I noticed the first video (developer logo) took a few seconds longer to load under dgvoodoo but that is the only problem.

so far.

both methods i have tried but no go. Here is my solution, i am running the game 16:9 with no problems, all tabs are visible and nothing is cut off.

First change the games res through the ini file (as per Stinger's post below)
set it to 1280X1024
1280X960 has black bars at the top and bottom of the screen and the image appears even more stretched. I chose 1280X1024 to fill the screen)

Then use dgvoodoo's options to set the game to 1920x1080 (or whatever res you desire, dgvoodoo will resize accordingly) I also used dgvoodoo's fsaa and anisotropic bells n whistles
for visual improvement.

done.

The research screen and datalog screen sizes (R and D hotkeys, respectively) both seem to be directly tied to your resolution width. There is no way to cleanly solve this issue given the inability to access the game's source code; the closest you can come is setting a narrower resolution; the closest I'm willing to go is an approximate 3:2 aspect ratio, 1550x1040px in borderless windowed mode as follows:

[Video]
flag_video_device_detection=0
voodoo_card=0
loading_screen=1
screen_width=1550
screen_height=1040
bit_depth=32
texture_mode=0
texture_mode_units=0
texture_mode_world=0
texture_mode_planets=0
texture_mode_nebulas=0
texture_mode_effects=0
texture_mode_weapons=0
texture_mode_explosions=0
texture_mode_extra=0
texture_mode_LOD=0
flag_fullscreen=0
windowed_frame_mode=0
center_window=1
texture_mode_mipmap=0

Thankfully, this appears to be the only issue the game suffers from higher resolutions, as so far I haven't seen a single other bug while playing through the campaigns.

Yes, it is pretty bad that buttons are cut off the edge of the screen on 16:9. I was doing the tutorial missions, but the end of mission screen was cut off on the very first mission! Is there any kind of fix for this?

I tried this, but some of the screens (like the research screen) do not appear to understand that size. You cannot access some of the buttons on them.
Yes,but it norm works on 4:3 resolution.

Very good directions except it isn't in the orbsetup.ini that needs to be changed it is the orb.ini file. Other than that the directions are good, I had to do this in order for the game to work at all. Thanks to Thief for this post!
