Introduction
Mars War Logs Crafting Guide

I began putting this info together while planning for my extreme difficulty playthrough, when I discovered that a lot of the info I wanted was either inaccurate or missing in the guides that I found online. This guide is concerned only with identifying what gear you can acquire in the game, how you can upgrade it, and what character traits or skills are required to do so. It completely ignores combat, so if you need tips on that look elsewhere.

I begin the guide with the section on skills and traits, as that nicely summarizes what you get for your points if you know what you want and are just trying to plan a character. If you want to see the details of the gear that's referenced, or just find out what's possible, then check the equipment, items, and components sections for the full stats and material requirements.

Hope you find the info useful. Please note below if you notice anything inaccurate. This info is correct as of the current Steam version of the game on the date of posting. Enjoy!

**SPOILER ALERT**
If you haven't played through the full game yet, and you want to discover the various equipment for yourself as you play, then seriously, what are you doing looking in a guide? This contains a full list, so go finish your playthrough and come back to plan your next one.

Weapons
***************************************************
EQUIPMENT
You can buy any weapon or armor except the ones you start the game with from at least one merchant. However, thoroughly searching the game world will give you at least one of every upgradeable weapon or armor, generally not long after you first encounter a merchant who can sell it to you. So if you are willing to wait a little longer and search everywhere, and don't want multiples of a given type of weapon or armor, you can save the money you'd spend buying them from a merchant. If on the other hand you want the best gear available immediately, or want to try an alternate upgrade path on the same type of weapon or armor without recycling the upgrades in your original one, you can simply get it directly from the first merchant that offers. If you're interested in the non-upgradeable weapons and armor, though, they're almost exlusively available only from merchants.
***************************************************
WEAPONS
Weapons are one-handed melee implements that allow you to deal various kinds of damage to your enemies, and sometimes apply additional effects to your enemies or give additional bonuses to your statistics. They can be obtained by looting crates or dead bodies you did not kill, by purchasing them from merchants, or by receiving them as a quest reward. When no longer needed, they can be recycled or sold to merchants.

ARMOR UPGRADES
Unlike weapon upgrades, Shoulder, Forearm, and Knee slots always have the same options as the other slots on that particular piece of armor. Thus you can put any upgrade available for that armor in any or all of the slots on it, but the upgrade's effect is weaker the lower the slot is on the body. It went well! The difficulty felt just about right. I didn't stay stuck on any one part for long so long as I kept trying different tactics, but it was unforgiving enough to be satisfying when I made it to the end.
