By Wan Shi Tong
So this is just going to be a speculation type of thing with my experience so far with fishing.

Overview
Fishing is a part of a quest you get from an old man in the southern seaside town. Fishing in general from my experience works kind of like pokemon, you can find/catch any type of fish as long as they're known to exist in that area. Bait and such increases odds of one thing over another, such as the worms increasing the chance of catching either saltwater or freshwater fish depending on which one you use in what area, while also decreasing the chance of getting junk. Lures work in any space but have higher chance of getting garbage, so if looking for a certain fish, the appropriate bait is best to use in those scenarios. Completing the quests for the old man increases your proficiency in fishing if you do fulfill his requests, a rather tedious and unnecessary thing to fulfill but if you want to 100% then be my guest. A Note to be taken: You can judge what youre going to catch based off of how the meter changes, if it is a quick change in meter while you are trying to catch it, you are likely to get garbage, or the most common fish available there, and this also goes for judging more expensive/rare ones, it will take a lot longer to catch. I tried this out while wasting an entire hour trying to catch pufferfish. The meter is affected in certain ways depending on what the catch is, so if you dont like it (for me it was that dumbass red fish that had little to no merit in catching.) you can just intentionally lose the catch because no matter what your bait will be consumed anyways regardless if you make the catch or not. Lures on the otherhand last longer and you dont really need more than 2 at a time, but if looking for a specific fish that requires a certain bait you will probably need around 30 of said bait to catch as many as it takes to fulfill the quest you are pursuing.
Seaside town
You can catch any of the following in the seaside town
Pufferfish, Sardine, Shark, some stupid ass red fish that takes way too long to catch, and shaman fish. For the shark you will need to use a sardine as bait, but for the rest you have a % chance to find any one of those wherever you fish as long as youre using the correct worm (the one for salt water) I believe the % is something like this: Sardine:80%, Shaman: 70% (needs to be at the lighthouse beach) Pufferfish: 10%, dumb ass red fish that takes way too long to catch for only 300 in game currency:5%
Northern Plains
There is a lake in the northern plains that is where you find rainbow trout and carp, through my limited experience fishing there, you will get only 3 things, garbage, carp, and rainbow trout. rainbow trout so far for me, a lure is the best way to secure one of these with about a 70% chance to get one with a lure, the 30% is garbage. With the worms, since this is a freshwater lake, the freshwater worms grants a higher percentage of catching fish, but all I have got so far is carp and garbage with another 70% carp 30% garbage. And finally while fishing with a carp here it amounts to nothing so far, I went 3/3 and stopped there cause I didnt want to waste my carp. All I got while fishing with carp was tin cans. Another thing to take notice of is when fishing, rainbow trout in this area take 3 bobs the 3rd being when you can catch the fish, for them to appear typically, 2 bobs was carp or garbage.
Lake in town
The lake in the town your house is at is a good source of bass and carp you can easily fish there and get what you want, fishing with a lure provides bass or garbage, a 70%:10%, fishing with a carp provides garbage only, and fishing with earthworms gives you carp and garbage a 90%:10% overall this is the best spot to fish for black bass considering it is in the centerplace for the map i rate 9/10.
Sand River
Here while fishing, I came across 3 things garbage, rusted clumps, and a hyneria, the hyneria i caught with a carp, this took ages to catch ~10 mins, the clumps i caught using lures, and the garbage was with the earth worms. man this fishing stuff is a pain in the ass. The carp you can catch about anything with as well ratio wise i gave up testing to see what it is, but know that you can catch all these.
Conclusion
I mainly made this based off of my own research and I get that there are more in depth guides that list everything, but I feel as if my guide is unique compared to the others where they just copied and pasted data. Im testing stuff out for myself in hopes that others find it useful and have a potential laugh at my endeavors in fishing with that dumbass red fish, and the peter griffin ben shapiro crossover that i yoinked from r/arabfunny. Anyways I think Im done updating this guide for fishing, its quite the hassle doing all this, if I am to update this guide it is tips and tricks that I discovered while playing the game much like the current fishing thing Ive done.
P.S. Counter is the worst thing in this game it offers nothing I despise it the only plus is if youve memorized every attack pattern and can do the counter correctly, which is why Ive removed it from my setup I dont find it beneficial and for bosses this move is a waste of space, instead of counter I use Dark Gluttony which absorbs all projectiles around and I have found this way more useful that the horrendous counter. Also spamming roll is quicker than just running and I havent timed it but if you roll then left click once with a 1 handed sword I think you get the distance of 2 rolls in a shorter timeframe, so feel free to correct me on that but running is useless apart from how stupid the mc looks when he runs with his torso not moving while his upperbody is tilted at a 45 degree angle, rolling is the way to go.
P.S.S. I like the changes they made to spears in this game they feel a lot better and actually versatile as opposed to automata where i felt like the spears were dog ass and offered nothing unless you maxxed them out.

If youve got to this either youve skipped to the end or youve read everything and I appreciate it either way, you clicked on the guide and some of you have shown it love once again thank you guys and I might update it like I said in the conclusion, it depends on what I find and if I want to ruin the game for myself or others lol.
