Hemland
"The birthplace and home of the dwarves. Its rocky environment has shaped the dwarves over the years. It was here that they first learned many of the skills that once allowed them to conquer and maintain almost every country in Vanaheim.

The dwarves have lived isolated here since the Great War. Only Hemfort remains of all the great cities that once could be found all over the world.
"
The Backyard
"Tutorial.
A step-by-step explanation of how to control your own clan of dwarves.

A small area where many inexperienced clan leaders-to-be have tested their command-skills before undertaking the Trial.

Located right next to Hemfort, this is area is small and was previously used to store equipment and resources. It's a good spot for some basic training.
"

MAIN QUEST (100 influence points)
  • How To Dig
You start out with a throne room, a spawning pool and a digger. Find your digger and have him dig a dirt block near the throne. You should find yourself in long corridor with gold blocks along the walls.

NOTE: The areas with ??? are undiscovered rooms. Take note, they may not be on the same floor as your center point so you would have to either dig up or dig down. Don't forget to supply ladders to your diggers so they can climb up from digging down or reach up when digging up.

  • Gather Resources
You will be be then asked to dig the gold from the walls and from there you will discover an even larger room. This room will have fertile soil (darker dirt with green leafy outlook). This is supposedly an old part of Hemfort.

  • The Dwarfling
You will then be tasked to spawn a dwarfling from the Hemfort window at the bottom right of your HUD.

  • The Crafter Dwarf
When your dwarfling spawns, you will be asked to upgrade him to a crafter by pressing the green + button next to his name. The crafter cost you 50 food and will build items for you. And no, you cannot change your digger dwarft into a crafter or any other profession. Once they are given a specialization, they are set for life. No midlife crisis or they get banished from the kingdom by YOU!

  • Somewhere to Sleep
Now, you are to assign your crafter to build a bed. Click the build icon at the bottom left of the HUD or simply press B key. Put the bed down at your desired location and the crafter will come over to build it. At the moment, it will not cost you anything to build the bed as this is a tutorial but later it will.

  • Somewhere to Eat
At this point, your prince will complaining why you need to build beds for non-royal dwarves and that the ground should have been sufficient enough. Tsk, spoiled brat are we. But at least he recognizes that dwarves need a table to eat. Like the bed, you will be asked to build a table. You can repeat the exact same steps for the crafter as before.

  • The Fertilization Stone
Now we go the table but no incoming supply of food. Fertile soil is ready but no sunlight. The fertilization stone acts as the "underground sunlight" in order for plants to grow. It covers a good range, which is 5 blocks directly across the fertilization stone. Have your crafter build the fertilization stone for you. When it is built, you will see green particles rising from the soil affected by the fertilization stone.

  • Finally Food
From the build menu, simply place food crops around the fertilization stone to plant them. Take note, your food levels aren't really decreasing as it normally would due to this being a tutorial level. But plant the food crops anyway.

  • Another Dwarfling
Next step is to spawn another dwarfling from the Hemfort window.

  • The Worker Dwarf
When the dwarfling arrives, upgrade it to a worker dwarf. This will cost you 50 gold but he will be tending to your plants for you.

  • Assigning Work
Sometimes you may have more than one fertilization stone to manage a huge settlement. So how do the dwarves identify which stones they work at? You would have to hit that + button on the fertilization stone to add a worker tending to it. Obviously hitting the - button will remove 1 worker from the stone per click. You may have a maximum of 3 workers tending to a single fertilization stone. Crops ripen fast so you would need all the help you could get to optimize your potential yield.

  • Another Dwarfling
Go spawn another dwarfling to be your warrior. As a prince, you want to protect your gold...I mean dwarves.

  • The Military Dwarf
Upgrade your latest dwarfling to a military dwarfling, which will cost you 50 food. At first, I did not see the point of having these dwarves as there were not much threat at the beginning. However, later in the game, you will find yourself assigning several dwarves to fight for you and giving them almost 24/7 training to prepare for bosses like level 80 mages. Also, at the beginning levels, your prince will not be able to fight or defend himself but as you progress, you will be able to.

