I was struggling to get this one done, though I really shouldn't of been, so just in case anyone else is...

Simply use a gaming console controller.

My PS4 controller just needed to be identified through steam. This was done by going to Settings - Controller - General Controller Settings - Clicking PlayStation Configuration Support.

I would assume that an Xbox controller just has to be connected. Then it is a simple case of using both the keyboard and the controller, completing the race and getting the achievement. Dual box or make someone else in the house play :)
