getting your sourceport
i personally reccomend using the voidsw sourceport, since its being developed by the eduke32 team, and is rather straightforward to use.

head over to the eduke32 website[www.eduke32.com], and download the version that fits your system the best.
setting up the sourceport
go into your shadow warrior directory. (if you dont know where yours is, right click the game in steam, go to local files, then browse local files)

you should see two folders, a bin folder and a gameroot folder. the gameroot folder contains all of the game data, and the bin folder should contain dosbox as set up when you downloaded the game. go into the bin folder, and delete every file in it. then copy all of the files from your sourceport into the folder and rename the exe file that launches the port "dosbox.exe" (without quotes). if youre using voidsw, your bin folder should now look like this:

youre done!
now if you launch the game in steam, it should launch your sourceport and track your time in game! if something doesnt work, just reply to this guide with what sourceport youre using and links to screenshots of what happens when you launch it. have fun!

I found a way to make it work for anyone else who has trouble. The part that people don't mention when renaming GDX to DOSBox is that the other DOSBox files cause Steam to try to redownload or find the original DOSBox file. Delete the DOSBox con file and any other DOSBox related file. It should then launch GDX through the DOSBox, therefore letting you launch GDX through Steam.

Thank you for the guide. This worked with BuildGDX, and, as you said, probably will work with any other sourceport.

did you rename the executable? im assuming youre getting an error from steam that says it couldnt find the launch exe

make sure you rename your sourceports executable to dosbox.exe

then again it might now work nowadays i havent played this version in a while and i also now run linux full time so i have other methods
