Hey there,

It took me a while to fix this game, but thanks to burnintrub3r on the Burnout Discord server and sopme talented modders, there is a fix for the following crashes:

• Game crashing at first launch, after the intro video, when the letters DMV appear on screen
  
• Game crashing when opening the pause menu at any time
  
• Game crashing when finishing any race or event

These crashes are caused to the game's feature that uses the webcam. Sometimes it can be fixed by unplugging your webcam, sometimes not. Here is another way.

Here is a list of common issues that were found after some googling, and thanks to the comments on this guide. These are short to fix, so make sure to check if they apply to you!

• If your Origin's name or any of your Origin friend's names are 20 characters long or more, this will make the game crash. if that's the case, change your name to be under 20 characters, or/and remove these friends accordingly.
  
• If you are using a laptop, or a device with multiple GPUs, make sure your game is using your dedicated GPU

Before trying the mod, you could try these basic troubleshooting steps:

If you have a webcam on your desktop PC, try plugging it or unplugging it.

If you are on a laptop with a webcam:

• Open the Start menu
  
• Type "Device Manager" and open it. Grant admin permission if asked.
  
• Find a category named "Imaging devices" and deploy it.
  
• In this category should be your integrated webcam. Disable it by right clicking on it and clicking "Disable device", then rebooting the computer when prompted.

This is known to have helped some people playing on Laptop. However, this will disable the webcam entirely. If you need the webcam again, don't forget to go back in the Device Manager and enable it again. If this fixed the game for you but you still want to be able to use the webcam without having to enable and disable it everytime, follow the instructions on the Part 2.

Now try to launch the game again. If it still doesn't work, try the following steps:

• On Windows 10, open the Settings app, go to "Privacy", open the "Camera" menu, scroll down to "Allow desktop apps to access your camera" and toggle this off. This will deny every app access to your webcam(s). Don't forget to toggle it back if it doesn't help and you still need the webcam for other apps. If this fixed the game for you but you still want to be able to use the webcam without having to enable and disable it everytime, follow the instructions on the Part 2.
  
• If you have OBS installed, either uninstall OBS, or install OBS VIrtualcam[obsproject.com]
  
  If none of these helped, or if some steps like disabling the webcam helped, don't give up yet! A lot of comments say that the next part helped them.

This mod will attempt to fix the game's issue at detecting a webcam, causing it to crash.

1. Make sure the game is closed
   
2. Download this mod installer.[bpr.bo98.uk] (Here is a virustotal scan of it.[www.virustotal.com]) The installer should automatically find where Burnout Paradise Remastered is installed. If not, specify the folder yourself during the installation.
   
3. After the installation is done, press Launch, then select and install the "Core bugfixes" mod and install it.
   
4. Close the installer, and download this modified file[drive.google.com] on your PC
   
5. Go to the folder where the game is installed (Typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BurnoutPR), then open the "mods" folder. Backup the existing core-bugfixes.bprmod file somewhere just in case, then replace it by the file you downloaded off GDrive.

That should fix the problem. This mod should only fix some bugs and nothing else. Let me know if it works or not.

If this doesn't worked for you and you want to uninstall the mod:

1. Go to the folder where the game is installed (Typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BurnoutPR), then open the "mods" folder.
   
2. Delete the "core-bugfixes.bprmod" file.
   
3. If you open the BPRModder software, it will still say that the mod is isntalled. It is a bug, don't pay attention to it. You can now uninstall BPRModder like any other software.

Don't forget to rate the guide!

• Try using Altercam[altercam.com] instead of OBS Virtualcam
  
• Check the comments below for people suggesting fixes that worked for them, and make sure to comment what worked for you!

• Uninstall the game from Steam, and try downloading it from Somewhere Else.

It feels like Criterion/EA really didn't care much when releasing the PC version of this game. When it works, it's great fun, just as it should be. But this game has so many crashes, it makes it hard to have fun, and now, it's left to us to diagnose these bugs, and find ways to fix them ourselves. I hope to do my part! Have fun ^ㅅ^
