shields (Grass Crest Shield and Black Knight Shield) are now bash only shields. They still block but no parries.

Progress through the Undead Asylum
Defeat Asylum Demon
Begin our adventure to Lordran
Defeat the Taurus Demon

Guide:

Several character class starting weapons are changed. For example the Pyromancer starts off with the whip.

The Asylum remains largely unchained. There are a few extra Hallows with bows, but nothing too difficult at this level. Progress your way to Oscar as normal (who has a side quest now) and then prepare to fight the Asylum Demon.

Do a plunging attack at the drop off and fight like normal. Once the Asylum Demon is dead, continue forward till reaching Bonfire in Lordran. Once at bonfire proceed up to the aqueduct and kill the Hallows on the way.

There is a new item under the aqueduct called a Deformed Bronze Coin. This coin is used to give to ferryman as part of the new transport system since warping with the Lordvessel is not allowed.

Progress like normal to the Undead Burg Bonfire. Heading to the left side where the two shield Hallows used to be is NOT where the undead merchant is. He has been moved to the room near the tower where the chest with gold pine resin was.

Be sure to fully explore the area as the residence key has been moved to

Where the Blue Tearstone Ring and the Black Knight has instead been replaced with a Tower Knight and a sneaky Baulder Knight hidden behind the stairs near a chest.

Once ready to take on the Taurus Demon, proceed up to the tower like normal. There are an extra 3 Hallows and one Armored Hallow on the way so conserve Estus accordingly. Upon entering the fog door, turn around and kill the single archer. As you approch the spot to make the boss jump down there will be another enemy in the boss room (this mod will do this a lot). If luckly you will be able to get him to roll off the edge. If not, then back stab into oblivion and try to lure him away before the boss jumps down or the fight will be very difficult.

The Taurus Demon now drops the basement key, but I highly advise not going that way for now and instead make the usual run down the bridge to open the shortcut back up to the Undead Burg Bonfire. Watch out as there is one enemy on the way down.

Rest at bonfire and congrats! You've made it through the first two bosses of the game!

Please let me know if you'd like any additional helps in the comments and I will link the video below. Have a great time playing this mod!

In this episode we work our way through the Undead Parish, meet Andre, free (and then kill) Lautrec and fight our way to take on the Bell Gargoyles.

Walkthrough:

Starting at the Undead Burg Bonfire, climb up the ladder shortcut you unlocked and run towards the dragon and hide in the alcove like I do. Eventually, the dragon will land and you must run as fast as possible through its feet and light the bonfire. The Hellkite can turn around and reach you inside kill you so be sure to rest at the bonfire to reset his position.

If you want the Praise the Sun pose you can now unlock it just for joining the covenant. Afterwards, open the shortcut to Undead Parish. As soon as you enter, you will have a Hallow Solider drop down from the ledge. Just backstab him and collect the shiny (Claymoore I believe). Upstairs in the tower is another Tower Knight. There are still three rats below which will give you access to cutting off the dragon's tail if interested.

In order to bypass the underside area with a Hallow ambush (although you will have to go there eventually) run along the right hand side up the stairs and past the archers with killing any of them. Jump off the ledge to avoid the giant boar and land safely inside the gate. Eventually, a hallow will run up and close the gate. Kill anyone who made it inside and then proceed to open up the shortcut to Firelink Shrine.

Finish exploring the area and remember to return to the underside of the area in order to collect the mystery key to free Lautrec later on.

Run over to see Andre and unlock the Undead Parish Bonfire. Afterwards you need to kill the Tower Knight guarding the alter. This alter is a part of a side quest which I will detail in a different section. Once you've finished killing him and doing any weapon upgrades, climb up the stairs to kill the mage before he casts some magic buff spells causing everyone to become very irritating. Once dead kill the remaining Hallows and explore the area.

The Baulder Knight has moved to the small room with a window and there is an archer in there too. Kill both of them and collect the loot before moving on to free Lautrec. Collect the first Firekeeper soul outside the cell before opening. As another note, there is a Baulder Knight patrolling outside the cell.

Once freed return to Firelink Shrine to use Firekeeper soul and kill Lautrec. For me, he didn't spawn in so I had to quit and reload a few times before he finally did. The mod author moved his location so he can no longer be kicked off the edge. You have to do a real fight and he puts up a good one. (Although, if you want to wait for the FAP ring don't kill him). Once you are ready, make your way back up to the Undead Parish and climb the stairs to the boss.

