Okay first you survive by completing the tutorial. Then you get food by beating animals with that stone axe then you. start looting nearby houses and buildings (depending on your loot settings) after like 30m-1h you should have found a blunderbuss or a gun after you get this you go hunting for more food and water. And then you start upgrading skills i say start with advanced engineering so you can unlock the forge for later use then you should Pack mule and master chef these will allow you to cook better food on the camp fire and get more stamina (for people who run get Rule 1: Cardio). Then you should try to get a base such as a home (try to stay away from big buildings unless you have multiple people) when you have a base start upgrading it by holding right click with a stone axe. now it should be day 4-6 you should start setting spikes around your base to help during Day 7 (day may change depending on settings) during day 7 expect a bit of zombies at night (you will know when it is raid night by the red hue of the sky). during this raid get away from your base so the zombies don't mess it up as during raid night they track you no matter if your hiding or not.
