This guide is to help you alieviate lag issues with AMD/ATI Radeon and Nvidia video cards. In the guide we will be adjusting settings in AMD's Catalyst Control Center (CCC) for Victory: Age of Racing in order to boost your Frame rate to a more playable level.

Intro
As you may have noticed, when racing with more than a few players your frame rate may drop dramatically. After the steam release of the game it seemed that my HD 6900 2GB was not enough so I started to play with Catalyst Control Center (CCC). After many test races, I figured out how to fix most of my frame rate issues. This guide is for AMD/ATI video cards, however I would reccomend mirroring these settings if you are having issues on an Nvdia Card.

Note: Different Hardware may make certain CCC settings more or less effective, please leave a comment with your hardware and how well it worked for you along with any additional tweaks you did to get it running smoother

ATI Catalyst Control Center
Here we are in Catalyst Control Center! Navigate to the "Gaming" section on the left navigation bar, then click on "+ Add" below "Application setting" (Picture would be good here) A file browser will then open. Navigate to your Victory: Age of Racing installation folder, which by default for 32 bit operating systems is C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Victory while 64 bit operating systems must navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Victory after navigating to the proper folder, select Victory.exe Now all settings for the game will only apply to Victory, instead of globally.

Note when setting up your application specific settings;
  • Set edge-detect before setting Anti-Aliasing to 12x otherwise the option for 12x won't show up.
  • You can't go higher than 12X for the Anti-Aliasing.
  • Set Multisample, other option may cause driver faillure and game freeze/crash. (What is the other option?)
  • Follow the exact setup since it's pretty much the max setting.

Enjoy the fix now you can run the game at higher settings without huge FPS drops making the game unplayable.
Nvidia Control Panel
Here is a link that explain how to add game to the list just like I did in the CCC.

If someone can take screenshot of his setting in the Nvidia Control Panel using my setting I would apreciate that you contact me to contribute to this guide.
Game Setting
My gameplay time is high and I've experienced many issue and I found some work around till the new shader and graphic update is release.

This is my current setting which make it stable enough to race with 6-8 player in the same race.
Never use Ultra as a video setting for victory because it's totaly useless at the moment and make you lag more than anything else.

My Splash screen option setting are the following:

The hud cause the critical FPS drop as the Shader of the game are unstable the hud is a major factor of lag. (mostly the live User position when it move tomuch you get heavy lag)
My suggestion is to turn it off for Online race you will notice a significant performance change and your FPS will stay stable with a lower range of variation.
Little Note keep your mouse pointer in the middle of the screen when the race begin or the hud will stay up if it's on edge.

Shaun, I've found that turning off the AA in the game and putting the Nvidia AA up seems to help at least a little, not much but it's something. I still get like 24 fps in races though.

Ah okay, makes sense though since a lot of the settings on the Nvidia control panel are different compared to this. I believe AA settings are a lot more different on Nvidia's control panel, so that might be it too.

Quillion has an Nvidia card but I think these setting doesn't work as good on an Nvidia as it does on an ATI don't ask me why, I've never been a fans of Nvidia for some reason.

(MegaBuilder) Seems that doing nearly (since I can't change them exactly to the same) doesn't help at all for me on my Nvidia card. Anyone else have this same issue? I have good enough fps @~25 for a full race with six people to be able to do well-ish, but anything under 25 is pretty hard to control. (GPU - GTX 460)

(SGTPhilly) thks heaps m8, it helped immensely, i lost a few races because of freezing and drop outs, i have AMD 7870 2gb, AMD 8520 8 core CPU and 16 GB's RAM so could not understand the problem, running heaps better, a BIG THKS!