The Bell Gargoyles fight remains unchanged so just kill them like normal and run upstairs to ring the Bell of Awakening and don't slip off the edge like I did.

Next return to Firelink Shrine and jump off the elevator like normal to collect the key to open a door in the Undead Asylum. Re-jump off the elevator and roll (not jump) to the ledge to climb the stairs to the nest. Wait like normal and get transported back to the Asylum. Go back through like normal and note that Oscar is not there (he has a side quest) and the Rusted Iron Ring is replaced with the Pecular Doll. The doll has been replaced with a miracle (if a cleric travel to your original cell to collect and then warp out to avoid 2 BK).

Kill the Moonlight Butterfly
Kill Titanite Demon
Collect items in Darkroot Garden and Basin

Guide:

From Andre's shop run past the titanite demon for now as we will level up and come back at the end

Head straight and not turning down the hill till you run into the tree and keep going like heading to locked gate. The bonfire has been moved so be sure to have plenty of Estus with you! In the bonfire's place is the Wolf Ring to boost poise.

Make the loop around the forest stopping before you reach the ruins leading to the moonlight butterfly. Head back the way you came and there will be a fake tree blocking a path. Attack until it disappears and then climb up the steps where you will find Oscar and the bonfire for the area. Rest/Kindle if running low and exhaust Oscar's dialogue.

Head back the way you came and make a run for the ruins avoiding enemies to preserve Estus. In the boss room, there is a stone giant that was moved. Be sure to kill it first before attempting the Butterfly. Use the Knight's Shield for maximum magic defense and roll to avoid the attacks. Kill like normal.

Upon defeat head up the stairs leading to a higher part of the ruined tower where the old blacksmith is. He has the Grass Crest Shield, Enchanted Ember and the Key to Artorias' Gate.

After collect it warp out and head back to Andre. Now it is time to kill the Titanite Demon. It's important to say not to be greedy as at this stage he will do a lot of damage.

Next step after killing the demon is prepare to make the dreaded descent into Blighttown via the Depths and Lower Undead Burg.

Clearing out the Lower Undead Berg
Begining the first part of the Depths

Provided you didn't open the shortcut after getting the key from the Tarus Demon, go back to the bridge and open the door then proceed like normal until you are able to open the door as a shortcut to the Undead Berg,

There will be three dogs on the stairs and the Capra Demon may be outside the boss room. (Don't worry about him as he will get scared and run back into the boss room once he frees himself)

Make sure you collected the resident key from earlier because you will need it to open Grigg's door and free him.

Keep heading to the right of his door and you will find some hallows and a Black Knight. Kill him to be rewarded with another soul.

Once the back is cleared out make your way to the actual path of where the boss door is.

If you have a thrust weapon be sure to attack the doors to kill the female thieves before they ambush you.

Continue down the path killing the enemies as there is another ambush ahead.

Once everyone is dead head to the right of the boss door to open the shortcut to firelink shrine.

Be careful, there is another Black Knight at the top of the stairs. Either run past him (so you don't have to reclear the Lower Berg or kill him)

Once shortcut is open you are ready to kill the Capra Demon. In this fight only 1 dog will spawn until he gets at 50% health then the other dog will span. After he dies then he will drop the key to the depths.

*IMPORTANT: I only did the first half of the depths to free the Pyromancer and find the ember however, the ember location has moved to deeper in the depths so clearing out the first half is rather pointless until you are ready to do all the Depths*

Killing the Hydra

After defeating the Capra Demon, head through the door to the Depths. Not much has changed on the first floor with the exception that the ember isn't behind the butcher.

Once clearing out the area, drop down behind the butcher's table to fight the giant sewer rat. This rat will drop the Blighttown key so it is important to come here first.

Most of the Depths remains the same so this part of the guide will now focus on the differences and key items.

  • Giant Sewer Rat now drops the Blighttown Key
  • Gaping Dragon can only be summoned after visiting with the Ancient Dragon
  • Opening the door to Blighttown will cause Depths enemies to change into Blighttown enemies
  • The ember has been moved to the lower passages where the Frogs are. Slide down the left of the water fall and follow the path around until you see a hole and then drop down it. Or just climb your way down the steps. (it is where the Evil Eye ring was)

Once finished exploring the Depths, climb out and head to the Darkroot Garden. Once at the Undead Parish purchase the watchtower basement key from Andre. First continue back like going to the moonlight butterfly and turn right to kill the fake tree. Follow the path upwards to find Oscar sitting at the new bonfire for the area.

