Paper Dungeon Rogue Dungeon Start Guide
By Lucifer
Due to the nature of a random map I can only lay out tips for you to survive the first dungeon. If you survive the first three you should have no problem surviving the rest. Most of the bugs I've encountered in the game are in Rogue Dungeon so if you find one too, just take a screenshot and give the devs any detailed information you have so that it will be fixed in the future, until then just start over again. I did, like a lot. Wrote this guide because of it lol

Basics
To start out pick your class.

*For those who are going straight into Rogue Dungeon I highly recommand against it, the beginning dice will make the first levels very difficult.

Mind my terrible cut and paste skills, these are three you should aim for when selecting dice to take to Rogue Dungeon, I personally took Vaccine and Heal.

Warrior

Boasting an emphasis on defense, this class is your Tank class.
As you level balance your attack and defense keeping attack only slightly higher, this gives you a very high survivability.

Choose the Ishtar religion to further your survival rate with 10% more life and a resistance to poison.

Your natural ability to detect acido cubes will help you navigate the dungeon as acido cube enemies are usally placed in doorways to the next room disguised as walls to other classes.

Not as great as the archer's detect ability but it'll give you a good idea where you should go.

Incase you enter combat against an enemy you can't defeat, this will let you end combat and fight another day.

Your best ability, use it to heal off poison or after battle.
Archer

With the longest range in the game your priority should be to utilize it. Attacking enemies from a three tile distance means for two rolls they cannot attack you. This means if you are able to kill the poisonous or diseased enemy before they reach you, you will not become afflicted by them. Build this class with a near all out focus on attack, leaving few points to either defense or life as you will be dependent on your longshot ability.

Sylvanas will better serve you in the long run with the poison resistance.

The archer class also carries with it the ability to detect natural traps. This means you will be able to see the poisonous traps on the ground before triggering them. You also take less damage running through walls.

An easy shot to help kill an enemy before it reaches you.

If they haven't died after two rolls use this to buy yourself more time.

Take a screenshot when using this to fully utilize it, reveals all hidden enemies and traps.
Priests

Neck to neck with the warrior class for most overpowered, the priest class has a very high survival rating leveled correctly. Build with a balance of attack and defense with attack slightly higher to become near invincible with the Idun religion. This class builds piety very fast so unlocking the blessings will be easy.

The Idun religion will grant the ability to heal a percentage of your total health back after each battle, making this class have little to no reliance on uncovering tiles to recover health.

Your ability to detect divine wards means you will be able to see them before you step and trigger them.

Easily the best way to deal with an undead or posionous enemy is to turn it into something else...or worse.

Incase you're in over your head and need to fight another day.

It won't save you being afflicted with disease but it'll end the battle that much sooner against the undead monster.
Mages

This class and the thief have the lowest defense but the greatest attack outputs. When leveling choose only attack. The mage class also comes with ranged attack meaning you can attack enemies two tiles away giving you one roll where they cannot strike back. Defeating diseased and poisonous enemies before they can reach you means no affliction.

Its easy to see with such a high attack class you should pick Tyche, the 10% damage increase means you can finish off most enemies in one roll and the damage rebound helps the mage with their poor defense.

This class is able to detect magical traps on the ground before triggering them. Also as you naturally level the mage has an enormous mana pool so using the magic books should be priority over running through fire, walking off poison or running through walls.

Best used to peak around if you can't get around a high level enemy in a one tile hallway or just to see if theres and end to the hallway.

It literally does teleport you anywhere, even into the fog of war, even into a wall.

Utilizing your extended range this helps kill an enemy before it can close the distance.
Thieves

One of the greatest damage dealing class along with the mage is the thief class. The additional poison damage applied against enemies means if their life is low enough the poison will finish them without the need for rolling dice. You also earn a lot more gold in this class so buying equipment and supplies early is easier. When leveling you can choose for a full emphasis on attack or lean towards life and defense for extra survival chances.

Both religions are great pick the one that goes along with your leveling, Kali for damage output or Ratri for evasion to increase your ability to survive.

The thief class carries the ability to detect mimics, creatures (and sometimes bosses) disguised as chests. They don't give you the 80 gold normal chests do on death but being able to detect them and see their level is a great ability so you don't blindly run into a high level mimic at level one.

Since you can already detect mimics not much a use for that but it helps find spare items in the dungeon.

A great scouting ability, you can explore the entire dungeon if you don't engage in combat at the cost of reduced fog of war.

You don't have to be behind them to do this, just another great damage dealing ability for the damage dealing class.
Tips and Tricks

You can't detect everything but sometimes the game system tries to help you out. When the path is estranged like here that means theres a ward or trap you can't see as that class, just avoid the tile.

If you were able to survive the first few dungeons, you'll eventually hit the maximum for money and piety. Make sure to spend it on quick heals, chicken legs and mana restores. (999 is the cap)

Don't be afraid to use them, use all 20 chicken legs if you have to, you'll always collect more and stock up money to buy more.

If you are poisoned, diseased or both and you just leveled up, if you have enough mana to use the spellbook cure all (the green one), click on it before choosing a stat to increase. The spellbook will cure you and aftr you pick a stat your mana will be replenished along with your health.