  • The Explorer
Generally when they ask you to explore, you'd see an opening covered by a dirt block or two. You are literally surrounded by undigium (a block that refuses to be dug out). Hence, the two dirt block entrance way is your best bet.

  • Monster!!
If you dug out the correct entry way, you would find yourself in a tiny room with a level 1 mole. Simply teleport your military dwarf by pressing 5 button, left click on your military dwarf and right click on the location you want him to teleport to. At this point your prince goes on frantic ranting about how he should be saved or it will all be over lol. Sadly it's true. If your prince dies, then it's game over.

  • The Locked Door
Now use the interact button or the 2 key and click on the lever next to the door. This should open to another passage, which you can have your digger dig for you.

NOTE: What do you do with the items? Most of the time, I find no use for them so I sell them for gold and resources. Some yield gold, others food, wood, stone or even research points!

  • Deep Down
At this point you should find yourself in a tiny room with a sign that says "dig" with an arrow pointing downwards. Like I mentioned above, you would want to monitor your diggers when digging down as they need to be supplied ladders to climb back up.

  • The Tablet
You will need to dig about 4 blocks down before you will find yourself in a big room. And much to your dismay it's not a treasure that you will find but rather a stone table with a message from your King Father.

You have finished the main quest and may return to the world menu if you choose to. I would however, suggest that you use this time to finish the King's Quests to earn additional influence points.

KING'S QUESTS (optional)
  • The Digger (25 influence points)
Dig 25 blocks (any dirt blocks would do)

  • Stocking Up (50 influence points)
Gather 50 food (should reach this in no time)

  • The Builder (75 influence points)
Build 10 objects (build beds, tables or ladders!)

Total Influence Points: 250/350
The Trial
"Tutorial.
Here, any clan leader-to-be needs to learn the more advanced aspects of controlling his or her own dwarven clan.

Only those who complete the hardships of the Trial have the right to be come clan leaders. It is only a true dwarven leader that will be able to reach the end and complete the Trial.

It is here that legends are born.
"

MAIN QUEST (100 influence points)

First things first, expand the area of your fertilization stone such that most (if not all) fertile are accessible to your workers. I would suggest you assign 3 workers (using up 2 of 3 dwarflings) on your fertilization stone because it is VERY EASY to starve when starting your settlement. You food rate ain't increasing unless you are selling foreign goods from undiscovered rooms. Therefore, it's better to have a steady supply of food. Of course, don't forget to plant the food as well. Simply assigning workers with no work to be done is just dumb. Eventually you will fulfill your Food Gatherer quest.

You have to decide whether you want to complete the King's Quests or not. If you don't intend to, the last dwarfling can be turned into a military dwarf and be posted at the guard post along with the original 2 military dwarfs later. However, if you do intend to do the King's Quests, I would suggest you turn the last dwarfling into a scholar (costing 50 tourmaline), build him a research table and start researching asap.

  • Bed Builder
    Build 2 beds

Next, build a bed or two for your dwarves remaining at the center point. It is essential that there are always free beds when dwarves need some rest. Otherwise, you will find them sleeping on the floor...which won't grant you as much boost as sleeping on the bed. You are not restricted to building only 2 beds. You may build more beds later on as you progress.

  • Food Gatherer
    Gather 150 food

In, time you will complete this for as long as you have your food planted and workers tending.

  • Fancy Taste
    Build 20 decorations

When you have enough resources, start building your decorations. I would suggest you opt for the cheapest one like the wooden wall that cost 1 wood each. Why? A common mistake of a new player is that they work too much to personalize and decorate their settlement on campaign mode. You have to remember that once you have accomplished the quests here and move onto the next level, you will start with a fresh new settlement. Whatever decors you put in the last level, will not appear on the next level. Campaign mode is about completing your missions. If you want a vast settlement to simply personalize, I would suggest you do it under Custom mode.

