Introduction to Markov
Markov is one of 6 Assault characters in Evolve Legacy. He wields a Lightning Gun, and Assault Rifle, Arc Mines, and a Personal Shield.

Markov is ranked as "Easy", however, that does not mean your damage is going to excel. His damage in Legacy is weak compared to other assaults; what he does, most other assaults can do better. In this guide, I will explain how you can your teammates can coordinate with Markov to take down any monster.

Lets get down with his Kit:

The Lightning Gun
His Lightning gun will auto-lock onto any hostile wildlife and the monster, and when it does, it will also chain and damage any other nearby hostile enemy. It is a devastating weapon to any nearby Reavers, Poison frogs, and Mammoth Birds. However, on it's own, its not a very strong weapon, especially against a Monster. Drain it's battery and then switch to another weapon to keep the damage flowing.

The Assault Rifle
Markovs secondary is the Assault rifle. A fast firing rifle with a clip size of 48 bullets is laughably bad for an assault weapon, but it can be devastating when aiming for weakpoints/headshots. This weapon will deal more damage to the monster on headshots/weakpoints than the Lightning gun does at all, if you empty your clip perfectly. Use this weapon if the monster is too far away or if they are mitigating damage.

Arc Mines
The Butter to Markovs bread, the Arc Mines. a deployable mine that takes 6 seconds to arm and does a good chunk of damage if the monster isn't careful. 3 can be deployed at one time but can be easily wiped away by Goliath's Fire Breath, Behemoths Fissure, Most of Krakens Abilities, and any wandering wildlife that's nearby. Place them in concealed locations and on top of ledges.
Damage Rotation aka Doing some actual Damage
Markov is not the worst assault, but he's definitely not the best one, either. His kit may sound bad at first but if you coordinate with your teammates, you can pull off some stupidly good damage.

Here's the general rotation:
Step 1: Prepare some mines. Place them in concealed but ease of access areas (like bushes!) and when you do, call them out and ping the spot where it is. When the dome starts, start with 1-2 mines and begin approaching the monster.

Step 2: Zap the monster with your lighting gun. Any health damage done is good. Drain the battery of the lightning gun.

Step 3:
A. If the monster is mitigating, switch to your mines and place one in a spot where you think the monster might go next. Plan ahead; it takes 6 seconds to arm a mine. Then switch to your rifle and fire until the battery of the Lightning gun charges. Aim for the head/weakpoints!
B. If the monster is engaging, switch to your mines and place them close to which ever team mate is getting focused. Not too close! A melee swipe can take out an unarmed mine easily. Place a mine near a large tree or a rock pile where your team mate is roaching. Remember to call out where it is.
Every time a mine bursts, switch back to your mines and place a new one.

Step 4: If you are getting focused, stick to your lightning gun until it drains and swap to your rifle. Remember to use your personal shield when you're low on health or about to take a large hit. After the shield drains, begin to play more defensively. Stick around your mines and use your lightning gun whenever the monster is close until you are safe and ready to play aggressively again.

Rinse and repeat.
TL;DR: Prep Mines > Lightning Gun > Rearm Mines/Assault Rifle > Repeat
Team Compositions and Perks
Markov is a very defensive oriented assault. You and your teammates need to communicate at all times, even in battle, to do sustainable damage and punish the monster for mistakes they make.

Basic Team Composition:
Val/Caira/Emet, Hank/Tech Hank/Sunny, Any Trapper, Markov.
A basic defensive comp. Val provides weakpoints, Hank supports in extra protection, and trappers can slow/harpoon the monster. A very annoying comp for monsters if you can roach well. Caira works beautifully with Hank and Markov.

Damage Composition:
Rogue Val, Cabot, W.Maggie, Markov.
The damage amplifier is very nicely paired for if the monster lands on a mine by mistake. Boosting Markov's damage in any way is very beneficial. Remember that Markov is more rounded for defensive compositions, and that these team setups won't work 100% of the time.

Hunters that don't pair well with Markov:
Any trapper works just fine with Markov, but there's only a couple hunters that stick out.
Slim. Slim is more of a middle ground medic, not very oriented for defense compositions. Markov can hurt Slim in more ways than one: Mines can knock back Slim and stun his firing, and his Lightning can help deduct where support/slim is inside a spore cloud.

Lazarus. A Lazarus composition needs good burst damage. Markov isn't very good in burst damage (unless the monster is bad and trips your mines in a matter of seconds) so you're better off using Hyde instead.

Perks
As an assault, typically you want any perks that improve your mobility to stick on the monster. With Markov, it depends on what your team is running and if you should choose a perk to improve damage, or mobility.

Jetpack Recharge, Movement Speed, and sometimes Jump Height can work on Markov. These are for compositions that don't directly improve mobility, like Caira's speed boost or Sunny's jetpack boost.

Battery Capacity and Damage Bonus are arguably one of the best perks for Markov. Capacity can increase the duration the lightning gun is on the monster, and Damage Bonus can benefit Markov's entire kit, especially his mines!

Quick Switch is a fun perk to use when you want to play more aggressively. Zap the monster, place a mine, and get right back to zapping the monster in no time.

Reload is a good perk for his Lightning gun, not very suited for his rifle since it already loads quite fast.

Health Regeneration/Damage Reduction is good for Lazarus compositions, should you choose to run Markov with Lazarus in the first place.
General Tips and Conclusion
Here are some general tips to help improve your gameplay with Markov, little by little.

As an assault, make sure to kill any hostile wildlife when chasing. The Lightning gun is very useful for doing this, especially with large packs of Reavers, Trapjaws, and bloodthirsty Blitz Leopards.

When chasing the monster, every once and a while place a mine. It may kill/seriously damage any wildlife that may spawn soon. If the monster is running back in the same direction, they may trip the mine by mistake and waste armor.

Make use of your Assault Rifle. Don't rely on damage from it, but from time to time, make sure to pump some lead from a distance. Use is when your lightning gun is down, all mines are deployed, when a weakpoint is available, and when you catch the monster evolving.

Arc mine tip: Conceal 2, Reveal 1. The revealing mine can bait the monster in using an ability (such as Fire Breath) to remove the mine, but when he's after another player, the focused player is already near 2 active ones, and the monster may need to think about how to avoid them. 2 heads are better than 1 (well, in this case, mines, but you get my drift).

When fighting Kraken, the Lightning gun can remove any approaching banshee mines thanks to the arcing mechanic. Release the fire button and then quickly fire again so that the chain can fix onto the oncoming banshee mine.

That's it for this guide on Markov. Any tips applied here can work for Blitz Markov (to some extent). Leave a comment if you thought this guide was helpful or if you have any extra feedback/tips!
