Downloading and extracting
You will basically need 2 files that you have to download:

After downloading both, extract them with WinRar (or any other programm) into separate folders on your desktop.
Replacing files
Now, all you have to do is go to your game directory: \Steam\steamapps\common\grid 2\frontend\bundles
Then, open the folder with "Solid Carbon HUD MOD" that you extracted onto your desktop and copy the file "b_osdDirt3.pssg". Now you need to paste it into the bundles folder and replace the old file with the new one.

I also recommend to make a backup of the "b_osdDirt3.pssg" file just in case something goes wrong.

It's done you will have a new custom HUD in your G2.

This MOD has been created by BreakAlien.
Editing the hud as you like!
If you would like to make your hud look entirely different or slightly better you can also do it by yourself. However the final effect will strongly be based on your graphics skills. I am only showing the way to get it done (programms usage and method.) You can actually change all HUD as you want, you can experiment and test the look you your HUD.

Lets keep going then!

  1. Open Ryder PSSG Editor
  2. Click FILE-> Open

  3. Choose the "Solid Carbon HUD MOD" folder and open the "b_osdDirt3.pssg" OR open the original "b_osdDirt3.pssg" file.
  4. Now we should only focus on the "Textures" bookmark. As you can see there are many positions. Each represent different pieces of your Hud.

  5. Let's now go to the bottom of that list. For example: if you would like to edit the background of your speedometer you are going to click on rev_bg_dial, if you would like to edit your minimap background click on minimap_bg. Other files imply other parts of your HUD. Basically you can change any other part as you like but keep in mind to save the appropriate size (resolution) not to destroy the look of your game. I am now going to focus on the main speedometer.
  6. Select rev_bg_dial and then press the "export" at the bottom and save the file on your desktop.

  7. Go to Photopea[www.photopea.com] (Photopea is free online Graphic editing programme).
  8. Export the rev_bg_dial file onto the website.
  9. Now this is the part where you have to edit it on your own. Use the tools on the website to cut and move parts of your pictures. You can import more graphic png. files to upgrade the look of your HUD.
  10. After you are done editing, simply click on "File"-> "Export as"-> "more"-> "DDS extension".
  11. Get back into the PSSG Editor and press "import" choose your newly edited file and import it.
  12. Save the whole file in PSSG editor without changing the name or file extension.
  13. Now copy the file back into the steam directory folder as shown in the first steps of this guide.

And it's done! Remeber not to change file extensions and if anything goes wrong you can always verify integrity of game files.

Also, you can edit your HUD starting from the original game HUD. HF!

Here I will be posting (when I have free time) different propositions of Speedometer HUD's/minimap Backgrounds for anybody interested in such game detailing, so you can test it without issuing yourself with self editing in graphic programms.
