1: How to be cool with the press of a button.
Salute every chance you get. It keeps moral up, embraces comradery among the team, and idk where im going with that, its just cool...
2: Be the guy known to order the drinks.
Sometimes you just need to satisfy a thirst that can only be quenched by lethal amounts of rum.

Or maybe you just want to goof off...
3: Being a good team player.
Teamwork makes the dream work. No "I" in Team. Ect.

Part A: Teamwork via your guns/utility : Teamwork can make anyone cool. Helping people over the course of the mission can really help the overall fun of the mission. Teamwork can change a bad mission into a good one.

No matter what the trouble is, as long as you have some good teamwork, you will usually prevail.
And that makes a team cool.

Part B: Perks : Sometimes perks can help out your fellow dwarves more than it can help you, which is a good thing.
Such as the Field Medic perk, did your coworker just eat an exploder? No worries, as the field medic perk will help them back on their feet almost instantly. Almost everyone runs this perk and almost everyone will appreciate you using this perk.

Or maybe you want to prevent a fellow teammate from going down, if thats the case, then the Shield Link perk is just for you. If some ones shield is down, or even your own shield, if you are close to some one, your shield recharge rate will be faster. You also have the ability to boost someones shield for a short duration, this can be good for a hasty retreat through some bugs, or possibly a final stand.

Part C: No team? No worries just make one! : Some people prefer going alone, which tends to be very dangerous in those dark caverns. Sometimes you just need to make your own team.
Bosco can help with that, a little killing machine in a tin box. Bosco can provide all the support you could ever need, from shooting things, to mining some ceiling ore, to reviving you, and Bosco can even deliver a coordinated airstrike every now and then.

And then there is Steeve, by using the Beast Master perk, you can tame any variant of the glyphid grunt to help you out.
4: Green Beards can be cool too.
Another way of being cool is by being open to Green Beards, they are new to the game just like you probably were a little while ago.

And not being the guy that has "Promoted Dwarves Only" or something like that in the lobby title...

For those people out there who host or maybe the people who do this ^ , if you are nice to greenbeards even if they barely know how to play, chances are high that, they will look up to you and learn. People tend to listen to friendly people. If they have a friendly host they have a better game, and they learn more, which usually makes the game session overall better.
Its a win win all around.

And if you are a greenbeard reading this, its a 2 way street, if you are nice the host/non-greenbeards will usually appreciate that as well.

And im not saying any of you have to bend over backwards for people, there are some people who will just not be friendly regardless.
5: Now wait just a second. Don't push that red button yet.
When you are about to extract, most of the time you have to push the big red button...
I know its tempting but don't push it yet.

If you are host and you are about to push that big red button, ask your fellow teammates if they are ready first, they could possibly be looking for that spec of jadiz in the wall they spotted a second ago.

If you are a non-host, ask the host first if they want to leave, they may want to explore the rest of the cave or start a machine event for extra loot.

All in all just ask if everyones good to go, that makes you a cool guy.

6: No dwarves left behind
When you get done with a mission, chances are high that you have to trek back up to the drop pod to leave, if some one goes down, you would be a cool guy if you go back and save them, even if it means sacrificing yourself.

It is immensely cool if you manage to save a fellow coworker from perishing in the depths of hoxxes and live to tell the tale.

"There's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die. Follow your heart, and you'll never go wrong." Some guy from a movie or something
7: Sometimes, you just need a little more gu- I mean facial hair... and stuff on top your noggin.
7A: Facial Hair : Just look at this scout, they got themselves a funky little beard there. Pretty cool.

Or what about the engineer with his funny stache from the hit video game "faster than fast" . I don't remember what it actually is called but you probably get it.

Or maybe you want some tentac- can i even say this, or am i going too far?

Or maybe you want something a little more festive?

There are lots of options to choose from, pretty much 90% of them will be cool.

7B: Apparel : Almost all the armor types in the game can look good as long they are paired with a good hat/helmet. Sometimes the apparel you wear can warrant you not having facial hair, it still can look cool.
Like Gunner over here in their fully enclosed armor.

Or maybe you want to look like you are wearing an armored hazmat suit

Or maybe you prefer no brain protection at all.

As a final note, everyone has their own fashion sense, as long as you get something that you like, thats cool too. As long you have the confidence to wear it, that is ultimately cool.
Comments/Suggestions
While this guide is mostly done now, it is still open to suggestions, if you do want to suggest something that would fit in nicely, leave it down in the comments, i will try to look at all of them. However i will not be looking at this guide as much now that its mostly done, as i want to make another here soon.

