Introduction
The campaigns in Gladius are an interesting addition to the standard 4X formula. They can often be a source of frustration rather than enjoyment due to large amounts of hostile forces attacking you. There’s nothing quite like losing a long game just as you were on the cusp of victory because of an event time limit or a massive invasion force.

There are three main campaign mission types:

Explore.
Produce.
Battle.

During Explore and Produce missions, it’s frequently possible to put your campaign progress on hold while you deal with AI enemy factions or build up your forces, but you rarely know what the campaign will ask of you next.

In this guide, we’ll take a quick look at the T'au campaign chapters to make it easier for you to decide when to march forward through the campaign and when to hold back.

As with all quests, you can choose to do this after your game ends in a normal victory if you don't want to risk also being attacked by another player.

If this guide helped you, please remember to rate it up so that it can help others too!

Chapter 1 - The Greater Good

Produce

Simple enough. I usually choose to use this on Kroot Hounds as they're great scouts and do decent damage early in the game.

Produce

Hey great, another quest that wants us to unlock something we'd get anyway. Remember that your Fire Warriors are the ones who will be performing the Markerlight.
Chapter 2 - Virtue Before Duty

Produce

Research and produce the Shan'ar'tol which will produce your heroes. Also, start researching the Ethereal if you haven't already.

Produce & Explore

Once your Ethereal is produced, head out and check the tiles. You may want to make sure he has an escort so that neutral units don't swarm him.

Produce

This should be simple enough for you. Remember that the Utopia bonus drops from duplicate building types in each T'au city.

This quest will require that you unlock and activate a Tier 5 tech to progress, so now is a great time to explore, push enemies back, build another city, etc.

Side Note: Chapter 3 will involve unlocking and leveling up the Commander hero, so you may wish to start that now. Be careful, however, with progressing through Chapter 3 instantly as Chapter 4 will involve defeating a sizable Chaos force. Make sure you've researched and built some vehicles like Hammerhead or Sky Ray Gunships otherwise you may be overwhelmed.
Chapter 3 - The Unconvertibles

Produce

Simply produce that Commander hero, and get him leveled up.
Chapter 4 - The Experience Machine

Battle

This will spawn a 1 tile neutral Chaos city nearby, along with 2 Maulerfiends, 1 Helbrute, 3 Havoc squads, 2 Chaos Space Marine squads, and 5 Chaos Cultist squads. Nothing should be too hard, just make sure you keep your infantry away from the Havocs and the Maulerfiend.

Battle

You will immediately be thrown into an Invasion style fight once you've defeated the Chaos forces. Invasion means that the units will spawn in waves at random locations around any cities you own. Predicting where they'll spawn or attack can be hard, thankfully though, you should be able to kill them as they spawn if you're proactive. The enemy forces here are a mix Space Marine and Imperial Guard, and you will see all sorts of their units types including Infantry, Scout Sentinels, Hunters, and Predators. This Invasion should be easier to deal with than the Chaos forces were, just make sure your army doesn't get spread too thin, or that another player attacks you at the same time.
Chapter 5 - The Survival Lottery

Produce

You may already have 3 Bentu'sin Labs, but producing 1000 Research could easily take over 10 turns even if you're using Wisdom Shared every turn. Once you finish producing the Research, you'll be moving onto Chapter 6, which means a lot of fighting. Continue producing units, bolstering your defenses, and installing support modules as you see fit.
Chapter 6 - The Trolley Problem

Battle

This one can be tougher than what you've faced so far. It'll involve taking out multiple Level 6-8 units including 4 Hammerhead Gunships, 4 Crisis Battlesuits, 4 Pathfinder squads, 2 Fire Warrior squads, 1 XV95 Ghostkeel Battlesuit, 3 TX4 Piranhas. This is certainly a sizable force, and one you do not want to face if you're already fighting the army of another player. Also be aware of the fact that these units have access to their own drones that they can and will spawn adding in the potential for more danger.

Once all of these units are dealt with, you'll also have to take out a neutral T'au city to move on.

After killing the forces but before killing the city, be sure you're ready for the final fight. Get any units and technology you want or will need.

Battle

Another Invasion style event, this one will be even harder, but victory is close.

This event will involve groups of 4-6 enemies spawning every other wave. These will almost always include one or more: XV95 Ghostkeel Battlesuits, KV128 Stormsurge Battlesuits, AX39 Sun Shark Bombers, or T'au infantry units. Be sure you are prepared to counter this with whatever units you prefer. I also saw some random IG infantry units running around, but this should be irrelevant to you compared to the other things you'll be fighting.

Eventually after about 10-12 turns, this level 10 Commander hero will spawn.

Once they die, you'll have about 3 more waves of enemies to defeat, then you'll be victorious.
