Hey, noticed that there is hardly guides available to players so i'm making my own as i go.

Starting
"ESC" brings up "Command menu"

hold "Ctrl" to allow "mouse use"
press "i" to pause as well as check/equip inventory
Flying and Ship interaction
Flying
"W" thrust
"A,S,D" side thrust (helpful with one-on-one dogfights)
"shift" boost . engines burn faster and hotter to produce more speed . warning as engines may over-heat and burnout(preventing further boosting until cooled)
"Q" and "E" to fly left and right (no barrel roll)
<< Cruise >> no idea, says that it locks thrusters on

Stations/Docking with ships
select target (TAB) once selected (locked on?) ingage (enter)
You can "capture ship design" by docking with a disabled ship and selecting "".
Payloads Toys Weapons Ships
Payloads :
Items that are usible directly for inventory. Simply throw into toolbar and use as needed.
Most have charges which limit usage however there are some which just have a cooldown.

Must haves include
> Tactical Holo Beacon : spawns x2 decoys
> Advanced Holo Beacon : spawns x4 decoys (lvl 35) (250k TradeCredits)
> Anti-Rocket Flares : auto-spawns "flare" (decoy item) (re-usible)

Toys :
"Joke" Payloads
> Party Station (spawn and dock with for Station Benefits)(sick beats)
> Magical Friendship Laser (70k from Anchorage)

Weapon type :
Pulse : Energy Wave
Ballistic : Bullets (Freerunner)
Rocket : Self guided as well as heat seeking rockets
Mine : Stationary and Homing
Rail : Mag-Ballistic type rounds
Beam : Beamed Energy Weapons
Singularity : Grav-weapon type (Xenoid)
Spreader : Flak based weapons (Spray and Pray)
Drones : automated fighters. (see Drones )

Ammo type/effect :
Kinetic : Impact
Thermal : Heat/Direct damage. Causes interal fire damage
Electro-magnetic : anti-shield
Nuclear : High impact or Cloud poison damage over time
Strange : Health steal damage

Modifier :
Juiced (Energy and Beam) x2 ammo and fire rate
Thermal (all ammo types) ignores shields
Emergency (all ammo types) ammo regen 10%
Dirty (Nuclear) radioactive damage over time. Loot pirates to find.
Electro (energy) drains the target's shield
Kinetic (projectiles) hull damage over time
Strange (projectiles) drains health from target to own ship. very strange

Tips and Hints

Completing missions with maxed inventory means that you only recieve the credits and you can turn in the mission as may times as you wish with out completing the actual mission.

If your docked with a disabled ship and disable ship is destroyed you take damage.
If you're looting as disabled ship is destroyed loot is lost
If disabled ship becomes active your ship may become disabled.

You can scan as well as mine while stealthed, However you may not collect loot while stealthed.
Pirates collect loot mid-battle. You then have to board them for the stolen loot if your after items.

Flying through a "loot cloud" does not collect loot, However loot may trigger guided rockets/mines to explode as if they were a ship/target.

M for Map
J for Jump
Always plan for a quick exit if it gets nasty.
Helpful Sectors :
Tombstone wastes. Freerunner controlled so there are a few Gunship floating around. simply arrive and float around till the pirates appear so a massive battle, the key object is to fly around and grab as much loot as possible and to dock with disabled ship quickly.

Tranquility 009

Anchorage . Freerunner controlled station.
> Daughter ship mini-boss
> Protium Farm

Deckswab . AKA Thunder and Lightning

Celemente's Stronghold :
> purchases goods/loot at a raised price

Mortality : Pipebelly Aberration . Xenoid controlled with Pirates / Fanatics / Enforcers
> massive multi faction battles.

Hellwater's Wake . netural sector
> mining exp with Planetary Fragments and Space Loot
> Flee if you notice "a microfission hole materializes nearby..." message (Xenoids)

Rumbottle : Pirate Outpost 1232 . repeatible kill pirate station quest.

Persetence : Dirge . End point for the "Escape from Hell Quest"
> Pirates / Xeno / Guardain / Fanatics / Enforcer wide battles

Why can't I equip, for example, a pulse weapon when I have over the required level and it's the same tech as the ship? I don't get it...

@Friday : Thanks for the info! I'll probably use this playthrough to re-learn the game and restart again when that awesome (free!) expansion is released.
