Description
QUARTERING BE GONE!
Are you bothered by the cruel and unusual violence that the game inflicts upon your dynasty's Coat of Arms when someone forms a cadet branch?
Do you squint really hard when you see a massive inconsistency between pre-made houses and gameplay-generated ones?
Does the application of Euro-centric heraldic conventions across the entire world keep you up at night?

If the answer to any of the above is "yes"... then you put a lot more reasoning into it than I did!

I just wanted my CoA to be pretty! ┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌

FEATURES
  • A set of Game Rules that allow you to decide how Cadet Branches generate their Coats of Arms. They can be inherited from the House Head's capital barony, they can keep the Dynastic crest, or they can generate a random design appropriate for the House Head's culture and religion (at least in game terms, don't get me started on how historical CoAs even are in many parts of the world in the first place)
  • An optional Game Rule that imposes an additional Level of Fame requirement on the creation of Cadet Branches. All credit to Neutrino! This is the exact same rule as the one included in More Game Rules.

COMPATIBILITY
  • This mod modifies the following vanilla Scripted Effects: found_cadet_house_decision_effect
  • This mod modifies the following vanilla Decision: create_cadet_branch_decision
  • As such, it is unlikely to be compatible with most mods that try to rebalance/restrict it.
  • HOWEVER, this mod does feature in-built compatibility with More Game Rules IF you place it after MGR in your load order
  • Incompatible with Ironman achievements

REQUIREMENTS
  • Crusader Kings 3, version 1.12.2.1+

@nicedud1: It still does, but is culture-based rather than universal now. If you're playing in China, for example, you won't see any. Originally, the intent behind this mod was to provide a workaround for cases where quartering would be a little immersion-breaking.

@SalahadDin: I will! For now I'm just playing AUH to get familiar with the new CoA logic and see if there's a way I can make the mod less update-breakable.

I love this mod so much. Could the you update it to version 1.18?

are you sure that quartering doesnt exist anymore?

Aaaaaaaaaa! The new dev diary just announced some very exciting things for CoAs! >o<

Between new culture-specific generation templates, conditional context-sensitive generation params and most of the map seemingly being freed from the quartering, it seems like much of what this mod was meant to be a workaround to may not be such a prevalent problem for much longer!

Anyways, seeing that AUH will be touching upon all these aspects, I would recommend that users disable this mod until I can take a good look at the new features and figure out how to update it without breaking everything <3

Ah glad to see you working on this mod again, just found it and it fixes it fixes one of the biggest problems I have with this game, hope your work on it for 1.16 is going smoothly

Just came back from Stellaris myself - looking fwd to seeing this in action again! Lmk if I can help!

Right, okay, looks like Admin calls it from a different script entirely, so the method the mod is using to intercept the feudal houses doesn't catch it.
I'm still a bit busy with our Stellaris mods at the moment, but once the post-4.0 patches stabilise a little, I'll shift my focus to CK3 and try to catch up.

Hey, I tried this out in vanilla, and in Elder Kings II, and it seems to have issues with generating arms for Admin houses (I've had it set to random culture appropriate in both instances, and feudal houses get proper random culturally appropriate arms, but Admins still quarter in both instances).

This mod seems to be incompatible with the "Grant Cadet Branch" mod. Happy Heraldry just doesn't work with both enabled, which makes sense but, is weird because they worked fine with each other in the last patch.

when was the added rule of fame for cadets added? didnt notice it before
