the cold which decreases temprature to -50 really breaks the bones of the primitive village.
I would offer to care for ill people they are really a problem.
I had to use the steam cores for hothouses, so i had to rely on medical posts, i had 5 of them in the 1st ring, though it was not enough...
When the second wave of the lords arrived i was frustated; there was 110 sick beds present but there were 180 sick people total. when scouts arrived with extra steam cores i built 6 infirmaries and they really saved me untill i got houses protecting from ill making cold!
i am really grateful @nwgilstr.
i am still not sure whether i should banish the arsoner that burnt the house of the lord.
the days betweeen 6 and 14 were the worst experience of the gameplay for me, you really feel desperate. but trust your hard working frostpunk experience. now its time for a goood sleep :D
But I would say to those who fail that you should follow it to the point.
To combat the sick, rush house of healing after soup. You could go infirmaries, but you'll be tight on research. HoH lets you double your healing capacity AND research speed without wasting almost 3 days of research. The only caveat is space if you're saving the lords.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the guide! I didn't realize that (A) you could leave homeless for so long, and (B) the Day 2 folk were ALREADY starving. Once I had prepared food for them, it was so much easier to adapt.
They seem to have patched leaving homeless. As soon as you want to build hothouses, you will get a demand to build housing for everyone within 24 hours. You MUST do this.
So only build one hothouse and then tents day 3. Once the threat has passed, you MUST disable the tents. They won't be heated, so if people live in them, they will die.
They also tweaked sickness. Don't do the cookhouse to the East, but under the West lab, within range of the gen. Too many sick will prevent coal gathering from being effective during the cold snap. Try to exhaust the East piles during the first reprieve.
Do soup after the medical laws (you may need arena first). Yes, discontent, but it's A LOT less than starving. And, again, too many sick for reliable 100% hothouses.
4. Before the east coal pile runs out, make sure to build a second gathering post next to the west coal pile. Similarly, make sure to set up thumpers and gathering posts near the steelworks BEFORE your coal piles run out. Running out of coal this way was the cause of a few of my losses.
5. Instead of saw mills, I went for the wall drill right after hot houses. One wall drill provides more wood and uses less men than two saw mills. I did get some saw mills in the late game to help with upgrading to bunkhouses.
6. I delayed steel works till after beacon. Getting your wall drill, thumpers and beacon online is more important.
7. Probably go for infirmaries instead of a bunch of medical posts. You'll be swimming in steam cores by the time you need them. I personally did go for medical posts though. Perhaps the smaller space is enough of an advantage.
1. I removed a lot of the ends off the starting roads, along with the entire ring around the generator. This gave me enough wood to start a gathering post (on the east) along with all the other objectives. Use your wood gatherers to fill the new gathering post for day two.
2. Instead of having the cookhouse and tech in the "work clusters", you can fit three medical posts, two tech labs, both hot houses, and a cook house inside the inner ring. You'll need to squeeze the cook house a bit, but it's a simple squeeze. Going clockwise, my placement was Hot House 2x, Cook House, 3 medical posts, 2 techs. This means you only need to fuel the steam hub for housing till you can get coal thumpers online.
3. Make sure you don't delay Radical Treatment at all. On day 3 remove extended shift from all your workplaces after 8 am. Then put extended shift back on once you pass the law.
Also after a few days as more refugees came the food was problem again.
Will keep trying but maybe some "random events" (mostly shelter requests) are not random anymore, or there has been some changes.
Anyway thanks for interesting tips listed above.
