Plane Axe
Once equipped, the plane axe may be swung with the left mouse button. Like other axes and melee weapons, the plane axe can be used to block by holding the right mouse button. It can also be used to attack enemies and can stun them for a moment.

It will take approximately 4-6 hits to kill a starving cannibal and approximately 8-12 hits to kill the stronger and more developed cannibals. In the early game it helps to make a wrapped plane axe and light it when fighting cannibals due to the damage boost it gets when burning.

The plane axe can also be used on large trees to get logs and tree sap, small trees to get sticks and leaves, bushes and ferns to get leaves, locked suitcases to open them, and animals to kill them. It can also be used to break cannibal effigies to get their building components. Chopping down a tree will take exactly 17 hits.

The plane axe can also dismember a corpse of a cannibal by chopping downward with the left mouse button over the different sections of the body. Furthermore, it is used by the player to skin animals after killing them, it is also used to skin creepy mutants for armor. This, however, is an automatic action, the axe is used to skin even when another item is wielded, and the plane axe does not need to be equipped beforehand for the skinning to work, nor does it need to be in your inventory. However, as of update V0.72, the plane axe cannot be placed anywhere, such as on a weapon rack, and will always stay in the player's inventory.

As with most axes, the plane axe can be combined with cloth, letting it be lit with the lighter (default L) for burning damage, or upgraded using tree sap with feathers, teeth, or booze, adding permanent weapon bonuses each time.
Crafted Axe
Like the Rusty Axe, the crafted axe will chop down trees in 13 hits (9 for the Modern Axe & 17 for the Plane Axe). It can also be used to chop limbs off dead corpses.

It can also be upgraded, and combined with cloth then lit when needed to inflict fire damage.

The crafted axe is the slowest of all axes, as well as one of the slowest weapons in the game in terms of speed. However, as the required items are very common, it can be useful to craft this weapon very early in the game. It deals more damage than the Plane Axe, has more knockdown power and a farther reach. It also has a high block level, same as the Modern Axe and the Crafted Club.

Occasionally, cannibals can be seen equipped with a crafted axe and using it in combat. After killing such an armed cannibal, the axe can be collected.

At the start of the game near the plane crash site, there are suitcases containing cloth. Obtain as much as possible, as it can be used to make rope for the axe itself.
Rusty Axe
This axe is slower and deals less damage than the modern axe, but has higher knockdown power and the highest block level for a weapon, similar to the club and the turtle shell. This can be used to prevent all damage from cannibals and mutants when blocking. The rusty axe, like the crafted axe, will chop down a tree in 13 hits (9 for the modern axe, 17 for the plane axe). It can also be upgraded and combined with cloth to add extra burning damage. Like all other axes and the katana, it can be used to dismember dead corpses.
Modern Axe
The modern axe has a carbon steel head with a fiberglass shaft. It is the best available real axe for tree cutting in the game.

When used as a weapon, it deals five bars of damage. The modern axe swings slower than the plane axe, but knocks down cannibals more often than its weaker counterparts. Possessing nine bars of block, equivalent to the crafted axe and Crafted Club, it blocks almost all damage. The rusty axe, turtle shell, and club will block 100% of damage however.

The modern axe uses 7.9 points of stamina per swing and 23 points for a power attack. It is capable (with upgrades) of doing more than 3x more damage than the katana. The modern axe is often regarded to be the best weapon in the game.
Climbing Axe
It can be used to climb various rocky cliffs on the peninsula and specific walls in the caves. As a weapon, the climbing axe deals less damage than the plane axe, but swings fast like the Katana. It can be a useful weapon against fast and weak enemies, like starving cannibals. However, it cannot be upgraded. It can be used to chop limbs on cannibals corpses, but cannot be used to chop down trees.

The climbing axe allows the player to climb walls, provided they are at a climbable wall. Climbable walls generally look flat and have a different color to the other cave walls. As well as that, they usually have bits of rope attached to the wall, which also act as a guide for climbing, showing where to detach from the wall. When prompted, attach onto a wall by pressing your use button (E by default). You can't use it to climb rocks, walls, and mountains in the snow biome at the northern side of the Peninsula, this is probably to prevent the player from accessing areas not meant to be gone through, especially the parts of the Sahara Laboratory during early game. You also can't use it to go down the Sinkhole directly from the the forest floor, the same reason goes as it prevents the player from accessing the end game area during early game. Be careful though, if you fall into the Sinkhole, You CANNOT get out with the climbing axe!
Machete
Like the Plane axe, the machete will chop down trees in 17 hits (9 for the modern axe, 13 for the crafted axe and the rusty axe). It can also dismember dead bodies.

