A Breeder's quick guide to racial stats *updated Oct 2023*
By SilentSev
This is a simple guide depicting all the monsters's respective stat ranges in one easy to access table instead of running around, fidgeting with the breeding screen, or memorizing. This is primarily for min/maxing your monsters stats.

Breeding for stats
updated Oct 2023

So the game revolves around your menagerie of monstrous, dungeon-running, farmhands working your farm and clearing story / dungeon content. Part of that is breeding monsters for Traits. Traits come in more than one type: Stat, Species, blood-line, and universal. I'm counting stats as a trait because you can get rusted stat traits. For the list of species, bloodline, and universal traits there are guides around the web that contain those and I don't want to steal someone else's work. This guide goes more into the stat traits,at first then moves into some details for the other traits.

To raise the stats of a monster they must eat and be leveled. If you fill up the food bin on the farm they all slowly eat and gain stats according to the food given. If you don't feed your lovely monsters they get upset and may end up leaving. See the "Dev's guide" for more details on that. As per the previous iteration of this guide if you feed monsters in a dungeon they do not get the stat increase. Food is acquired from farming, buying from weekend markets, holiday events, dungeon fights, dungeon crops, and Dungeons vendors / quest givers. The best current vendor is on floor 7 and the repeat quest giver is on floor 8.

* BST, for those who don't know, stands for Base Stat Total. This is purely from a base kit standpoint ie the creature has no additional traits and only has the generic bloodline traits.

Quick notes
- Chimera has been excluded as they have no value unique to them. They start with random stats from other creatures.
- Worthy note for new breeders, Crab and Chimera are both gender-less and can breed with any gender.

Top picks for stats
This section is going to contain the top 3 per stat section. In the bottom it will also contain the tier list based on BSTs.

"What does this all mean" you may be asking yourself. Well let me tell you. If you're the person who would rather focus on dungeon delving and farming over the breeding aspect of the game... Stick to dragons, they are the jack of all trades now. While they may be out shined in each stat independently the dragon will outclass a non min/max'd monster. The crab is just under the dragon in terms of BST; One can argue the crab is actually the true jack of all trades due to its BST and because the crab has the capability to breed with all similar to the chimera.
A Breeders guide to cheesing colors, genders, and some traits.
October 2023 update: after a break from the game and doing more testing some key notes on how the stats are chosen have changed and I will be editing the details below.

Oh boy do I have plenty to cover here! I began saving my game before each hatch to see what happens and how to affect my odds for particular traits. aka save scumming. Through quite a bit of experimentation I found a way to help you get the monster of your desires. Its quite a bit to go through and difficult for me to explain with or without pictures. I will do my best here to explain this process, and should you all, the players, still want pictures let me know and I'll do what I can.

  • First off, the probability of getting *normal* stat traits seems to be directly linked to the moment of breeding, where as all other Stats are based on time of hatching. This applies to rust mark traits as well.
  • Second, the probability of acquiring any trait, color, and gender seem to be linked to the time of day in-game. meaning if you hatch an egg at 8:53 am the probability can be a little varied at 8:54 am and 8:55 am, where as large time changes like 10:12 am has more of an effect, I haven't gotten the exact time change to probability down just yet.
  • Third, everything in part two is also effected by where you go or any quick load screens you may have. my example using the hatchery building: if you step out and go back inside it changes the probability.
  • The chosen stat trait, and this may just be my luck, was always the strongest stat between the parents. In my attempts to min/max i bred a cat (with the previous top int, stam, and swft traits but not necessarily the highest numerically) with a dragon I had for quite some time (whose stats were independently better in every slot despite the stat trait not being the better) all 15 babies from that pair had the dragons stat traits.
  • If your desire to min/max is as strong as mine, you will want to save before each breeding and each hatch.

The short version is above lets move on to the long detailed version.

Through my attempts I noticed that if i kept reloading and hatching as quickly as possible I would very likely get the same gender and color combinations. If I did this 20 times lets say I would get [male color 1] at 50% [male color 2] 35% [female color 1] 15% and [female color 2] 0%. Where as if I reloaded, stepped out the hatchery, and came back in doing this another 20 times my odds were closer to [male color 1] 10% [male color 2] 20% [female color 1] 30% and [female color 2] 40%. For those being curious I was going for harpy female with cat color. This method worked again for each creature & color combo I wanted. Cat with dragon color, wolf with demon color, holstaur with centaur color, so on and so forth.

