As I said, the hotfixes are 100% obsolete at this point. The main branch has all 3 hotfixes as part of it. I'm a developer who's used this kind of versioning software, and honestly, this is how Subversion, which is what Steam uses, works:
Developer creates a branch, copying all files to it. This is the initial hotfix branch, where they copied the main branch over.
Then the developer makes changes to the software to either add features or fix bugs.
Once the developer is satisfied with the changes and is sure that the branch is stable, they merge the changes back into the main branch. Only the changes are merged, not anything that was not changed.
Once this is done, the branch is retained for history, unless there is space issues. On Git, the branch would be deleted as history is stored in a different manner. The history is important in case issues crop up later and they have to revert back to the branch due to bugs introduced later.
They have done this for all 3 hotfixes, and currently the main branch includes all 3. Installing all 3 of them doesn't actually do anything at all. Just stay on the main branch as they have done this already. The only reason to go back to a hotfix branch is if Hotfix_01a or Hotfix_02a worked better for you than Hotfix_03a, because the main branch is Hotfix_03a.
Unfortunately for us, we cannot go back to the original branch ourselves before the Hotfix_01a now. This branch is lost to us, and it was actually more stable for some people.
>no reason to go through all the steps of downloading all 3 hotfixes, as just downloading the game gets you there to begin with
No pressure here, it's my old habbit to install patches and updates one by one. If you manages effectivelly some other way and it works - godspeed.
>Posting a guide to work-arounds in a bug fix thread is not conductive to geting Atlus to fixing their game.
Man, I'm not pretend to be the Great Savior, I'm not looking for any kind of award. I shared what I did to make a freaking game playable, and I hope it helps others, just as I explained in Intro and Disclaimer . We all have to wait until Atlus solves it. But since the crashes' issues is 4 monthes old, since it complitely blocks the game to be played, and we have no idea when it will be addressed by Atlus, I believe it's conductive to try and do something to play a game with some downgrades, but still make it playable, and wait for developer' solution.
I don’t have such issues , but my guess the problem comes from RAM and/or WinDefender, and I propose this:
- Change PageFile size. It is generally recommended to have at least 32GB TOTAL memory: RAM + PageFile, to minimize memory issues. E.g. if your computer has 8GB of RAM installed, it’s recommended to set PageFile to 24GB. Another general rule for all computers is to set PageFile on your fastest harddrive at least equal to or larger (1х to 1.5х) than your physical RAM. Please follow this guide [mcci.com] to change your Windows PageFile size.
- add G4P.exe, G4P folder and Steamfolder to WinDefender exclusions
- use Process Lasso to change the priority of G4P. Check this incredible guide by Turbo Rob to install and configure Process Lasso
