gluing it back is not good idea imho. Sensors must be at the exact same spot for accurate tracking. Which you can not propably do with glue.

tbh that looks like a clean break; assuming you can get the circuitry stuck back together I bet you could glue the plastic shell in place with some superglue

index are not much of an upgrade from the vive wands, the index are not as tanky as OG vive wands or the oculus quest controllers
