With all that being said, here we go with the FAQ!

Q: I just beat the Final Boss! Did I beat the game?
A (Part 1): No. But welcome to the beginning of the end of the game! You have officially beat the game when you see credits and hear a new song. To see the requirements on beating the game and getting to the Credits, check the next spoiler.
A (Part 2): Beat the Final Boss ten (10) times total, to successfully beat the game and see the credits. You know you're on your last attempt when a special event happens prior to the Final Boss "fight"...
Q: I'm sure I beat the game. Am I in the Epilogue? How do I get to/beat the Epilogue?
A: Congrats! Persephone is back at the House, and you are now post-credits. My personal labeling is that you are now post-credits but pre-Epilogue.

If you are a new player to Hades, getting to the Epilogue may take some time as it requires a fair bit of effort. However, if you are an Early Access player, the Epilogue quest may unlock quicker than anticipated!

Here are the exact requirements to unlock the Epilogue Quest.

  • Fully complete the game (get to post-credits).
  • Forge at least 6 Bonds with Olympians (max out their hearts).
    • Olympians = Gods/Goddesses who give you boons.
    • Note that Demeter at 6 Hearts (aka getting to her locked heart) DOES count as a "Bond Forged" towards this requirement.
    • Please refer to my other guide if you need help figuring out how to unlock hearts in order to forge bonds!
      https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2238809372
  • Fully learn Persephone/Kore's backstory from both Demeter AND Zeus.
    • Note that fully learning Persephone/Kore's backstory from Demeter requires gifting her at least 5 nectar and talking to her enough times.
    • To get Zeus' perspective, you must talk to him enough times after talking to Demeter (plus you must have given Zeus at least 1 nectar previously).
  • Finish 10 additional runs, with at least one (1) run reaching the Surface and talking to Hades (beating him technically not required, but might as well!)

Those are the requirements! After completing those requirements, Persephone should offer you the Epilogue quest shortly afterwards.

By the way, here's a massive spoiler screenshot as to what the Epilogue Quest is--if you're interested in seeing it. You've been warned, so click at your own risk!

Q: How do I unlock the new Aspect released in the 1.0 patch (and what is it)?
A: The new aspect is the Aspect of Gilgamesh for the Twin Fists (Malphon).

It gives the Twin Fists a new moveset, where a dash-special attack "Maims" the target. The regular attack is also slower but deals more damage (sort of like the Aspect of Arthur for the sword makes the Sword attack slower but deal more damage per swing). The "Maim" status makes the target deal more damage to you (enemy deals 25% extra damage to you), but also take more damage for a few seconds (you deal 50% extra damage to enemy). When the "Maim" effect expires, the enemy takes a burst of 100/175/250/325/400 damage (similar to Ares' Doom mechanic).

To acquire, you simply need to talk to Asterius (the Minotaur) in a mini-boss encounter (only; the Final Boss Fight with Theseus does not work). You may need to talk to him multiple times, depending on your progress on other storylines that also involve him (aka slight RNG to get the dialogue). Standard 4th Aspect unlock requirements apply (unlock Guan Yu Aspect on Spear + invest 5 Titan Blood into the weapon that you want to unlock, then talk to the right person enough).

I believe that currently, after a patch shortly post 1.0 release, you now need to talk to Asterius (still in the mini-boss encounter only) while having the Fists equipped (previously, you did not need to have them equipped).

Q: The Patch Notes says there are two new keepsakes! What are they, and how do I get them?
A:
Keepsake 1: The first keepsake is from Persephone ("Pom Blossom"). You can acquire it after beating the game (post-credits), by gifting her nectar once she has come back to the House of Hades.

The effect of Persephone's Keepsake is: After completing 6/5/4 encounters, a random boon gets +1 level (i.e. a Pom upgrade is applied to a random boon).

Personally, I think this keepsake is pretty busted strong, and typically just run it through the entirety of my runs more or less (you'll basically get ~8 free random poms per run). Note that every small room while you are in the Temple of Styx counts as an encounter for the Pom timer!

