I wrote these steps, using Windows 10 Home, version 1709. Some players have reported that the steps don't fix the problem in some of the last Window 10 updates, and I think for these updates maybe could be useful a windowerer program to launch the game initially in a window to change configuration after, but i never tried. Just know that depending your system, the guide could work or not. Thanks for reading.
2021. UPDATE TO THE GAME STATUS: It seems the game does not work on systems with Windows 10 with the last updates. To me it works with the version 1709 (I did not allow that Windows 10 update to newest updates, because i did not like their privacy). It is a pity that the game does not work for almost all users. A person tried to fix the code, all the bugs that has (and achieve it), but did not receive support from developers, and actually the game is abandoned. I'm sorry, i tried my best to help.

2021. ACTUALIZACIÓN DEL ESTADO DEL JUEGO: Parece que el juego no funciona en sistemas con Windows 10 con las últimas actualizaciones. A mi me funciona con la version 1709 (No permiti que Windows 10 se actualizase a las nuevas versiones porque yo no estaba de acuerdo con la privacidad que tenían). Es una lástima que el juego no funcione para casi todos los usuarios. Una persona intentó arreglar el código para solucionar todos los errores (y lo consiguió), pero no recibió ningún apoyo de los desarrolladores, y actualmente el juego está abandonado. Lo siento, intenté lo mejor que pude para ayudar.

If the game does not start in Windows 10, follow these steps:

1.Open the folder where "Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory" was installed:
"...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory\"

2.Right click over file "PEA.exe", select "Properties"

3.Select "Compatibility" tab

4.Mark:
x "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
and select:
"Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

5.Also mark these options:
x "Override high DPI scaling behaviour" - Scaling performed by: Application

x "Disable fullscreen optimizations"

6.Clic "Ok"

I add the FIX to solve the error about the no animation of track-wheels (Thank you to Dot Matrix and plasmajam for the solution):

7.Search on internet, and download: "dgVoodoo2". Decompress it and look for file "D3D8.dll" (don't worry about antivirus possible alarm, it is a false positive, the file is ok). DgVoodoo2 is a graphics wrapper that converts old graphics APIs to Direct3D, for old games can be understood by modern systems

8.Copy "D3D8.dll" inside the game folder (it will solve the initial not animation of tank track-wheels)

9.If none of the above steps fixes the game launch, try this one:
-Open the game folder, the path will be similar to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory\"
-Right mouse button on the "settings.db" file and choose the option "Open with ..."
-Choose "Show applications"> and choose "Notepad".
-Look at "main settings"> "[settings] main", and where it says:

fullscreen = 1

change it to:

fullscreen = 0

-Choose from the notepad menu:
"File"> "Save", and close the file
-Try to start the game now.
-This will make the game start in windowed mode, making it possible to make configuration changes to adapt it to your system.


I hope this helps. The game has some serious incompatibilities with modern systems, but is fun to play :)

Si el juego no se inicia en Windows 10, seguir estos pasos:

1.Abrir la carpeta donde se instaló "Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory":
"...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory\"

2.Clic derecho sobre el archivo "PEA.exe", elegir "Propiedades"

3.Elegir la pestaña de "Compatibilidad"

4.Marcar:
x "Ejecutar este programa en modo de compatibilidad para:" y elegir:
"Windows XP (Service Pack 3)"

5.También hay que marcar las opciones:
x "Invalidar el comportamiento de ajuste de PPP alto" - Ajuste realizado por: Aplicación

x "Deshabilitar optimizaciones de pantalla completa"

6.Clic "Aceptar"

Añado la solución del error por el que las cadenas y ruedas no tienen animación (Gracias a Dot Matrix y a plasmajam por la solución):

7.Buscar en internet, y descargar "dgVoodoo2". Descomprimir y buscar el archivo "D3D8.dll" (no preocuparse si el antivirus diese una posible alerta, es un falso positivo, el archivo está bien, pero lo puede detectar como potencialmente peligroso por la forma que tiene de funcionar con los gráficos). DgVoodoo2 es una especie de intérprete que convierte las antiguas API de gráficos a Direct3D, para que los sistemas más modernos puedan entender bien los juegos antiguos.

8.Copiar el archivo "D3D8.dll" dentro del directorio del juego (solucionará el error de la animación de las ruedas y cadenas)

9.Si ninguno de los pasos anteriores arregla el inicio del juego, prueba este:
-Abre la carpeta del juego, la ruta será similar a:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory\"
-Botón derecho del ratón sobre el archivo "settings.db" y elegir la opción "Abrir con..."
-Elegir "Mostrar aplicaciones" > y elegir "Bloc de notas".
-Buscar en "main settings" > "[settings] main" , y donde pone:

fullscreen = 1

cambiarlo a:

fullscreen = 0

-Elegir en el menú del bloc de notas:
"Archivo" > "Guardar", y cerrar el archivo
-Intenta iniciar el juego ahora.
-Esto hará que el juego inicie en modo ventana, siendo posible realizar los cambios de configuración para adaptarlo a tu sistema.


Espero que esto ayude. El juego tiene algunas incompatibilidades serias con los sistemas modernos, pero es divertido de jugar :)