Also feel free to call me a dummy or something as I am not the brightest dwarf in the pod.
If something I put down didn't make sense because I can be bad at describing things specifically. Miscommunication happens here and there and I don't want to/be misconstrue(d).
So if any yall thinks there needs to be clarification somewhere, slam it down in the comments as well.
Epilogue
There are other ways to be cool and everyone perceives "being cool" differently, so this guide you are viewing may not be 100% accurate for every lobby.
Also keep in mind that management does not pay you nor does company insurance cover you when saluting in the middle of a swarm, on top of a Dreadnought that is still alive, nor right in front of a Bulk detonator that is either still alive or dying. I do not take responsibility for such consequences.

Anyone who are in these screenshots, other than me, are to stay anonymous until told other wise, hence the covering of names. I do this mainly out of respect of privacy.

I would like to thank a friend who helped me in the process of gathering some of the screenshots in this meme guide.
I would also like to thank anyone who supports the guide, whether through a like, comment, or even suggestion.

Anyways now that you are here...

Honestly, in my opinion saluting is the sticking point where "cool" is concerned. I'm willing to forgive any greenbeard who might not be playing their class's role properly if they salute back at me. I also think it's important to salute a player after you revive them. Being downed repeatedly in a mission can start to feel like you're letting the team down or letting them carry you, but if a teammate salutes after reviving you then that can go a long way in making you feel like you aren't a burden. Everyone gets downed from time to time, what's important is to get back on your feet and keep pushing through. Rock and Stone miners!

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a good teacher so i tend not to teach or babysit - i occasionally give pointers if they're cool. That'ts not your responsibility; I agree with that Mrnousak. Once again I don't think your opinion is a big problem; I just wanted to give my two cents R&S all <3

To touch on the Green Beard discussion below: I understand where Mrnousak is coming from. He gets joy from autonomous teams. I've def had teams like that so no i understand the joy of the efficiency. Furthermore I don't think It's a problem bc a lot of ppl dont mind new people so there's always lobbies for them. Only point I'll add against this method is that some more higher level players wont join bc of these lobby names bc they disagree
I think the reason I've always played with Green Beards is bc we need them. Without new players the player base will die. This might be a little exaggerated but new people in the game are what grows the community and allows us to play this game for years and years. I've def seen some dumb, but funny, things that Green Beards do that can be annoying, however when the team dies It's all of our faults.

Yes the lobbies can be more toxic on average because their expectations arent met and someone doesnt do anything, but they can also be less toxic because theres less source of frustration from people failing things, taking too long, and time being wasted. But again theres no reason to flame and mock someone just because they make their own lobby with perfectly valid and reasonable requirements. Its part of everyday life wherever you go. Even if someone went full ham and asked for 50 things that noone can meet, then what? Just dont join the lobby, it doesnt hurt you in any way.

I've seen more people ridicule others in these "x lvl + only" lobbies than just random lobbies, which isn't a lot in the first place as the drg community as a whole is great, but still.
Anyways I am glad you are willing to speak your mind, even if we don't see eye to eye.
Mrnousak 24 JUL 2022 a las 13:34
But I am gonna keep putting as high requirements as I can get away with because it means smoother missions which is what I relish in and love, no matter if its hazard one or edd and I will continue flaming people who say its toxic to make my own lobby and play how I want without bothering anyone else.
Mrnousak 24 JUL 2022 a las 13:34
If others dont like it they are the bad ones, not the people who set their requirements and dont bother, ridicule or bother anyone else. You dont want to see them thats perfectly fine, but even if every lobby is with a requirement its not a reason to hate on the people who put these requirements up. Make your own group and teach 3 other greenbeards. Also arbitrary number not being the best doesnt mean you cant use it. Higher level = more experience = better players = bigger chance of the mission going swiftly and smoothly, thats just an undisputable fact on average. If you dont care about that GREAT, you are gonna be happier with the game then me since you are not as picky and hard to please.
DRplays  [autor] 24 JUL 2022 a las 13:21
I'm not saying you gotta carry people, i'm not saying you gotta do anything, you can keep setting your requirements if you choose so, I don't control your life.
Others may not like it though, thats all.
I personally just don't want to see countless lobbies with "X lvl+ only" and all that other junk, it makes the game feel hostile towards newer players.
An arbitrary number isn't always the best way to gauge how good they are, some people pick up fast, others slower of course but still.
Its not about their number, its about their will to work together to win, they don't have to be good at the game for me to still have fun.
Just like in real life your co-workers can range from good to bad as well, its just part of the fun/challenge for me guess idk. As long as they are not purposefully trying to fail the mission that is.

I don't want a blue lvl sub 20 joining the lobby and then leaving cause they are afraid of a kick,
I want them to stay.

Im not a charity to spend time teaching other ppl how to play a game, I enjoy smooth and efficient games so I dont play with new people, how is that toxic, unreasonable or poor behavior is truly behind me but its a popular topic from idiots like you especially in the drg community, people refusing to carry you because they put in effort to learn.
