With the addition of the Starship Trait Terran Goodbye[sto.gamepedia.com], a Critical Chance of 100% is now more achievable than ever before (albeit ludicrously expensive).

To measure your ships Critical Chance most accurately, I like to load up the TFO - Defense of Starbase One, open DPS tracker[www.sto-dps.com], park myself in a spot near some enemy spawns and just mash spacebar to fire all weapons and activate all my BOFF abilites. After the 8 minutes are up, look at the tracker and check the critical chance for your weapon(s) of choice.

I'm aware that it would be more optimal to have less Critical Chance, and greater Severity, however, I like seeing the word Critical in-front of every big yellow number on my screen, what can I say.

Ingredients

Disclaimer: for this guide you DO have to be a Romulan, for Super Romulan Operative boffs, however other factions can access these to a limited extent, and I believe Jem'Hadar Vanguard and Cardassian BOFF's are also a good fit.

Be a Romulan -
⠀Any faction alignment, as long as your part of the Romulan Cool Club 8-)
Any Career path ( Tactical, Science, Engineer) -
⠀However Tactical does help as it gives you access to Attack Pattern Alpha[sto.gamepedia.com] ⠀and Tactical Fleet[sto.gamepedia.com]. These help fill gaps if you do not have other aspects of ⠀the build, or havent built up 3 stacks of Terran Goodbye.

You are correct, I was giving all the major sources that people use if you happen not to have one of them; as I say at the start, it is not even "optimal" to have 100% crit chance, but it is fun

it is a waste to have anything over 100%... think about it, how can you have a higher chance than 100%? The gamer caps at 100 LMAO

That is false, you can go into space, equip surgical strikes 3 and some of the above and see it go over 50%, maybe the person who told you that was thinking of the trait 'particle manipulator'

not that i know anything about it but i've heard people say the whole crit thing was hard capped around 50% . Can anyone confirm or deny this from personal experience/ knowledge?

Watcher boffs have better crit chance (3% chance / severity), but Super Romulan Operatives are better in terms of damage ( 2% chance / 5% severity), depends if you rather want better damage or that magic 100%. worth saying ths guide needs a long overdue overhaul tbqh

since they changed surgical strikes which gives +30% crit chance you don't need many of these things, that being said, if you want anywhere near the meta levels of dps you need to give cryptic a lot of your money, biggest problem with the game

Just a small critique, Would be handy if you put a little asterisk next to the items/traits that come from lockboxes/ships :)

personal endeavours have been increased so I believe you can get another 5% from there now, SRO's like you said, and you can get the free promo/lockbox packs with promo event campaign for the past few years and hopefully future years so you don't have to spend money to get a cool ship like the Vaadwaur Jugg or mirror warship now, surgical strikes has been buffed now, which gives you 30% crit chance now at rank 3 which would negate the need for starship traits, thats off the top of my head, for more in depth advice I would recommend youtubers like CasulSAB or Augmented Dictator Games beacuse they do tonnes of videos on builds and mechanics.