Then head back through the forest where Alvina is and run past her like you are going to Sif. Outside of the boss room will be a golden golum containing Dusk of Oolacile. Kill him and speak with her.

Return to near Andre's section and sharply turn right to reveal a clearing with a chest and a tree ambush. Now that Dusk is free you can collect the Broken Pendant for the DLC.

Go back to the Watchtower and prepare to backstab Havel into oblivion. As an additional shortcut, be sure to open the door at the top of the watch tower to quickly get back to firelink shrine when done.

To take on the hydra be sure to stand at the edge of the water because if the acid spit hits the passive cat they will attack you. Kill the Hydra like normal and return to firelink shrine to prepare for Blighttown...

Lower Blighttown
Merchant location
Quelaag fight

At this point in the mod you will be fairly under leveled to take on Blighttown through the front entrance, but the master key has been removed from the game so we will have to go a roundabout way to the back entrance.

From the Depths, follow the path backwards to exit and take the shortcut back to Firelink Shrine. From Firelink, travel to the Undead Parish and stock up on any upgrades or materials you need. Proceed to Darkroot Basin and continue to follow the slope down until you come across a cave. Run to the end and call the elevator which will take you to the Valley of the Drakes. From here be extra careful as you head into Blighttown because it is a long way back to the bonfire.

Follow the torches and ladders to the bottom of Blighttown and there is no firekeeper soul near where the toxic dart enemies are so just keep going down.

The bonfire has also been moved except it is in your favor because it is directly after the waterwheel. Note that the sealed keeper is moved guarding the bonfire so kill him to rest.

After this I would suggest going to the Great Hallow because the Rusted Iron Ring will make collecting everything much easier. You can also obtain the item needed to summon the Gaping Dragon from the Ancient Dragon so now is the perfect time to collect them.

The Iron Ring is immediately in a chest behind a fake wall. There is also a bonfire at the entrance. I'd recommend resting as it is very easy to die here. Be sure to make the jump into the tree top in order to collect the Silver Serpent Ring and then carefully climb down the tree.

Note: the frogs here will curse you so be extra careful unless you plan to shell out 6k souls to break the curse. Once at the bottom you can rest at the bonfire. (Don't worry about re-climbing the tree as there is a ferryman at the end of Ash Lake.

Follow the path along the beach to a tree with a pathway above the branches and enter where you will find a hallow Havel and some mushrooms. Inside is a miracle so clerics will want to grab it.

At the end of the path the ancient dragon rests. DO NOT ATTACK THE GUARDS! They will not harm you. Join the covenant to receive the ancient soul and cut off tail for the weapon. Afterwards the ferryman will take you the the coffin outside of the Great Hallow entrance. Head back to the bonfire and make a lap around the outside of Blighttown to collect all the loot. Once ready prepare yourself for Quelaag.

Usually I don't give tips for boss fights as they are largely unchanged; however, Quelaag is joined halfway through by her sister Quelea (pyromancer from Lost Izilith. I'd highly recommend summoning Man-Eater Mildred as she makes this fight easier. If you go solo be sure to immediately target Quelea when she spawns as she will do massive aoe attacks such as chaos firestorm and it is a quick way to die. The good news is that both are weak to lighting and Quelea is especially weak to backstabs.

Once done, congratulations! You've have finally rung the second bell of awakening.

Clearing out Sen's Fortress
Killing Iron Golem

Walkthrough

Once rested at the Undead Parish, I'd highly recommend kindling the bonfire. This is the only bonfire for a while and its a long way to the top. There is only one snake guarding the entrance room which can be easily baited into the trap and killed.

Next there is a second snake directly outside the room to the left. Unless you want to be backstabbed you should stop to kill it. A new change with this mod is that Lighting snakes now cast a burst of magic spells. While running across the bridge be careful of the snake shooting you.

Proceed up the path until you reach Onion Bro. He is off to the side and you should go and talk to him to continue his quest. You can drop down from the top and collect the Murukumo Great Sword. Continue like normal as there is nothing new to collect. It is also important to note that the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring's location has moved. It is now in the upper area of Sen's Fortress where the cage key used to be.

