Plants + Food Recipes = Farmer's Journal
(Updated for Vanilla v1.3.3)

Explanation
The plants and food table are the raw formulas given by Empyrion in-game recipes. The Farmer's Journal is my own algorithm designed to minimize the plants down to the minimum common denominator to use up every ingredient harvested in a single harvest.

Meaning the plant counts can be reduced if you plan to harvest plants intermittently and multiple times instead of all at once. The Journal plant count is set up assuming you only harvest one time to get the output. Thus if any pumpkins are in the recipe... it assumes you only harvest once every 145 minutes.

Additional Tips
1) There are additional ways you may desire to optimize your farm from the Journal. For instance, in every recipe vegetable plants were used instead of plant protein to simplify the number of different plants needed.

2) Balancing the plants to be closest to the same time (goal of 90 mins for example) was not taken into account. Something I would highly recommend when setting up your garden for multiple food items.

3) It would be wise to condense the vegetables when combining multiple food recipes. Replacing four Large Eggplants for a single Tomato plant for instance.

4) Word of caution, some plants require mushrooms nearby in order to grow. So if any plants are having difficulty growing, get close and look at them to find out why.

Nice write-up and info. Would you be interested in working up a similar write-up for Reforged Eden as it is a super popular mod and the recipes are changed a bit. Most of your basic info would still be right, I think.

@Derek54u ...I ran the calcs and yes, looks Like I was originally just 3 vegetables short on original emergency ration formula in the journal. I have updated the rations to output 4 to better calculate the plants needed. Please feel free to let me know if I did the math incorrect on my update or any other formulas. Good catch! ;)

Wonderful guide, just what I wanted. One small detail to add: the entry for emergency rations does assume you have meat available; if you don't, you'll have to craft it from plant protein and vegetables.
