Resident Evil 5 on Steam Install
UPDATE:
Hidden Official Way:

1) Install and start Resident Evil 5. An Error occur of gfwl (Games for Windows Live)

2) Close the Installer

3) Press WindowsKey + R an paste this in the command window and press Enter:

%localappdata%\Microsoft\GFWLive\Downloads

4) Doubleclick „gfwlivesetup.exe“ (dont close the Installer even it fails)
The Installer starts and creates 2 more Files in the same Directory. Open „xliveredist.msi“ and install and finish setup. If you close „gfwlivesetup.exe“, then it removes the 2 additional files.

5) After installing „xliveredist.msi“ close „gfwlivesetup.exe“.

6) Start Resident Evil 5 and have Fun.

Old Version below but it works:
English:

1.) Install Resident Evil 5
2.) Start Resident Evil 5 for the first time
3.) Windows Live Installer starts and stops
4.) Quit Games for Windows Live Installer
5.) Go on https://de.dll-files.com/xlive.dll.html and scroll down and download the xlive.zip

6.) Extract the Xlive.dll from the downloaded Zip file into the Root directory of Resident Evil 5 where you can find the re5dx9.exe (with winrar, 7zip or something else)
7.) Start Resident Evil 5 again and have fun 😊
8.) If Resident Evil 5 doesn`t start, so reboot your computer. This may help in most cases. 😊
(if you install Resident Evil 5 for the first time on your machine, so it maybe doesn`t start the game without a reboot of your Coumputer)

If this Guide did help you, so pls let me know this. You can also write a comment, if you have questions.

German:

1.) Resident Evil 5 bei Steam herunterladen und installieren
2.) Resident Evil 5 einmalig starten
3.) Der Games for Windows Live Installer wird versuchen sich zu installieren und dabei scheitern
4.) Games for Windows Live Installer beenden

Thank you for this! Kept all of the instructions right inside Steam. Didn't even need to Google it. You rock!!

@Andreios: Could be just a fluke, I don't know yet if I may need to keep uninstalling and reinstalling, or what... but today (being the 5th day) it actually started up just fine with no problems surprisingly... though again, could just been lucky today, as so far up to this point it felt like it wants to work when it wants to work (don't know, but here's hoping that the game is done acting up on me now... though I'll get back to you on that once I can be more certain).

@Mysterious Avenger: In most cases i used the single File Method (only extract xlive.dll). It worked always fine for me. But i forgot to say, after Install, a reboot of the Laptop/PC is recommended. After installing and rebooting it should be work. Hmm Laptophardware is dfiffrent to normal Desktop components like Graphic Cards, RAMs, Board Driver. Maybe some of these could be the trigger. But i am not sure.

Do you have always to install and uninstall the game to play, or does it always run now?

@Andreios: hmm, I could be wrong, but I think I might be on to something here.. since I wasn't able to get it to work on the second day, I uninstalled it... but then the third day I reinstalled it and it worked (but it isn't quite as simple as uninstalling and reinstalling, cause I tried that on the second day and it still didn't work ... but yet it seems if I uninstall, restart/reboot my Laptop "and then" reinstall after rebooting, that seems to work... but I don't know yet).

@andreious: Oh and btw, my laptop is fairly new (I got it around last Christmas), it's a Gaming Laptop (True Gaming, msi brand, Nvidia Geforce GTX) with Windows 10 platform, should be well suited and compatible with pretty much any game that Steam has to dish out (as long as my laptop has the memory capacity to install; it has a little over 200 GB at best).

@Andreios: crap, it's behaving like it did on the second day again, ugh.
Mysterious Avenger 3 Nov, 2022 @ 1:11pm
@Andreios: I went with the first option ( Hidden Official Way ), which made the game work the first day, but then the second day the screen would load up and briefly show the games Title Screen for a split sec before closing (like it would still be down in the tabs below, but clicking on it wouldn't make the screen stay open. also no sound at that time, but probably cause the window screen wouldn't be open).

the weird thing is that on the third day, I decided to try and run it again for the heck of it, and just to be curious (just in case for whatever reason that it may have been a fluke or something, as to why it didn't want to work on the second day)... and strangely it worked on the third day, hmm.

well this is day 4 now, I just got out of work and I'm about to see if it works today or if it turns out to be another day like the second day (I'll get back to you on this, though do feel free to go ahead and respond back if you want).

@Mysterious Avenger: Hello, which way did you use? Only xlive.dll way or the gfwl way with the setups? Did you update your graphic card Driver? I heard your Problem the first time. Maybe a reinstall of zhe game could work. Do you use 2 Screens or hear the game sounds? Greets
