INTRODUCTION
Welcome to The Official Unofficial Paunch Guide! If becoming a master Paunch player is what you seek, I can assure you that you are on the right path. But this path is a treacherous one and requires years of vigorous training and technique. That being said, let's get into the information you came here for. This guide is divided into several parts to avoid a text wall for beginners and to help more experienced players find the specific techniques they might be looking for. Leading into the first section...
CONTROLS
The controls in the game are fairly simple so ill keep it brief:
  • ( W, A, S, D) - as you could have guessed - are for movement
  • (Mouse) Is used to aim your rock cursor and to rotate the camera
  • (Mouse1) is used to throw rocks you have in your hand
  • (F) is used to pick up rocks
  • (X) is used to drop rocks

All of these controls can be rebound in the settings menu, there you can also find options for mouse sensitivity.
BASIC MECHANICS

The most important thing for new players to take away from this guide is this section. Here I’ll go over the basic gameplay mechanics. The game's functions revolve entirely around the boulders strewn across the map.

.5 GUI
In the image displayed above, you'll see all the GUI items you'll see in-game. From left to right you have: Points, Lives/Active rocks, and time left in-game. The Lives section is the main thing here. The yellow dots are how many rocks are on the ground. The yellow dot with grey inside is the Hollow boulder/White rock. If the dot is totally grey the rock has been consumed to spawn a player. If the dot has a white arrow on top that means someone is holding it.

1. BOULDERS
Every match that you'll play, you have 13 boulders that spawn on the map. They can vary in size, shape, and hue, but the most important rock is the white rock/empty boulder. Every rock can be picked up and thrown, and every rock can knock-out your opponent when hit. When you hit an opponent you'll receive a point or two depending. But if the white rock is thrown at an opponent the game will end and you'll win regardless of the points. So don't worry too much about the points, just toss some rocks and you'll do well.

2. LIVES
The lives in this game are represented by the boulders on the map. As previously stated there are thirteen rocks but only 12 of them are spawn-able. Every time you knock out an opponent or gets knocked out you consume a rock to respawn in. The white rock is the odd man out. So new players, keep an eye on the number of rocks left. If all of the circles at the bottom of your screen are grey don't look for more rocks. Face your destiny with some dignity and you might even win.

3. THROWING
I’ll only touch on this briefly here because there is a lot of nuance but the TL;DR is, try to aim your mouse to the enemy player and click, easy as that. If you have trouble with your accuracy, then changing your sensitivity or some practicing might be a good idea. Though some of the advanced techniques might prove useful so keep reading!
COMBAT

THROWING
I've made this a different section because as I stated earlier there is a surprising amount of nuance and skill. So here I'll divulge a couple of high-tier techniques. So the first thing is to never run at your opponent! You become a bigger target closer up and easier to predict. Secondly, kind-of naturally, is to actively run from your opponent. Making you harder to hit and also makes it easier to line up a shot. Thirdly, when aiming, always try to read your opponent and where they might go next. For where they are if you are to throw directly at them, they will most likely change position by the time your projectile gets to them.

ROCK DOMINANCE
Rock Dominance is where you throw the farthest right boulder in the Boulder Counter at the bottom of the screen. When picking up rocks, you will always grab the first with your right hand, and then the second with your left. However, this does not dictate which rock will be thrown first Eg. If you pick up rock 4 with your right hand and then rock 7 with your left hand, you will throw from your left and if the order each was picked up in was reversed, the right hand rock would be thrown. Since the Empty Boulder is the leftmost rock, this is why it is always thrown last when both hands are full.

MIXING
Mixing or fighting in this game is something that even perplexes the masters. Though I think I have some things that might lend a hand. When the opponent is throwing a rock and you tackle them, I think you win the tackle a majority of the time. And if you're holding just one rock I think you might get an advantage. But if you're holding the white rock you tend to lose tackles. But tbh it's all speculation, so take this bit with a grain of salt.
NAVIGATION
Navigation in this game is just as important as throwing in this game. Always be aware of your surroundings and always moving. Strafing left and right to throw off your opponent is a necessity. When on a hilly map navigation becomes much more relaxed because it is intrinsically harder to hit an opponent that is hidden behind a mountain. But, take that terrain to your advantage and use it to out-maneuver and out-aim your opponent. When on the high-ground you have more visibility and are far less likely to accidentally drop a boulder.

Now for some advanced techniques. When moving you can rotate much faster if you mirror your model's (a.k.a. Bob) movement with your mouse. This will make you much harder to hit/predict.
ADVANCED TECHNIQUES
Here I will divulge some of the more advanced techniques utilized by paunch professionals .
1. Parrying - To perform a parry you must first kill your opponent. Then you must locate the rock they are spawning from. It takes about 6 seconds to respawn. Then harness the energy of the sumo and throw the rock chest height at the spawning rock and take down your opponent.
2. Kidnapping - To perform this technique, much like the last you must kill your opponent and locate the rock they are spawning from. But this time the rock must be the last one available to spawn from. Then spam that ‘F’ key so hard it almost breaks so you pick up the rock they are spawning from. This is a very difficult and situational technique that I have never personally performed myself.
3. Power stance - Again to perform this technique, much like the last you must kill your opponent and locate the last rock available to spawn from. But this time stand above it triumphantly. And the true power from your stance will level your opponent as they wake for the last time.
4. Banishing To perform this technique, you must sacrifice your life to take a rock with you to Tamag. When your opponent throws a rock and as it's about to hit you, you must pick up the rock you wish to banish. If performed correctly the rock will be removed from the game.
UNOFFICIAL PAUNCH LEAGUE

Do you think you have what it takes to paunch with the best? Well if you do you have come to the right place. The U.P.L. is an up and coming competitive league for this gem of a game. Several of the top players in the world and myself take part in annual world championship tournaments and some smaller belt tournaments in between as well.
