I read this in it's entirety with a big grin on my face. Love this game, and dope community.
The one thing I didn't emphasize in the guide is how good blocking is - basically anything that's not magic or a gunshot gets completely shut down if you time the block right, the only thing you need to worry about is running out of stamina (...which arguably is something you SHOULD be very worried about)
The advantage of attacks on the shoulder buttons of a controller is that it lets you move the camera around while attacking. In Nioh, there's literally zero advantage to not using the lock on camera. Your movement is not restricted at all while locked on, and since nioh has no melee aim-assist, you will miss A LOT if locked off.
You'll also want to hold block every time you dodge in nioh. You can do this in type B scheme but it's easier with A. As someone who has used both schemes, I can say with certain that most things feel more comfortable and fluid in type A.
There is also advanced tech that will be harder in B, and evasion canceling is actually impossible. Most players probably won't care about these things but they might decide later they want to learn them.
This is not true. My friends and I have tested this. You get the exact gear that it is, yes. However, the stats on it, and the abilities on the gear are not the same. There have been way different rolls on some stuff that have been on my revenants gear.
The game just kinda gets more difficult, here's some things to keep in mind:
- Heavy armor has a bonus percentage defense against physical damage, it makes a lot of difference
- Blocking is really powerful (against physical attacks)
- A lot of big open areas get easier if you snipe enemies from afar before entering
- Don't forget to do the Dojo challenge missions to unlock higher-tier skills when they're available
- Gunpowder and Shrapnel bombs are excellent for dealing with groups of enemies, investing in the ninja skill tree gives you rechargeable versions of them
- Don't forget to replace your gear with more powerful stuff occasionally
- Tempering your favorite gear to get abilities suiting your playstyle is kinda important
