Chests are a great way to gather items needed to complete quests. I find that the level of difficulty on the puzzles doesn't corelate to where you are in the game. This can be really frustrating when there's a time limit.

One of the main ways (I think maybe, ONLY way) to get chests is by banishing creatures. Opening chests requires energy, so it can be really daunting if you fail at solving the puzzle in the time given. If you want to do it on your own, I recommend taking a screenshot of the puzzle and pausing the game. Paste this screenshot to a photo editor (I use Paint) and try to solve it there, this way you have all the time in the world.

There's more than one way to solve these puzzles. Generally, the node with the most connections go in the middle. Try to spread them out a bit so it's clearer to see which direction you need to go.

I start with the outer pipes because they are limited to certain directions.
