The poor ponies would have been fine if the Griffonian Empire had done better, Wingbardy wouldn't have been able to just invade New Marelandia and then cross the sea to Equestria. The Republicans just never attack Wingbardy though, so Beakolini could do whatever the hell he wanted. Which was apparently conquer half of the Western Continent and absolutely ruin both Celestia AND Chrysalis. Insanity, but fun insanity. xD

I've never seen Equestria actually loose the Great War, and am not at all suprised to see it end in Border Gore.
