The flare is like a compromise between the two, both distance and wide lighting but only lasts like a minute or so.

Anyway! The flashlight is hallways and narrow passages. The glow-stick is more for open areas.

I actually hardly ever used the flashlight during my playthrough of overture, glowstick is just so much better
