Introduction
Learning the Ritual
You can start knowing this ritual if your first god was Nyalda and, when the First Clan split, your ancestors were the most dissatisfied.

Otherwise, you naturally learn it through sacrifice to Inilla.

Rewards
  • Improved foraging.
More food is always a good thing in this game. Note that your foragers bring in food throughout the year, not just when you send out a mission or conduct a venture.

  • A magical vessel of your choice.
Your choice from several treasures grouped by being baskets/bowls/drinking horns, rather than by what they actually do. Only available if you successfully win the gods' trust by presenting them with food in the first stage of the ritual.

  • Strengthening of the quester’s abilities.
Increases Food and Lore by a full level each (that is, the component skills of Foraging).

  • Strengthen all your priestesses and female leaders.
Aids female leaders in tests vs. Divine for several years.
Requires succeeding at descending into a cave with Nyalda in the first stage of the ritual.

  • Make your foragers into keen-eyed scouts.
Significantly increases your chance of spotting raids on your lands; doing so means you face full raids with a larger force and have a chance to fight off herd raids rather than just losing the cows. If you're getting a lot of messages that you completely missed herd raids, this might be a good thing to look into!

  • A treasure, the Basket of Inilla.
"Grants divine blessing to worshippers of Inilla"—that is, bonuses on particular skills.
Preparation
Sacred Time
Many Sacred Time magic allocations are helpful for this ritual. However, they are not all equally useful.

Wilds magic (granted by circle members who worship Inilla herself and her husband Dostal) is extremely useful, as is Exploring (Zarlen).

Ritual (Shaman, Relandar, seven different religions on the circle) and Harmony (Hyalor) can also be useful in more than one situation.

And Diplomacy (Ekarna, Hyalor), Fields (Nyalda) and Pastures (Busenari, Gamari, Uryarda) are each useful for a single choice.

As always, you must put at least two points of magic into any area to have an effect during rituals.

Timing
As with all other rituals, there's a penalty for repeating this one too soon! And unlike, say, Busenari Light Finder, there's no reason to do that. Wait the full five years.

Asking Other Clans to Help
You can ask Rider clans to help, and should. Clans that side with you over Cenala will almost certainly help, unless you've earned a reputation as a rite-shirker by refusing to grant them equivalent help in scenes. If Cenala isn't a factor, having a good diplomat on the circle helps, as does having

You can also ask Wheels to help. Though Inilla is the least-regarded figure of their pantheon (and I think it's correspondingly hard to convince them) it is possible.

Sacrifice
Technically, I don't think you actually have to make an unusually large sacrifice here.

In practice, I pretty much always max out the goods slider myself. Just in case.
Choosing a Quester
The quester for this ritual must be a non-shaman woman, and the game recommends one skilled in Food and Lore. Alas, high Food and high Lore are rarely found in a single person, let alone an Inilla worshipper. So you're going to have to make compromises.

High Food alone may get a quester through the first three stages of the ritual; high Lore might work, though it's less likely to have a suitable loremistress on hand.

Magic can be useful for some choices, though it definitely won't get the quester through on its own; the same is true of Diplomacy.

It's also worth noting that all choices in the last stage of the ritual test Bargaining.

As usual, Inilla worshippers do have an advantage—not a huge one, but if your Inilla and Busenari priestesses are tied for best Food in the clan, pick the Inillan.
Stage 1: Elmal and Nyalda
Though Inilla is the daughter of the Fire Tribe's leaders, they don't actually know her. (In the Golden City the Riders had no use for a goddess of foraging; therefore, Inilla was only born after they left.) Before she can help them, she has to convince them that she's their daughter—a member of the family and tribe, someone they can trust and rely on.

How does the quester accomplish this?

Descend into a cave with Nyalda.

Stage 2: Sneaking Past Yatelo
Yatelo, the Hungry Sun, god of hunger and bandits, is hoarding the food Inilla's clan needs to survive. She finds him sleeping with his arms around it. How does she steal it from him?

By singing him deeper into slumber.
  • Test: Singing (Diplomacy + Leadership?) vs. Alertness
  • Magic: Exploring

  • Notes: You must have sworn spirits besides Raven to have this option. If you fail the test, you will lose spirits.

Ally with the berries against Yatelo.

  • Notes: You will lose some herds—a small number if you pull it off (perhaps four) and a larger one if you fail (perhaps sixteen).

Ride higher in the sky than Yatelo can follow.
  • Test: Exploring (Bargaining + Combat) vs. Darkness
  • Magic: Exploring
  • Other Bonus: Bat Spirit; Zarlen circle member; Zarlen shrine; Zarlen chief; Pure Horse circle member?; hero (Ayvtu) quester)
Stage 4: Bargaining with Birds
Having found the golden bush that gives this ritual's source myth its name, Inilla must persuade the birds who have also found it to share with her.

All options in this stage test Bargaining. However, they test it against different things, so various spirits and treasures can help out—the best choice here will depend on factors other than your quester's skills.
