Shadowman Cadeaux Guide
By Unseen
Hello this is my first guide an index in the order from start to finish by level of all the cadeaux in the game.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/n64/198601-shadow-man/faqs/78599

Why am I making this faq? Well I love this game and I've beaten 120 dark souls twice (well 3 times now thanks to me replaying again to find all the cadeaux) once on n64 and once on pc. The games fantastic and one of my fav horror games ever made. But I was never able to get a full health bar and it always bugged me. I couldn't find a cadeaux guide online either so I thought I'd just go ahead and make my own since this game is so great. A true classic. And I'd like to help anyone devoted enough to wanna perfect this game.

I'll start by saying, its easier to try and get them all as you collect the dark souls. If you wait till the end of the game after 120 dark souls, you will have easier items and weapons to help, but they will be scattered and in unusual places now and a lot harder to find them. Just letting you know.

Hopefully if you are at the end this guide will help. I'am going to number the cadeaux by appearance. If a certain power or upgrade is needed, I will address that as we go along. I will also number them by level as well.

I will be doing the levels in the order of progression for less confusion. I will list when it is the best time to go back and resume the index of cadeaux from there.

Also I'am making this walkthrough simply because I couldn't find any others. It won't be perfect by any means but it will be a cadeaux guide.

============================================

So if you followed this guide https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/n64/198601-shadow-man/faqs/78599 you should have 500. There are still 12 more cadeaux out there, I may add an extra section for the extras in time for all those who have to get EVERYTHING. And with a game this good I can't blame you if you do.

Use this guide all you want and feel free to share it and spread it around. But least give me the credit, don't take credit for a guide you didn't write.

The link the original poster posted was very helpful for me, it should be helpful for you. It includes a rar with fixes, as well as maps. Altho it doesn't have the liveside maps (besides louisiana) it has some very helpful ones of deadside. If you want I would try and get it. Make sure and give whoever the proper credit I didn't have anything to do with this link just promoting the people who did since it was very helpful.

Well congrats and have fun, this is one of the only full guides I've made, cause shadowmans one of my fav platformers of all time.

Also the images used here are not mine, http://www.yiya.de/games/shadowman/ owns the maps, they were very helpful so feel free and give them some credit if you want.

And yes very familiar with the remaster, probably the best remaster ever made. But the horror mode was grueling and I wish so much content wasn't locked behind ridiculous feats like find the damn teddy bears. Which is dependent on glitches and exploits that are mind numbingly tricky to pull off. But if you can actually complete them you will unlock mikes apartment and pong. I think its bs and those extras should be available to everyone for more manageable unlocks like all govi's.

The experimentation rooms? That's a new level and is pretty much suppose to be confusing as its added content, and has a new weapon. But what I found worst of all about the experimentation rooms was the seraph queen who is a real pain to defeat. Besides legion in the new horror mode, nothing beats her as a ridiculously challenging boss.

Keep at it experimentation rooms has become one of my fav asylum levels. I'm just disappointed they didn't make any new trial levels. Love the ancient voodoo atmosphere of those levels.

Yeah, I was actively dreading Lavaducts (it's ok until you get Nager, then it becomes a confusing mirror of itself) although if you've not played the remaster you may not have experienced the horror of the new Playrooms map....

...which is a maze wrapped in a labyrinth wrapped in a cheese sandwich (folded in half five times). Holy hellfire, it’s massive, convoluted, intricate and I have absolutely no idea how to navigate it. I just blundered through randomly opening stuff, now going back through trying to locate the same rooms again seems almost impossible. I challenge anyone to make a map of that place!

Anyway, thanks again for the great resource, I just used it to chart a simple route through Temple of Blood too, which I also always found confusing as hell, but not this time! :squirtyay:

You're welcome and yea temple of prophecy is probably my fav level in all of shadowman for the atmosphere. Feels very ancient and timeless, but creepy at the same time. The level I always had the most trouble with tho was the lavaducts. Before I looked at this map the lava ducts were always a major pain for me.

The map you provided for the Temple of Prophecy is an absolute life-saver. That level drives me insane, half a dozen full playthroughs over the last 20 years and <still> I get hopelessly lost on that map, so being able to finally plan a route was awesome. Remaster or not, this is still an excellent resource. The site those maps came from is dead, by the way, so you're the last word when it comes to maps like these! :spazwinky:

Thanks for this.

Thanks for the compliment, of course now that shadowman remastered is out this guide is kinda old and useless and some of the cadeaux are in the wrong places now. But people can still use this for the old pc version and n64 versions of shadowman if they want.

The images are a good reference too, but their not mine the link at the bottom should direct you to the map maker, if its still up.

You have put a great deal of work into this guide. Well done and congratulations for being so in depth. This is one of my very favourite games of all time. I used the guide briefly to check if there were any Veve in the first Asylum, but will most likely be referring to it later if I can't find all the cadeaux on my own. I have completed the game several times some two decades back and I'm amaze how much I remembered. Trying to 100% without any help but I'm sure I'll miss one or two and may use the guide on a second playthrough for a checklist. I play a very different level order but may follow yours next time. Thank you again. This guide must have taken you a long time, and you have done a great job.