The machete can cut stick trees, bushes, shrubs in one hit. This allows for fast stick gathering though greatly diminishes the amount of leaves you will harvest.

The machete has very short range. Almost all other melee weapons in the game have longer range than the machete. Even Bones and Turtle Shells have longer range. Longer range will allow you to create more distance between enemies and allow you to hit more enemies at the same time.

Despite it says the block power is '0' the machete does block attacks, equivalent to the katana

The machete can be upgraded.

The machete cannot receive fire upgrades.
Katana
The Katana is a very fast swinging melee weapon. Its speed allows the player to continuously swinging at a target, preventing the enemy from retaliating. However, the katana has limited damage compared to other weapons. The tennis racket, for example, also deals relatively low damage, but can upgraded to do more damage and uses less stamina than the katana (though it is slower).

Despite the weapon information stating the block power is '0', the katana does block attacks, though the blocking capabilities are one of the worst of any weapon in the game (just as bad as that of the machete). The katana also cannot receive permanent upgrades, though it may be modified with temporary poison upgrades.

One other potential issue with the katana is that it swings are so fast that players may adapt to that attack speed. This can "handicap" players in the long run, as slower, harder-hitting weapons such as the modern axe and crafted club can be difficult to adjust to. Some players benefit by practicing the timing of their weapon swings; the katana's swift striking abilities do not facilitate the development of swing-timing skills, however, potentially requiring more practice with other weapons at later points in the game.

The katana uses 7 stamina per swing, which is very high considering its damage capabilities (the modern axe uses 7.8 points of stamina though can do more than 3x the damage). The katana is best used in normal mode. In harder modes, the damage is so low that the player can run out of stamina from attacking just one cannibal. The item code for a katana (cheat code) is 38 (unsure I haven't tested yet) {maybe is 180}
Weak Spear & Upgraded Spear
Weak Spear

All spears have three modes for combat:

Standard attack - Where you attack in front of you. Aim the spear in front of you, not too high or too low. This uses 10 stamina per attack.
Stab ground attack - Where you stab the ground. Aim the spear downwards to enter this mode. This doesn't use any stamina what so ever, so it is great for opening suit cases, finishing off cannibals on the ground, or destroying tree stumps. The spear can get stuck in this mode. To fix it, move the mouse up and down and it should correct itself.
Thrown attack - Where you throw the spear. Hold down right click to enter this mode, letting go of right click will leave this mode. Hold down right click and then press left click to throw the spear. For an accurate, but short distance throw, aim at your target so that the index finger is right below them.Throwing spears of any kind uses 22 stamina.
The spear can be thrown, and can also be used in a thrusting fashion in all directions. It is a useful alternative to the crafted bow or modern bow for fishing from land if you wish to preserve arrows. It cannot be used while swimming, however, so it's limited thrusting range from the shoreline can make spearfishing a bit time-consuming.
Because you can thrust the spear at a low angle and run at the same time it is very well suited for hunting lizards, rabbits, and birds, unlike weapons like axes which force the player to stop completely while swinging them towards the ground.
Weak spears are one the best items in the game for killing deer. They can kill deer in one hit when thrown.
Throwing a weak spear does the same damage regardless of strength. If does not matter if your strength is 10 or 99, it will do the same amount of damage.
Throwing a weak spear or an upgraded spear will both do the same amount of damage.
The upgraded spear has slightly longer range than the weak spear when used in melee attacks.
Weak spears can be found in ponds.
You can carry both the upgraded spear and weak spear at once.

Upgraded Spear

The Upgraded Spear can be crafted or found in the game. There are some specific locations where you can find them, primarily in or leaning against cannibal huts.

The Upgraded Spear is a formidable fighting weapon, as well as a very useful hunting and gathering tool. As it is one of the few offensive weapons that can be swung while sprinting, it is a very effective weapon for kiting (hit and run). The largest downside is the spear contains no capability of blocking, and therefore in the face of large groups of cannibals, the player risks taking a substantial amount of damage if flanked or taken by surprise. The Upgraded Spear does area damage forward in a much smaller width than axes or katana, but can stab through multiple enemies at once if properly lined up.
The Upgraded Spear is best for one-on-one combat with single cannibals as it lacks area of effect damage.
The upgraded spear has the longest melee range of any weapon in the game. It has slightly longer range than the weak spear when used in melee attacks.
Throwing upgraded spears and weak spears do the same amount of damage, to prevent losing your upgraded spear, consider using weak spears for throwing. All spears do the same damage regardless of strength. It does not matter if your strength is 10 or 99, it will do the same amount of damage.
Upgrades on weak spears do not carry over when you upgrade it to an upgraded spear. It also does not remove the upgrades. Simply craft another weak spear and the upgrades will return.

