LA-U-P1 Narrow Gauge Steam Locomotive

This locomotive uses a realistic boiler/firebox/coal/water whatever system. To start it, turn on the tender, open the firebox, click on the coal in the tender, click on the inside of the firebox. You can put up to 3 "lumps" of coal in the firebox at a time.


Variables to manage:
"Steam value" - Think of this like boiler pressure. 0 is no pressure and locomotive cannot move, 10 is highest pressure and locomotive can move at maximum speed.

"Water level" - This value starts at 3600 and slowly goes down to 0 as the locomotive is run. This can be refilled at a water tower. Without water, the locomotive cannot generate steam.

"Fire level" - This is displayed in the firebox using the "fire" (a yellow bar). It increases when coal is added, decreases gradually. Without fire, the locomotive cannot generate steam.

"Coal level" - This is displayed on the tender using the "coal" (a black square). It decreases when you take out coal to put it on the fire. Without coal, the locomotive cannot sustain a fire.



The LA-U-P1 was an advanced narrow gauge steam locomotive, designed to fill the need for an inexpensive, powerful and reliable locomotive for use in industry, remote railroads and even mainline narrow gauge use. She became an instant favorite among engineers and mechanics for her simplicity, ease of repair and fairly long range due to her high-capacity tender.

Despite her simplicity, she is fitted with many useful and modern features, such as electric lighting, a powerful generator to provide power to wagons and a radio signalling system for level crossings, signals etc.