Keepsake 2: The second keepsake is from Hades ("Sigil of the Dead"). You can acquire it after beating the game (post-credits), plus a few more runs. Eventually there will be a prompt to view a mini-cutscene in a special location. Afterwards, you can gift Hades nectar.

The effect of Hades' Keepsake is: Your Call becomes Hades' Aid, and you start with 10%/20%/30% God Gauge filled at the start of every encounter. The God Gauge has 4 Bars; using 1 bar turns you "Unseen" for 2 seconds or until you attack. Using all 4 bars (Greater Call) turns you Invisible for 8 seconds (attacking does not break invisibility). While unseen/invisible, you move faster and deal more damage.

Yes, you can use Hades' Aid in the Final Boss fight for a slightly amusing interaction!

Q: How do I obtain Extreme Measures 4?
A: After beating the game (post-credits), do a few more runs, talk to Hades a few times, and then the House Contractor will have the Extreme Measures 4 Upgrade for 100 Gemstones
Q: What are the differences in Extreme Measures 4?
A: (Note: spoilers looks weird when you have a list. There's a lot more than just the next sentence, the rest will show up when you hover over the next sentence!)

Oh boy. This one is real tough. And the music gets INTENSE. I'll break it down by Boss Fight Phase.
  • Hades' First Health Bar:
    • He attacks faster.
    • He gains the Aspect of Achilles ability (he can throw his spear and dash to it).
    • At 66% and 33% HP (his invulnerability moments), he now summons mini-bosses instead of Elite enemies. So far, I've seen the Tartarus Doomstone (Giant Crystal), the Tartarus Wretched Sneak, and the Asphodel Skull-Crusher. I assume all other mini-bosses except Asterius (for lore reasons) are summon-able.
By the way, if you have the Pact of Punishment "Middle Management" turned on, the mini-boss summoned will have its bonus ability (e.g. connected lasers with the smaller crystals, for the Doomstone)
    • Boiling Blood Skulls have a small AoE slow-field (I think it's a slow field, it doesn't seem to damage you). They still explode like normal after 5 seconds (the expanding explosion ring might move faster, I can't say for certain though).

  • Hades' Second Health Bar:
    • He now can heal from Urns if you don't break them (seems like a limit of 2-3 instances of +1500 Health per heal, per cycle of heals).
    • His Sun-Ray move seems to start up faster (unsure if just placebo).
    • He gains a "Cthonic Companion/Call"! He can summon Cerberus (!) to run once across the battlefield and drop flaming rocks (think of them like the Urn Bombs in Tartarus) which deal damage in an AoE. This triggers when Hades reaches ~50% HP into Second Phase.

  • Hades' THIRD Health Bar:
    • Yes, he now has a THIRD stand. He revives at ~75-80% HP (instead of 100%) after defeating him the second time.
    • Your vision is now limited (you can only see in a small area around yourself).
    • Unsure if this is a mechanic or just coincidence, but for the first 50% HP of this third phase, I think Hades tends to stick next to you and fight in your limited vision. At around 50% HP, he cloaks himself and dashes away, outside of your limited vision range. This means you have to dash around to "find" him which adds to the challenge. Careful not to dash into Urns due to limited vision!
    • Hades still uses his moveset from his Second Health Bar, I think the only major addition in this third phase compared to the second phase is the limited vision aspect.

I might be forgetting some stuff or this list of changes might be incomplete, but those were the standout changes from my few times facing him, so I'll add in more details as we get them!

Q: How do I forge a bond (max hearts) with Demeter?
A: To forge a bond with Demeter, you need to complete the Epilogue (beating the game and getting to post-credits is not enough). Then, talk to her a few more times, to unlock and then gift her the final Ambrosia to forge a bond!
Q: How do I forge a bond (max hearts) with (New Character)?
Of course, the "New Character" I'm referring to in the title is Persephone .

A: I got the Persephone locked heart to unlock right after she came back from her second trip to Olympus, but that might have just been coincidence.