  • The Explorer
    Find the outpost room

Look around and you will find a "dig" sign with an arrow pointing to a block of dirt. Have your diggers dig until you uncover the outpost room. The cobwebs here will give your military dwarfs exp when they remove them.

Take note that a teleport disruptor is within range. Any teleporting activities withing this range is impossible for as long as the teleport disruptor is on.

  • The Outpost
    Assign 3 warriors

EDIT: Found that you can assign 3 warriors even without having 3 of them.

At this point, if you haven't turned your last dwarfling into a scholar, you can turn him into a military dwarf and have him join the other 2 original warriors at the guard post. However, if you did turn your last dwarfling into a scholar, you would simply have to expand your spawning level to spawn more dwarflings.

To level your spawning pool, you would need 1000 gold. But since your storage level is only at 750, any incoming gold beyond 750 will be wasted. First, you need to upgrade your storage capacity by building chests or cupboards. I prefer to build square chests as they are from easily renewable sources and are quite cheap for the storage capacity they offer. For 100 wood you will get +100 storage capacity. Therefore if you build 3 of these square chests, you should have 1050 storage capacity. Your settlement is abundant on free space so build away!

When your storage capacity is at least 1000, you can now convert all incoming wood into gold until you get 1000 gold to upgrade your spawning pool. When your spawning pool is upgraded, you can then spawn and new dwarfling and turn him to a warrior. To assign him at the guard post, simply click on the green + button on the guard post just as you would on a fertilization stone. Assigning them to a guard post is like relocating them to another area permanently.

NOTE: If your resources maxes out your storage capacity, all incoming resources of that type will be wasted away. For instance, you if have 1050 max storage and your food level is at 1050, your incoming food will not add up and merely disappear. Even if you increase your storage later, the lost resource is gone. What I do to tackle this (while new storage is being built) is I sell them back to hemfort for gold or buy some resource with that overflow of gold. This way, the overflow resource is not wasted.

  • Sleepyheads
Build 2 more beds for the military dwarfs

Have your crafter build 2 beds at the outpost.

  • Table Builder
Build a table for the military dwarfs

Have your crafter build a table at the outpost.

After the table is built, you will find that the door to the teleport disruptor will open. Your military dwarfs will immediately destroy the teleport disruptor for you.

  • Digging For Gold
    Find the treasure chamber

Go ahead and dig further down where the teleport disruptor was. You will find that the treasure chamber contains a red crystal guarded by three level 3 goblin warriors.

  • Combat
    Defeat the Guardians

Simply provide path to the treasure chamber and your warriors should head to fight the goblins with ease.

  • The Treasure
    Interact with the Red Crystal
Use interact option and click on the crystal. Right when you thought this crystal will give you immense wealth as reward, in turned out your father is planning to have you recover the lost dwarven lands using the crystals which were made by the mages!

KING'S QUESTS (optional)
  • The Researcher (25 influence points)
Unlock 1 tech (any tech would do)

  • Specialized Researcher (50 influence points)
Specialize a military dwarf (unlock the "military specialization tech and level up your dwarf to level 5 then choose between melee or ranged specialization)

Tech tree: Training Objects >>> Military Specialization

  • Trap Builder (75 influence points)
Build and activate a trap (unlock the "engineering tech" and build 3 traps and enough generators to power your traps)

Tech tree: Cloth Armor >>> Locksmithing >>> Engineering

I built the cheapest traps such as blade traps (50 gold 30 iron) or arrow (50 gold 50 wood) traps. These traps require 50 energy each. You could simply build 3 mechanical generators (60 gold 10 tourmaline) which would output 50 energy each.

Total Influence Points: 500/700
Concluding Note
NOTE: This is without doubt the easiest stage on the game. But for completion's sake, I wanted to make a walkthrough for Hemland as well.