Once at the boulder section, unless you have purchased the master key from merchant in the depths, you will need to wait to free Big Hat Logan. Adjust the boulder and escape up the stairs. Now the bonfire has also moved so be extra careful. An Iron Knight now patrols the top area. I'd recomment running past him to the stairs and up to the ledge where you will be able to jump off to the right of that big pit area to get to the bonfire.

Once rested go ahead and clear out the lower and upper levels like usually. The merchant has also moved to the big pit area near the bonfire. The cage key has also moved to besides the boulder dropping Giant.

Once the area is explored, be sure to unlock the cage shortcut as coming back to Anor Londo later will be a pain without.

The Iron Golem has been fixed so he can no longer fall off the edge; however his moveset hasn't changed. Once dead enter the beautiful cutscene and head to the Anor Londo Bonfire.

Further Solaire's quest
Kill Gwyndolyn* (optional see explanation)

Guide:

Once the demons drop you off in Anor Londo, travel to the bonfire to rest for this area. There are not any items of significant yet so explore around as usually and don't forget to spend those souls from the Iron Golem!

From the firekeeper's bonfire, carefully cross over to the beams where there is a silver knight and painted guardian waiting. Kill them and make your way inside and up the ladder to the rafters. Note: there are no more painted guardians in the rafters because they have been replaced with anor londo archers!

These are still easy to kill just be sure not to block unless you have a high stability shield. There are three and the 2nd one is not possible to kill from ceiling so continue forward and then drop down the ladder to move down the mechanism. Once moved down rest at the newly moved bonfire outside of the castle. From here we are going to make a loop on the outside to reach the inside castle bonfire. As usual, the Anor Londo archers and demons are hanging around but the good news is that the losing health from walking bug has been patched.

The archers have moved so one is directly in front of the beam. Roll to avoid arrows and then kill. The one on the left is guarding 5 humanity so if you aren't interested head to the right and watch out for the silver knight waiting below.

Once dead enter and discover that there is a giant inside. The bonfire has also moved to the room where Havel's secret stash is. Solaire is also there so talk with him if you'd like to further his quest.

Much of the castle remains the same with the exception that there are more mimics so be extra careful opening chests. The room that formerly held the Titainite demon now hold Iron Tarkus so kill him to get the Black Iron set and his weapon.

Another important thing to note while exploring is that many Silver Knights carry Havel's Dragontooth weapon so they can easily kill you at this level. Once all shortcuts are open and you've finished exploring the castle, open up the main door and head upstairs to the Giant Blacksmith to unlock the shortcut back to the bonfire. Once well rested you have two options in terms of the boss fight. Super spoilers below so read at own risk.

Killing Gwyndolyn will plunge Anor Londo into night and change the boss to a special variant of Smough called Voracious Executioner. If not interested in this wait to kill Gwyndolyn until after Ornstien and Smough are dead.

Kill the alternate boss of Anor Londo
Clearing out the Painted World of Ariamis
Defeating boss and dream boss of Ariamis

Walkthrough:

Now that all of Anor Londo is cleared off you have two choices in terms of the final boss. Kill Gwyndolyn first and face Voracious Smough fight or kill Ornstein and Smough first and it will be the regular fight

I accidentally chose the alternate boss fight so if you do you will face a superpowered version of Smough that deals poison damage. He still dies fairly easily as there is no extra health gained it is only that first stage and he is very weak to fire still. Once dead head upstairs to collect the Lord Vessel and then warp back to the bonfire.

Now you can choose to kill Gwyndolyn if you chose the normal boss encounter.

Once finished with Anor Londo you should have the doll from back in the Asylum in the place where the Rusted iron Ring was originally. Dive into the painting and light the bonfire. Now this area remains mostly the same but there are some key differences in enemy types I'll write the changes below.

  • Failinks now have a huge health boost so be very careful when fighting them in swarms
  • New enemy types that are Velka's pardoners roam the area and deal big damage
  • Extra white rats now lie in ambush and will try to swarm you dealing toxic damage.
  • New hallow archers have been added in hard to reach places with deadly accuracy
  • Frost Debuff that slows you down and deals very minor tick damage. Can be combated by wearing or using anything relating to fire (like a flaming sword)

For the most part this area in terms of loot collect remains the same but the layout is super confusing so this guide will also cover how to navigate. As always I'll attach a video to help those that prefer a visual guide.

