is there a way to automate the epic launcher closing step?
Glad to hear it's working! I got lucky with my latest Microsoft game (freebie) because Doom Eternal didn't need the UWPHook, I was able to point straight to the exe and Steam hooked right into it. It's rare as far as I could tell, though, and one of the reasons I've been avoiding Microsoft direct PC games (like gamepass, xbox for pc, etc.).
For tracking playtime smoothly via Steam for non-Steam games, sadly it's a no-go as far as I could tell.
However, GOG Galaxy does track playtime for Epic games if you've used their sync integration with GOG Galaxy. It's a formal/official integration.
But noticed that Steam isn't tracking playtime for my added game. Is this normal for non-steam games, or did I do something wrong? (If it's normal, perhaps a note in this excellent guide).
Hopefully I'll get to try this out next time I play an Epic game.
Deciding between "Deliver at All Costs" and "Dead Island 2" for my next Epic game most likely.
I'll definitely be sure to link to your post of course if it gets added in.
It would make the whole process just that much more smooth if it finished its sync and closed itself safely all automatically for sure! Hopefully epic has a clean shutdown command like steam ... *\steam.exe -shutdown
The process is in a post I created here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/discussions/forum/1/601905389490939527/
It should work for other game launchers too by changing the script to reflect the name of the appropriate service.