Upgraded Rock & Stick
Rock

It can be crafted from the player's inventory with one rock and one cloth. Once crafted, it will become a separate tool from regular rocks.

The Upgraded Rock can only receive glass upgrades. It can be set on fire using the lighter, but doing so will cause instant burning damage to the player.

As a weapon, the Upgraded Rock swings very slowly and consumes a lot of stamina, but deals a fair amount of damage and has a good knockdown power. Despite not being a very interesting tool or weapon, the Upgraded Rock is a bloody way to kill enemies lying on the ground.

Stick

The main purpose of the Upgraded Stick is to be used as a fire torch. It can be set on fire with the lighter to create a useful light source. However, it may be possible to see further in the dark without it lit. A burning torch will also negate the cold and wet status. Once crafted, it will become a separate tool from regular sticks. Collecting any clue item or equipping any other weapon will put out the fire.

As a weapon, the Upgraded Stick only deals little damage to enemies, but is quite effective to block and can be used to set enemies on fire. It swings very fast, and consumes little stamina, making a fairly good gathering (especially for teeth) and hunting tool. It can also be upgraded.

When stabbing the ground with it, the player has a small chance to reveal a small rock or some coins. Because of this, using the upgraded stick to open suitcases has a chance of revealing coins as well as opening the suitcase.
Club & Crafted Club
Club

Clubs can be looted from most male regular mutants, all male painted mutants and all leader mutants. It is decorated with body parts such as two hands, a dead snake wrapped around the grip and three claw-like objects in the mouth. In the previous version of the game, the decorations were slightly different, and included braided female hair along with a blue cloth piece.

It is a slow weapon, but deals significant damage to enemies. Along with the turtle shell and the Rusty Axe, the Club has the highest block level possible for a weapon. Using it to block will negates any damage from enemies' attacks, even from powerful mutants. The club can receive upgrades as of v0.72.

Crafted Club

Just as the cannibal Club, the Crafted Club is a slow weapon but deals significant damage to enemies, and is very efficient to block, it has the same block as the modern axe and the crafted axe. This weapon can also be upgraded, just like (as recently) the enemy's club.

Rarely, tougher cannibals like painted cannibals can be seen wielding a Crafted Club that can be looted upon death.
Tennis Racket
The tennis racket deals the same amount of damage as the upgraded stick. It can also be used to block. It is not a very powerful weapon, but the racket swings are very fast and consumes only a small amount of stamina, allowing the player to fight for quite a while. This advantage also makes the tennis racket an efficient, if unusual, gathering tool. This weapon may be a mildly humorous reference to the tennis players' remains and tennis balls that can be found throughout the Peninsula. With so many tennis balls, it would not make sense for the athletes to not have brought a racket.

The tennis racket can be upgraded, but cannot be combined with cloth to add burning damage.

Unfortunately, the tennis racket cannot be used to hit tennis balls. (-1)
Chainsaw
The chainsaw is a unique tool and weapon that does not require stamina to use and only requires holding down the attack button to operate. It is powered by fuel, which can be found in various locations around the Peninsula. In single player, fuel respawns once you reload or reenter a cave. The chainsaw is currently the best tool for cutting down trees and removing tree stumps. Cutting down trees with the chainsaw does not raise your strength and athleticism as much as using an Axe.

The chainsaw can be used as a weapon though it's best suited for tree cutting. During combat, it will stun cannibals very frequently though it doesn't have high damage. On normal mode, it seems to be much more effective than the harder modes in the game. When attacking, it will slow the player's movement speed to about half the speed of walking. This can make it difficult to chase cannibals or 'keep the pressure' on. Its range is quite good though it has almost no area of effect (AoE) damage. One of the major challenges of using the chainsaw during combat is that, if the player is hit, it stops the chainsaw's attack, so the player has to reset the attack quickly.

In update v0.71, the chainsaw, flintlock pistol, crafted bow and modern bow were enabled for the flashlight upgrade, which can help with aiming these weapons at night or in caves.