Starting from the bonfire head to the right and up the stairs killing the hallows as you go. Once you reach the top the snipers are waiting. Flank left and climb the stairs to dispose of one of them. A bird will fall down once you loot the item so be ready for that as well. You can make the usually loop inside the building to kill all of the bloated hallows. Once finished head to the bridge and heal to full.

It is risky but if you've upgraded your health to at least 30 then you can survive the fall and open up the short cut to the bonfire. Once you are near the gate the Velka warrior will drop down (there are two of them) and you will need to make sure the gate is open just to be safe. Also changes are the Failinks will starts launching their spears which also do big damage at far away range.

If human you can head to the right of the gate and summon in the pyromancer NPC. Once dead head to the well and climb down into the tunnels to turn the statue with all the bonewheels to open the boss door. Climb back out and head to the boss door. You can finish exploring this area like normal including killing the undead dragon for some ancient blood to get the dragon torso from the Ancient Dragon in Ash Lake.

Once you've cleared out the area, make a dash to the fog gate as several enemies will be chasing you. KIll the fluffy abomination per usually and collect King Jerimiah's clothes. You will also notice a summon sign for Priscilla. Enter it and kill a slightly (very slightly) harder version of the boss. Once dead make the jump out of the area and head to the bonfire to spend your souls.

Abyss Gone Wild
Preview:
Kill Sanctuary Guardian
Kill Artorias of the Abyss
Exploring the Township
Unlock shortcut in Chasm of the Abyss

Walkthrough:

Strangly, the DLC is one the more untouched areas of this mod. The locations of items is mostly the same and there are not many new items added besides some spells/pyromancies (most of which cannot be collect till NG+)

After the Hydra is dead, the entrance to DLC is the same although the item locations have moved. Head to outside Sif's arena and kill the golden golem for Dusk to pop out. The broken pendant is located after defeating the dusk in a clearing near the entrance to the woods. (Formerly where the tree ambush was). With that you can enter the portal.

Important Information:
Have at least 1 Bronze coin before entering DLC as you can no longer use Lord Vessel to warp you will be stuck in the DLC until you reach a coffin travel. This means i'd strongly advise doing the DLC when you are at a good level.

Sanctuary Guardian has its usual tricks and dies easily provided you are properly leveled.
Afterwards make your way to Elizabeth the Mushroom and kindle the bonfire.
Depending on how you feel about the Stone Giant set you may wish to run around and collect the pieces all of which are in the usual spots. If not then make the big lap around the area till you reach the elevator shortcut outside Artorias' room. Flank right near Chester and open up the elevator shortcut leading back to the bonfire. Once rested you should be ready to take on the boss,

Artorias now takes much less fire/magic damage and I believe his physical defense has also improved as well as his damage from buffing. With that in mind tanking is a bad idea (as seen in the video). You need to be light rolling to avoid his attacks and deal chip damage until he dies. The trick is to go for 3 hits and then back away when he is recovering or use that time to heal. And whatever you do... DON'T let him get his buff off unless you want to unlock a super shortcut to the bonfire. Once dead head to the new bonfire and rest.

There is also a coffin that leads you out of the DLC near Hawkeye Gough's room if you are ready for a break as the next two bosses will be very difficult. (And the dream variant of Manus is nothing to sneeze at either.)

Return to Artorias room to kill Cirrian (or spare her i'm not here to judge) and prepare to explore the township.

Many of these items have also remained the same so make the typical loop around and be extra careful walking around corners as there are some added Abyss Casters. Chester will invade as normal if human in the same place and there is still a mimic on the top of the tower. When you head through the door be careful of the spellcaster that will shoot you in the back as you run across the bridge to head deeper in the abyss.

And as an added note the key to Hawkeye Gough's room has changed and is instead in the rafters above where the old room is (the one with the mimic and spellcaster and regular enemy. "After the mimic that normally drops the key, follow the path and fall down to a small roof. Then turn right and walk to the end of the small path." (Wiki).

Head inside the room where the bloated dude with a massive spear (or is it a cross?) on his head. Instead there is another Sanctuary Guardian who is too wide to fit through the door. Bonk him a few times and he goes down quick.

