1. transportation
Stick to the trees as much as possible when available. many players early on in the game will find that without the right skills and tools, the options for defending yourself against predators are really boiled down to either "run" or "hide". As an infant ape you will be able to hide from predators when needed, but when your character grows your main plans will consists of running for a tree and finding a place (usually a branch) to lie low until the carnivore runs off or gets eaten. However, what the strategy boasts in effectiveness, it lacks in reliability. sometimes there won't be any trees in sight, or there wont be any tall or branched out enough to escape animals as agile as you. In order to avoid this situation, navigating mainly through trees in early game instead of on ground is the best choice both in the starter area and in more complex habitats.

2. taking advantage of weakness
Using elders (mainly females) as your main explorer may seem odd when beginning the game due to their lack of mobility compared to adults and overall nerf in stats, but they are very useful as expendable scouts due to their immunity to fear. As for why you should use female elders, male elders still have the ability to mate (something females do not have). however, they do not gain as much EXP as adults, so if your looking for a way to earn more profits from evolution, i would suggest scoping out the area with an elder, then going in as an adult and perhaps with a few clan members.
3. skill tree
One of the more complex systems in the game is the skill tree, as it contains many options for evolution that can make players (usually newer ones) stumped on which one to pick due to the usefulness of each skill. Although its impossible to say if there's any "good" or "bad" skills, some are much more important than others. I would recommend spending most of your points in the beginning on senses and defense. then as you go on, spec. into more skills until you have the set that suits you best. the most useful skills in my time in the game have mainly been ones that either involve the intelligence sense, or clan and self defense.
conclusion
so, here you have it. the three main things you should focus on in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Although this is just my personal experience, i hope that this guide can be of some use to people who are just stepping into this game.

Bro sends elders to their death lmao. That does sound like a interesting tactic for scouting areas though. One time I used 2 males, one of which was an elder so I could use them to discover an area and then the younger male would conquer. My preferred strategy though I find is sending 1 male out with some weapons (after I've pair the monkeys together and they have had the max amount of babies).

there are bad skills, the tachypsychia skill makes you fail more because more time is allowed, meaning you will have to get it on point when you get that sound cue and visual cue during a fight, which is stupid but it paves the way for better skills so it is what it is

PRezz1504, there is a kind of fruit you can have your ape rub on themselves to stop the bleeding. try seeing if you can find and get to one of those. Climbing the tree higher should make the cat give up on having you for dinner.
