Do a little research: There are many different types of cats out there. Some with very shy personalities and others that rule their domain with the swipe of a paw. Don't restrict your self to domesticated cats; lions, tigers, and cheetahs are cats too.

Pick a cat that best fits your inner cat: If you're not sure about your cat personality, think about your human personality. Are you silly and playful? Quiet and pensive? Outspoken and feared? Examining your human personality will help you figure out, or at least give you a starting point for, your cat personality.

Once you've figure out the cat you are, you must get the vocals just right! Practice makes perfect. Some of my favorite MEOW variations are: Maaaaaoooww; ME-OW; ooooowwwww, maow maow maow, mawi maow, meeeee-OW. Don't forget to "purr" and screech, this let's the humans know to keep on petting or stay away! Cats are temperamental like that.

To get into character it helps to have some cat ears on head. You usually find them in large discount stores, thrift stores, specialty stores that sell fetish attire, or you can make them yourself. All your need are: Two pieces of felt in different colors, a head band, scissors and a hot glue gun. Cut the felt into triangles, one smaller than the other. Glue the two pieces together, with the smaller piece in the middle of the larger one. Then glue the felt, pointed side up to the head band; and VIOLA, you've got homemade kitty ears! Or you could use furry fabric for extra furry ears!