Once inside the abyss for the first time without dyling, you will encounter a debuff which is why it is important to rescue puppy sif (follow alvina) and then promptly warp out before unlocking the shortcut. Run and rest at the Oolacile Township bonfire to remove the debuff.

Killing Kalameet
Killing Manus
*Optional fight*

Walkthrough:

By now you should have gotten the Crest Key and visited Kalameet once to trigger the Hawkeye Gough cutscene.

The Kalameet fight remains the same as always do not allow him to give you the Calamity debuff or it will still one-shot you. Once dead, head back to the township bonfire and prepare for Manus.

If you've finished exploring the Abyss and rescuing puppy sif in the last episode then you are ready to fight Manus. The path is the exact same although there is a dark magic debuff in the boss room causing you to take tick damage. Manus' fight remains the same and its still irritating. I highly recommend summining sif to distract Manus to allow you to heal and deal damage from behind. Once Manus is dead, when you touch the bonfire you will warp out of the area.

However, Manus has a dream boss fight varient required to get the secret boss fight at the end of the game. I waited to do all my dream fights at the end but this fight can be done anytime after killing Manus. Below are spoilers for the fight.

This fight has Manus and Artorias fighting and both have the same movesets as before. Occassionally the will attack you if you come too close to them. This fight plays out similarly to the
O & S fight so kill whoever you don't want to face later (I highly recommend helping Artorias kill Manus and then fighting Artorias like normal. Otherwise, they both have the same fight moves.

With that taken care you are done with the DLC and ready to deal big damage to the next two bosses on the list.

Walkthrough:
This part will be super short due to how powerful you should be at this point in the game. If you have completed the DLC you will nearly two shot every enemy.

Warp to Darkroot Garden and rush to Sif's bonfire.
If you spoke to Oscar he will help you in this fight and Sif goes down very quickly. But you do have to watch the sad Sif scene after rescuing her.

With the ring to traverse the Abyss you are able to head to New Londo Ruins. Unfortunatly, I had previously collect the +15 ember before facing Manus so must of New Londo is cleared out, but not to worry the ember is in the same spot. There is also a Bonfire at the bottom of New Londo next to a coffin that leads to firelink shrine which is a massive improvement.

Once everything is looted head to the Four Kings Room. They will all spawn in but as long as you only attack the one that is aggroed you don't have to worry about them swarming you. Once the fight is 50% done the last two will join at the same time but still die easily.

Collecting Chaos Flame ember

Walkthrough:

Starting from Quelaag's sister's bonfire, head to Ceaseless discharge and as usual lure him to the fog wall and then make him fall to his death.

Once dead climb down the slope avoiding the egg infected (unless you want to role play as a worm lol). And head right to meet the one capra demon. Thankfully, demon ruins is no longer spammed with enemies as before.

If human, Knight Kirk will still invade in usual spot although the bonfire has moved so be extra careful about dying or weapon at risk.

The Chaos Ember is to the left of the first boss door guarded by a Capra Demon and a bunch of rock worms that will instantly ruin your weapon. (Be careful when they spray corrosion)

When ready, head to the right to save Solaire if you paid the 30 humanity (also the Sunlight Maggot helmet is always useful)

Once the shortcut is opened and the maggot is killed, enter the boss room. The fight is mostly the same except instead of an AOE magic blast the demon now lobs several fireballs.

Once dead, head upstairs to unlock the shortcut to the Spider bonfire. Next up the the Centipede demon and fortunately you get the ring as soon as you enter so quickly put it on and bait it over to the bigger island. The fight is still the same although the centipede demon has a bad habit of getting stuck.

When dead head forward to meet up with Solaire (if saved) and light the bonfire. Run forward and be happy that half of a demon dragon is no longer spammed everywhere. Make the usually path to the secret bonfire in the wall and light it. Once heading to the approach to the BoC fight, some Black Knights will spawn but they are friendly and will help you clear out the enemies. Once everyone is dead head to the floor drop to save Siegmeyer. I actually didn't but you have to leave 3 enemies alive or he commits suicide.

Head to the bonfire in front of the BoC door and prepare for a different fight.

Once entered you will notice the parasite is in the middle of the floor and some black knights but daughters of chaos are fighting. Focus on the parasite as the daughters cannot be killed. Once the boss is at 1/2 health, the BK will die and the daughters will target you with every type of pyromancy. Run around to evade them until the boss is dead. Light the bonfire and you will be warped to firelink shrine.