For the traits I noticed a few things while going for my desired colors. As above most stat traits are unaffected by hatch time. Thus meaning they are determined at time of breeding. The exception is rusted stat traits. Stat traits are determined at hatch and rust traits can be bypassed by reloading. Based on how the traits are randomized they behave similar to the colors are listed above with a percentage given to certain combinations of stats. Through save scumming we can get what we want ie best stats. Other players have documented this as well and with more visuals

The species traits are still species traits, and are stuck to that species. While you can min/max any creature you want for specific stats. Some creatures will be better at min/max'ing because of their species traits. most species only traits are non stat boosting. The only one I can find currently is the dragon's trait "Pure Blood" giving the dragon +25 to every stat. That being said dragons are your top min/max if you want to put in the work to have the best possible monster.

The bloodline traits and universal traits are affected by reloading. obviously if you have a parent with any of these traits you have a chance to getting the upgraded version, and a good chance to get the trait in general. Reloading is a good way to try getting better traits, now it does seem to have the probability affected by the time and quick loads just the same as the gender & color. so if you don't get what you want through quick loading and quickly re-hatching, either step away and force a quick load (ie go across the bridge and back or step out of the hatchery and step back in).

Quick notes
This is a great way to get good traits on holstaurs with high domestication. Work Holstaur and another creature to get the multiple harvests and multiple byproducts per harvest and can keep the rusted traits off. Holstaur gets "Beast of burden" trait for additional harvests, and the other trait you want is "Abundant body" which is a universal trait. I personally find that trait on chimera more often than others.
This is also helpful to quickly turn around and sell monsters you don't need. Say you don't get the stat traits you want, do this a few times to get some good bloodline or universal traits, and that increases the monsters value by a bit. Turn around and make a bit more profit.

p.s. still would love to see bat npc or farmhand.
AS OF 20 OCT 2023 I HAVE FOUND THE BAT ARTWORK I WANTED TO SEE. I felt this was a momentous occasion and wanted to share my joy and excitement! Project Lead Spurple has cloud meadow bat designs made and they were done before I requested bat stuff. My day has been made.

@Turniper I stand corrected on the pink color, it was someone else who spoke to the team. The answer is in my comments section.
SilentSev  [author] 8 Sep, 2023 @ 2:05pm
@Dante for clarity when you say " level 5 pure blood dragon" you mean a dragon with the pure blood trait? or a simple pure blooded dragon @ level 5?

@Turniper, no clue how long you have been waiting for a reply from me... the mysterious pink color is tied to an event in-game. I got this from talking to one of the devs. if i recall correctly its one of the seasonal events, but I could be wrong if anyone else reading this wants to correct me.

Also, u have to train the ideal dragon farmer that you wish to use on a field prior to deploying it(for max stats). For that, just breed one regular level 5 pure blood dragon with any stats and take it with you when you do dungeons. Personally, I only do the high exp enemies at the right side of dungeon 8's map every week with food that boosts exp.

I would like to add something here. For creating the best farmer with max stats. you need Lamia's Intuition, Demon's physique, Cyclops stamina and Harpy's Switftness on a level 5 pure blood dragon with bountiful yield(lvl 5) and life maker(lvl). It is preferrable that the best farmer should have the gender opposite of your character and should not be from your close lineage so you can mass breed more farmers with low saturation from it. You can reduce the saturation by using items during breeding.
An ideal milk machine would be a holstaur with level 5 beast of burden(race trait), level 5 quickshot and level 5 abundant body. It should not be from your lineage like mentioned for the dragons. Mass production would work in the same way as mentioned before.
Save your game before hatching every egg. Hatch the egg. If you get what you want, good. Else, keep reloading the game and hatching the same egg until you get what you want.

Thank you very much. How can I get the monster with pink skin?
SilentSev  [author] 5 Jul, 2023 @ 6:42pm
@McCoy As of the current state, if i'm reading it right and not confused with the upcoming update, the current stats are split. You can only 50% your monsters if you purely keep them on the farm.

@Turniper to my understanding if you treat your monsters well, ie keeping them at max stars for happiness, then they shouldn't leave, but you also have to be there for their graduation to have the option or they just leave. when its their "graduation date" this is done in town.

What should I do if I don't want monsters to graduate?:steamsad:

Is better combat or farm stats for my monsters ?
SilentSev  [author] 9 Sep, 2022 @ 5:59pm
@hey its gonne be ok. so the 3 main methods are make them run away, have them graduate from time served, or talk to the guild in town and you can have them "graduate early" its more like a "trade-in" where the guild pays you for their skills and experience.
hey its gonna be ok 8 Sep, 2022 @ 7:52pm
does anybody know how to get rid of monsters? can you only make them run away or graduate?
