This is a (WIP) guide for new and intermediate hunters exploring the Guiding Lands in search for materials for weapon augments. It aims to provide a comprehensive and easy-to-use dataset to facilitate exploration and crafting from Steam overlay.

General information (important)

The Guiding Lands is a large area filled with a vast number of materials and monsters that drop unique items necessary for end-game weapon augments (R10-R12). Essentially, a final destination hunters strive to reach for high-power materials and liberty of hunts. It offers a brand new experience in MHWI since the combat and rewards work differently.

1. Items you can find

The new items available are of two kinds:

items you collect from the areas
items you fight the monsters for.

There are guides for crystals (ores) and bones to collect, so I'll only touch on that lightly. Basically, each of the 6 areas has 4 ore and 4 bone types. All of those 48 items are required if you want to have unbridled access to all augments. I suggest picking as many as you can.

As for monster unique items there are 4 types:

generic non-tempered
generic tempered
monster-specific non-tempered
monster-specific tempered (not all monsters have both).

The major problem is that there are so many materials that it will take quite some time before you learn what monster to hunt in order to get what you need. This guide might help you before becoming proficient at this.

2. Arrangement

Eventually, the guide will be split into sections that allow easy navigation across the criteria such as:
- I know the augment I want, what materials do I need?
- There is a monster on the map, what will it get me?
- Alphabetical order of materials
- Custom mods (not all weapons can have it).

3. Legend

Throughout the text you will find some abbreviations I had to use to save space and clarity (?) of presentation. Some abbreviations are obvious, usually for monster names (like Anja for Anjanath, Narga, RuinNerg, etc.) so I did not provide them here. I expect the hunters to have some familiarity with the game, so I can focus on the materials and search.

F - Forest area
W - Wildspire Waste area
C - Coral area
R - Rotten Vale area
V - Volcanic area
T - Tundra area
ED - Elder Dragon
ex - except/excluding
TM - tempered (before monster names)
1-7 - area levels
N1-N3 - non-tempered generic drops (Threat Levels - you should know them by now, this means that any monster from the given N tier has a chance to drop the item)
T1-T3 - tempered generic drops (same as above, for tempereds).

Combinations of the above are possible.

Some examples:
1. "Flickering flamepelt x9, Anja, F 1-4, W 2-4" means "item name times quantity required from Anjanath that appears in Forest area level 1 to 4, and Wildspire area level 2 to 4".
2. "Tempered jaw x7, TM Tigrex, All 6-7 (ex C)" means "item name times quantity needed from tempered Tigrex that appears in all biomes, area levels 6 to 7, except for Coral (does not appear in Coral ever)".

The above monsters may appear in other biomes/levels but not in a way to provide the Item Name sought.

4. Quick tips

Always farm the GL with Geologist lvl 1 (at least) and Part breaker skill 3, preferably with a team or a partner. This will dramatically increase the drop rate. Please consult other guides for efficient item collection/gathering and area leveling.
If you level Coral and Volcanic areas to 7, you will have acccess to all Tempered Elders.
Use your Palico's Plunderblade to increase drops further.
Some monsters don't appear in the GL at all: Jyuratodus, Bazelgeuse, Deviljho, Nergigante, Vaal Hazak, Beotodus, Frost Fang Barioth, Furious Rajang, Raging Brachydios (only in quest) or fixed size Elders.
