Infantry Tips
OVERALL TIPS
  • Press F4 to get troop units to follow you. This is good for protection if you are a class such as an assault trooper or an engineer. Holding F4 will send the units away. (You cannot get units to follow you if you are a hero class, as they work alone.)

  • Roll, roll, and roll! If it isn't already, bind your dodge/roll key to ALT. When in the middle of some heavy fire fights, a simple roll can give you a complete edge over your enemy, as you quickly move out of the way, allowing you to shoot them for a brief period. It is honestly one of the best moves you can use.

  • Stick in groups with other squad members when possible to give you the best form of strength. If you're feeling a little brave, try going it alone. This is where rolling comes in handy.

  • If you find yourself low on health, climb into a friendly vehicle for protection if you can. Once the enemies are cleared from the area, you can safely leave and stock up on health.

  • Aiming down the sight in first person view will cause a weapon to go into a scope. This can overall make firing easier.
STANDARD INFANTRY UNIT
  • The standard infantry trooper can be much more dangerous than you think.

  • Your grenades are a lethal weapon to almost all things. While they may not be as damaging to vehicles, a bombardment of them from multiple troops onto a tank can cause not only panic, but for the enemy vehicle to stop in it's tracks to deal with the situation, or even retreat. More often than not you can see AI troopers doing this. Throwing a grenade into a group of soldiers is a standard practice, and efficient.

  • The standard plasma rifle for any army (be it a droid arm to a stormtrooper's blaster) contains a lot of ammo, and more often than not you don't find yourself running out on it. Having a large clip capacity also makes it easier for you to unload bullets into enemies without having to worry about any recoil, as there is none.

  • When engaging in a firefight against other troops, it is a good idea to move left and right frequently, and roll. Sprinting in a certain direction and then doing a roll gives you more distance, too. This will help you get an advantage over the enemy.

ASSAULT UNIT
  • If you did not know already, pressing Q to lock onto a target will make the rocket you have loaded lock onto the target. Doing this on vehicles makes things a lot easier.

  • Lay mines in small doorways to catch the enemy out. Spreading them out in particular places on open maps can be a good thing to catch out vehicles in the middle of a heavy firefight. Mines are also good at catching hero classes in their tracks.

SNIPER UNIT
  • Sniper units are fast and agile, therefore it's easy for them to get from one place to another. This is good for making an escape if your position is discovered.

  • The best way to use your turret is to have it either cover your back or place it on a point for defense. You will be able to hear the turret firing behind you to warn that enemies are near. If you're being overwhelmed by enemy units, deploy your turret and make an escape. The turret leaves them busy while you run. Only one turret can be deployed at any time.

  • Aiming for the head is not a necessity, but it helps. You can usually kill an infantry unit in about 2 shots on any part of their body, depending on their health/buffs/class.

ENGINEER UNIT
  • The engineer is more of a support class than anything, but this doesn't mean their shotgun has no mean, powerful kick to it.

  • Provide first aid and ammo kits to troops accordingly, from the ones with the lowest health/ammo and up. You can also replenish your own supplies using this method, saving yourself in the middle of combat.

  • Use the detpack on doorways out of sight on entrance. This way, you can take down many troops or even trick a hero. Placing detpacks on enemy vehicles can knock a mean punch on them, too.

  • Repair vehicles and supply stations with your fusion cutter! This is essential for your army to keep at it's best. You can also slice vehicles with your fusion cutter, but make sure that you have some units covering your back as you try!

  • On some maps, the fusion cutter can be used to repair an object in the world (e.g. a bridge in the death star, or kashyyk's door winch). Repairing such objects can turn the tide for your advantage.. or if you aren't careful, it can turn it against you.

UNIQUE UNITS (e.g. Clone Commanders or Droidekas)
  • A Clone Commander carries a powerful minigun on his shoulders, aswell as a defense rally that can be distributed to troops. Use the rally in groups of large clones to maximize it's potential. Clone Commanders are best off in groups of infantry to provide support and firepower.

  • The Droideka is a mean machine. Although it has a very weak structure, it's shields can withstand a lot of firepower while distributing it. Use droidekas to either get behind enemy lines and cause havoc among the groups, or use it as a support class for defense. The Droideka's weaponry is best used in first person. I can't stress enough how much more accurate this is.

  • The Dark Trooper is a jump pack class, often mistaken for flight capabilities. They carry an arc gun that can be charged to increase the damage and area of effect. Dark Troopers can be used to jump into enemy lines, causing panic with the arc gun and jumping back out, to repeat. Dark Troopers are best used in open maps.

  • A Bothan Spy carries an Incinerator that does a LOT of damage. If you can successfully infiltrate an enemy group by using your stealth weapon, you can suddenly pull it out and cause mass disintegration. Ashes. Yum. They also come with a few time bombs which can be used on vehicles, turrets, and other such things.

  • Jet Troopers are clone troopers that are fitted with a jetpack, an EMP launcher, and a commando pistol. They are not meant for head on combat, and mobility is their strength. If you can master aiming while in flight, you are sure to make a nuisance towards the enemy.

  • Other classes with recon drones (e.g. wookiee warriors and magna guards) can scout the area in the next room or around a corner for any threats before proceeding. This can be a huge help towards you and other players. Magna guards can also lock onto troops with their missile gun in the same way that assault troopers can lock onto vehicles with their rocket launcher.
Hero Tips
JEDI TIPS
  • When using a lightsaber throw, make sure you line up your targets so that you can get as many as possible. Stand in a position which you think is best, throw the lightsaber, and move yourself in different directions as it is coming back to you to kill more.

  • Aim for small, crowded rooms to kill off multiple enemies at once. When In a large, open map, use your fast sprinting techniques to get to places quickly and avoid lots of gunfire.

  • Make good use of your push and pull! Push is useful for pushing away crowds of enemies that are swarming you, allowing you to make a safe escape. Pull is also useful for bringing in targets like other jedi, so you can make a swift, and easy kill.

  • Choke is an excellent skill for trapping your enemies, leaving them completely vulnerable to any attack while taking damage over time. After letting go of an enemy, they will drop to the ground, and for a short moment when that is happening, they are open to attack. Use this ability to trap other jedi, and you will have their head in no time.

  • Your dash attack is one of the most useful skills you can use. Whether it be charging at crowds of enemies, or at a single, powerful target. It is sure to do a lot of damage. Make use of this talent.

  • If you are aiming to take down vehicles, try to jump on them in a place where they cannot fire upon you. Be careful when doing this, as it leaves you open to gunfire from other enemies.

  • Use your block when approaching enemies with heavy fire power, or when making an escape.

Other hero classes that use things such as blasters are unique in their own right. I reccommend you try and master them for yourself and see what playstyle suits you best.

If you're getting the hero a lot, don't be a hog! If you have another player with you, press F2 and let them have a try sometime. Everyone's gotta learn!

Jet Troopers were the Meta in Star Wars Battlefront 1, here, not as good, but still fun. Great tips, thanks!

Something to consider too, sometimes a hero is not an automatic upgrade so it's sometimes appropriate to decline, I normally play a-lot of support roles and speciality ones and because on servers finding a Clone Engineer or Imperial Officer is rarer than a diamond I frequently deny heroes to focus on repairing droids or providing mortar support. Like if it's a great hero that can destroy something easily like Mace Windu it's normally worth it, but if it's Chewbacca, I'd skip.

One thing you may want to add. If you get an award weapon (i.e. flechette shotgun, precision pistol, beam rifle) you only get it after you switch to your other weapon (primary to secondary/secondary to primary). This is useful for if you don't like how one of them works.
