thing is though it's an oldest takes all succession to which there were plenty of heirs

yeah, the succession was male dominated, and I had only daughters. I then designated a female heir. This made me lose... I think it's a bug?

That doesn't seem right. Is your succession male dominated? In that case your daughters wouldn't inherit since only males can inherit. So then your dynasty would be unlanded and the game just ends?
