How to fix the freezing/lagging in Metal Slug!
Step 1. Open Run and roam appdata (Press Windows Key+R)











Step 2. Click appdata (Located near the top of the window)






Step 3. Search Mslug3 in the search bar of appdata then open the folder







Step 4. Right click "UserDefault" and open with notepad












Step 5. Search the document for both the default resolution and the resolution, change both to 640 x 480 then save and close it.











Step 6. Next right click UserDefault and enter properties.













Step 7. Check "Read Only" then apply it click ok and you're done!

I had the same problem and it pissed me off for a while, Metal Slug is a great game and people shouldn't be missing out on the awesomeness!

I see that you only change the resolution to the minimum possible, the game plays well both in 800x600 (the official minimum) and in 1080p, although the curious thing is that in other lower resolutions it does not look as good, which seems more like a problem of the developer itself that he didn't know how to optimize the port, it's a shame that officially after several years, SNK hasn't done anything to fix all the metal slugs that are on Steam, I currently play them for free on PC thanks to Amazongames, but GOD, I remember that playing the pirate metal slug on an emulator on a PC that was 1000 times less powerful, the game was going at 1000 and in coop.

I could play multiplayer when I did it. Sorry that's happening for you, man. I haven't played MS3 for over a year so I wouldn't know how to help you. Sorry, man.

It looks like a great solution, but it literally ruins multiplayer mode. I choose multiplayer mode and it somehow redirects to single player.

Yeah of course, I don't mind. I just made the guide I didn't discover the fix. I'd take better screenshots though, these ones look crap. :D:

Setting it to "Read only" causes bugs like crashing and unable to switch between multiplayer&single player.

The character use count is stored in there and can't be updated.

Be aware that this will prevent you from getting a lot of the achievements.

Well, I guess your solution works for multiplayer.
Seems I might have to change that xml file attribute differently for solo, and multiplayer.
