Kindred Fates Alpha Kinfolk Guide: Skulken
By Monster Tamer Bloba
Hey everybody bloba here, This is my first guide of this type so let me know what you think! And if you prefer I also have a video up on youtube :D I wanna give you guys an overview and then some gameplay tips on the kinfolk in the alpha. We will be starting with the kinfolk I have the most time with, Skulken.

Let's start with skulkens moves

Starting with Dark Volley
This is skulkens basic attack, One thing to note about it is even basic attacks and still be useful deal fair damage at a good range, so don’t be shy about using it.

Next we have skulken bread and butter Caustic Cloud
Caustic Cloud spawns a poisonous cloud in the area. Any enemies that are caught within the cloud will get the Poison status. This poison is absolutely deadly if you can hit your opponent with it then that's almost as good as killing them.

Getting to Skulkens Debuff move Startle
Startle lowers the physical and special defense of the target. This move is not that hard to pull off, If you want you can throw this in between your other moves when your opponent is hiding behind cover or if you get the drop on them.

Up next is Homing Blast
Homing Blast will track the enemy down and deals weak damage to the target. While this is weaker than your basic attack it can be good for dealing that last bit of damage to nearly dead foe who is on the run.

Now we have Skulkens most versatile moves Teleport.
On the surface it seems simple enough. Teleport allows the user to teleport around. If used right you can escape your opponent, chase them down and even set up traps for them. I would suggest using this together with Caustic Cloud So they can’t see you teleport away and maybe get the drop on them.

Last but not least we have Wither
Wither deals damage and slows down the target. For me this is one of the hardest to hit power in the game but the payoff is huge. The slow leaves your opponent as a sitting duck for whatever attacks you wish to hit them with including something like Caustic Cloud. Mastery of this power can make skulken a true nightmare to deal with.

And that covers all of skulkens moves so let's move on to more general tips for skulken.
Skulken is very slow and so it can be hard to get away from melee attackers so this is where teleport and Caustic Cloud can really help you. When you see someone trying to close in on you then you can either teleport away or throw a caustic cloud at your feet and stand in or around it while throwing attacks at your opponent remaining just out of reach.

In Ranged Combat Skulken fairs much better, if you keep your range and have a good aim you can wear your opponent down with just your basic attacks so long as you are clever with your dodging. Whatever you do don’t run at your opponent with caustic cloud at the ready or they will likely see it coming and get away, instead try and back them into a corner with your other attacks while slowly moving closer and then hitting them with caustic cloud when they least expect it.

Now I wanted to cover skulkens best and worst matchups.

I think the best counter to skulken at the moment is a well played embear, Embear as more options at range and up close making it very hard for skulken to punish him and embear can fairly easily punish skulken, this leaves you in a place where you have to play skulken very well to deal with a good embear player.

On the flip side skulken is very good vs slow moving opponents such as mechid and to a lesser extent shovlet. With these slower moving kinfolk you can more easily hit them with wither or caustic cloud and hitting mechid with caustic cloud puts him on a timer which he can’t really afford.

But that's about all I could think of for today! Please let me know if you have any questions or tips of your own in the comments below! Until next time this is bloba singing off I hope you all have a wonderful day, Goodbye and Godbless.
