Description

The idea of this project was to make one mappack as a group like it was done by some mapping groups while Serious Sam 1 was popular in 2001-2005 era. It was also organized so we can take a break from our bigger projects in a way that we make a smaller project with only vanilla assets. All maps are between 15 and 60 minutes and are randomly put into order that form 1 continuity. Plot and weapons aren't carried over from one map to another and author of each map decides with what weapons you start the map. Maps being in 1 continuity means that you can play all those maps without being brought back to main menu after each map. All maps are unlocked in level selection menu so you can choose to play any map that you want at any time. There are 9 maps in this mappack that have around 4-5 hours of playtime in total. Enjoy!

All maps are made from scratch between 13th June and 10th October with vanilla assets only while following rules that can be read in Mapping Event rules.txt which is included with this file.

Mapping Event Rules

The idea of this project is to make one mappack as a group like it was done by some mapping groups while Serious Sam 1 was popular in 2001-2005 era. All information about the project can be read here:
Serious Sam Classics Mappers Collective Mappack:
- Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (v1.07)
- 15 mappers max
- each mapper makes 1 or 2 maps
- each map should be 15-60 minutes long and have singleplayer and coop support
- maps aren't connected in any way (weapons from previous map aren't carried over unless the map has the same weapon on start, there is no story that ranges from first to last map in mappack), each map can be with any TSE theme, mapper can choose any TSE theme - 1 theme per 1 map
- vanilla TSE assets only - no custom textures (heightmap, shadowmap etc. for terrain is allowed), no custom enemy and weapon models, no custom assets (like new statue models etc.), no new sounds or music
- mapper chooses if map will be easier/calmer or harder/intense and if the map is going to have boss fight or not (same boss can be used by multiple mappers!), mapper also chooses with what weapons you start the map with
- on the beginning of each map there is text fx holder entity with text "Made by <map author>" that will last for 5 seconds (Laki will add that to each map if the map lacks that entity in the beginning of the map as well as remove all weapons that you would get from previous map from other mapper because mappack is 1 continuity from first to last map, nothing else in the map is going to be touched!)
- maps from all mappers will be put in random order in mappack and will form 1 continuity from first to last map

Dude these maps are so good it makes me want to start mapping myself. It was like I was playing a long forgotten, official SS expansion.

Yeah sadly Hollowed Courtyards isn't working properly as the author intended in SS:R. The issue came at the porting and if you play in SS:TSE you wouldn't encounter this bug. It would be need rework the whole death fields in editor to fix the issues but sadly I don't have time for that and that's why I recommand playing the pack in SS:TSE

Try running DirectX instead of Direct3D in TSE if you have FPS drops!

Okay! Just completed the mappack. Like the visuals, fights etc. But I encountered FPS drops in some maps, dropping from 80 to 50. Was still smooth though. Revolution works on my PC without any FPS drops. It could be my problem though, might be smooth on few PCs. But drops could be noticed. Didn't encounter FPS drops in 'The Bane of the Gods' map. Was buttery smooth. Nice job, Rakanishu! The least favorite map I found was 'Hollowed Courtyards'. In the starting, when we enter the door, we die instantly, don't know how, but it is frustating. Tried it more than a couple of times, but same result. Anyways, great mappack, Recommended!

Tested on Serious (and made some videos for my channel) and it's very good. Best maps are City of Tabriz, Yards of Marutuk and Johnny. Hollowed Courtyard would be my favorite if it weren't for the gravity-part-continuous-dying issue, hope it get fixed soon. Thanks for posting
