New Steps
Use the program I wrote to install the Last Evil Unity Mod Manager:
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2682032040
It comes with a later version of the mod manager (0.24.0.0) and also the version originally packaged by Flametorch (0.22.15.0). Either one should work.
Old Steps
In this guide, you will:
  1. Download the mod manager.
  2. Extract the mod manager.
  3. Run the mod manager.
  4. Configure the mod manager.
  5. Activate the mod manager.
  6. Subscribe to a workshop mod.
  7. Verify the installation.
Acquire the Mod Manager
The developer of Last Evil packaged an existing project with the settings you need to target the Last Evil Unity game to allow modding. However, it does not come with the base game, so it must be downloaded.
  1. Open this forum post: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/823910/discussions/0/3111392579693090369/

  2. Click the Google Drive link:
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16hEHdFFlNgmmuj0xlEqHrKkT6C3xzlc2?usp=sharing

  3. Download the "UnityModManager_LE.zip":
Extract the Mod Manager
Now that the ZIP file is downloaded, extract it somewhere that is not in the game directory, since the application has logging messages to that effect:

  1. Once the download is completed, you will need to extract it. Please be advised that, if you use Windows' "Extract All" option (rather than a 3rd-party program like 7-zip), the files from the ZIP will probably be marked as blocked, which will cause a blue warning screen to show up later.

  2. Extract it somewhere:

  3. That folder should look similar to this:
Activate the Mod Manager
  1. Run UnityModManager.exe.

  2. If you extracted things with Windows' "Extract All" feature, you're probably seeing this:

Click "More Info" on that screen, and "Run Anyway".

  3. Now click the red "Select" next to "Folder":

  4. Make sure "DoorstopProxy" is picked in the "Installation method" area.

  5. Click "Install".

  6. It should look like this:

  7. Close the program. You're done with it unless you want to install a non-workshop mod (re: if you were developing one of your own).
Verify Installation
  1. Subscribe to a mod from the workshop.
  2. Run Last Evil.
  3. You should now see a yellow "Mod Manager" button in the lower left.

  4. Click that button to see a list of loaded mods.
  5. If whatever you subscribed to is in there, consider this process finished.
Done
To wrap up, here are some things I think you should know:
  1. You don't need to ever open the Unity Mod Manager again after you've set it up correctly.
  2. You can turn off mods in-game without unsubscribing from them.
