let me help here :)
1. repairing building is automatic now, dwarf just pick what he required (crushed granite, or granite block etc) and repairs. Same goes for fuel, it's automatic.
2. When you buy items in the town, let say wood, dwarf will go and get it ONLY when you need wood for buildings/production, otherwise it will just stay in buy section, in town, but I think that's okay.
3. drill - there're 2 types, horizontal and later - vertical. And yes, you need to put drill on the ore you would like to gather and simply build it there. What i noticed, is that you can build drill close to railway, so you dont actually need path to drill, from railway, dwarf in a cart can gather resources Which actually make sense in my opinion.
yeah it will pick everything in the area it drills (blue outlined squares when placing the drill, if i remember correctly). make sure your dwarves can reach it to first build it and then to gather the materials.
Not sure how to repair a building. I think it requires granite dust and the dwarves just go and repair it if they have time. maybe it changed.
A few questions.
1. How do you heal a building or item?
2. What happens when I buy things from other towns? It seems that my dwarves will go sell stuff right away, but not necessarily go and buy stuff.
3. I have not figured out how to "use" the drill yet. Does it just automatically pick metals that are close to it? and do they have to be in the background wall?
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds!
Yea, actually I'm experimenting with enabling different professions across dwarfs :)
Also I build smithy/cave farm and few other buildings waaaaaaay deep in the mountain (trying to reach to the bottom - lava), so with these few buildings, dwarfs do not have to go all the way up for parts to build rails and so on.