If you collected the warp path to Anor Londo than use that otherwise I had to walk all the way to the Duke's Archives.

Once there, you will notice that there is no bonfire at the front enterance. This is where not fighting the firekeeper would come in handy, but be extra careful as the wizards will buff the enemies and potentially send you back to the Undead Parish. With this in mind I'd recommend running to Seath's first encounter where you no longer have to worry about dying. Once you take damage you will spawn at the jail bonfire.

The Duke's archives is pretty much the exact same from this point further. Some differences include the Clams and Slugs near the final boss fight will actually join in the fight to attack Seath until he is at 50% health.

Complete the jail and play with the stair puzzle until it is solved. Then open up the shortcut back to the floor bonfire overlooking the balcony.

From this spot I'd suggest familiarizing yourself with the invisible path because the slipping mechanics are still in the game. I would also advise that you just book it straight to the boss room because there isn't anything worth collecting in here. Also if you have a torch or a fire weapon it will keep the frost debuff away.

Once the boss is down you only have one area left (see below)

Catacombs/Tomb of the Giants
When recording this episode I finished these areas only to realize that I wasn't actually recording. This area isn't a problem if you have the sunlight maggot from earlier.

Pinwheel now summons bonewheel skeletons instead of copies of himself so he poses a (slightly) higher threat. Nito also deals toxic damage so be sure to bring some moss for the fight. Nito also takes reduced damage when there are skeletons present so be sure to bring a blessed weapon so you can damage the boss.

By now you should have killed all the main bosses and are ready to fight Gwyn. However, there is a secret boss fight which I will explain how to get.

Gaping Dragon: Need blood from Ancient dragon to summon into arena
Pricilla Dream Boss: Outside original encounter area
Gwyndolyn Dream Boss: At the end of the original area
Gank Fight Dream Boss: After O+S fight its near the bedchanber door at the top
Manus Dream Boss: Must dive back into the abyss after warping out to access.

After beating the final boss the last dream fight will appear near the statue of Gwyn at Firelink shrine.

Final Boss
Secret Boss (w/ tips)

Walkthrough:
The Gwyn fight is very similar only he can no longer be reposted. You can still parry him, but no more spamming parry.

Dream Fight is a multistaged Gwyn fight and I'll explain each of the phases below:

Phase 1: Anor Londo Roof: It is Gwyn plus a silver knight but the fight is simple
Phase 2: New Londo Ruins: A red bug will make Gwyn immune to all damage and must be killed to deal damage to Gwyn.
Phase 3: Lost Izalith: This is the craziest one. This fight has the Black Knights, a Taurus Demon, Gwyn, and the Bed of Chaos Parasite. The goal here is to kill Gwyn before he destroys the BoC.
Phase 4: Kiln: Last phase! Just fight Gwyn again like normal and get rewarded with 200,000 Souls!

Apparently the mod author changed it so you can do it at any level weapon up to level 4

I have weapons at +5 (normal weapons, not boss weapons or anything), I'm still unable to upgrade :[
The_Jackel  [author] 17 Jan, 2022 @ 12:02am
A weapon needs to be upgraded to +5 first and then it can be upgraded to divine unlike ds3 where you can infuse as soon as you have the coal and gem.

I have all the embers, is there a special path for the weapons to be upgraded to divine ?
The_Jackel  [author] 16 Jan, 2022 @ 11:17am
You still need the divine ember located in darkroot garden to make a divine weapon. I believe the location should still be the same

Any information on how the weapon upgrades is supposed to work ? I can't make any divine weapon

I did have this issue when I first started playing the game. I never figured out exactly what it was but it had something to do with my computer using the wrong graphics card. I had to go into the NVIDA control panel and change which graphics card it was using.

Started this mod again after almost a year since I install the latest update back in Feb. I booted up the game and the brightness in game is so dark all of sudden. It wasn't that way before (Sen's Fortress is so dark when you walk inside the entrance you can see the lizard humanoids even up close. This is only happening on DSR as I've tried other games so it's not a driver issue (using Nvidia) but is it the mod that is making the game so dark? I don't remember it being this dark...I turned the in-game brightness all the way up and it is still way too dark to see ahead of your character.

Sorry to post this issue here but since this is a guide for the mod I wondered if anyone else encountered this while playing PTDA Of Ash and Dust.