From my experience talking with others who have max'd her hearts out, I think it's just dialogue RNG (talk to her enough); unless you get extremely lucky, you'll definitely max out her Codex entry first before she gives you the dialogue which unlocks her hearts. It took me maybe 2 or 3 dozen runs for this to happen (it seems like Persephone stays in the house for ~5-6 runs, and then leaves for ~5-6 runs, from my experience).

Spoiler on what the conversation which unlocks her hearts is about: hover over the next spoiler.

DO NOT HOVER OVER THIS WITHOUT READING THE ABOVE SPOILER, CONTAINS ADDITIONAL SPOILER INFO RELATED TO ABOVE: Persephone asks Zagreus about how good of a mother she is, compared to Nyx.
Q: Are the following achievements bugged?
A:

"Friends Forever" (Max-rank each standard Keepsake) is bugged. I created a new Hell Mode file for fun, and the achievement instantly unlocked in the first cutscene. However, I did technically complete this achievement normally in my gameplay. Note: there have been a few patches to Hades post-1.0 release, this bug may have been fixed.

"Well Stocked" (Buy 9 'Well of Charon' items in one escape attempt) is bugged. The first time I attempted this, the achievement did not pop up. The second time, immediately upon my 9th purchase, the achievement popped up. My hunch is that purchasing items from Wells via level-transition stations (and in Styx) do not count towards the achievement, which seems like a bug. Regardless, just keep trying and you'll get it.

"River Denizens" (Catch a fish from each region) is NOT bugged (sort of). You need to catch a fish from Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium, Styx, and Greece (the Surface) to trigger this achievement. You do NOT need to catch a fish in Chaos though.

"Complete Set" (Earn all Chthonic Companions) is NOT bugged. For most people, they just haven't progressed far enough in a storyline to unlock the "last" Cthonic Companion (specifically; no new Cthonic Companions were introduced in 1.0, you might already have this achievement).

"Something From Everyone" (Unlock each standard Keepsake) is NOT bugged. See an earlier question; there are TWO new keepsakes to earn after the 1.0 update. Assuming you have all the previous keepsakes, once you unlock the second new keepsake, you will get this achievement.
Q: I hear there is a new end-game vendor to spend my resources (e.g. Darkness) at?
A: The new NPC/Vendor is the "Resource Director". You can find him in Hades' Chambers. You need to beat the game (post-credits) and talk to Hades a few times, and then Hades will let you know of this new shade-y vendor! You can exchange Darkness + other resources for cosmetic embellishments to your HP bar.
Q: About Catching Fish (Info Redacted in Title for Spoilers)
The question you likely have: After reaching Greece, and then completing the game (getting to post-credits), it seems that I am no longer able to get back to Greece/Persephone's Cottage! Can I still catch Greece Fish?

A: Yes! When you are on The Surface (the boss room fight with Hades), occasionally a fishing point can spawn there (check top right corner, and bottom corners). You can catch Greece Fish from that spawn point only, so you might not get an opportunity every run to catch one.

By the way, here is what the new fish are, and what they exchange for.
Trout (Common): 1 Diamond
Bass (Rare): 1 Ambrosia
Sturgeon (Legendary): 1 Titan Blood
Help, I have a V1.0 Endgame Question not answered!
Then let me know in the comments and I'll try to help you out if I know the answer!

Please do a Google Search first though; your "Endgame" question might not be "new" from the 1.0 patch, and the answer might already be out there. This guide is focusing on answering FAQ for new things introduced in the 1.0 patch.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember the #1 tip for progressing in Hades:

When stuck, just keep doing runs, keep talking/gifting to characters, and (have some) good luck!

Amazing work on all your guides my dude, read through them this morning and they were super helpful since I thought I had beat the game!

Yes! I checked out that other guide but I've definitely completed the necessary steps. I'll head over to the other discussion as well. Thank you for the response and for all of this!

Hi, you should check out my other guide about Unlocking Hearts/Completing Favors (links are provided at the start and end of this guide).

Funny that you mention Hades hearts are not unlocking, I have never heard of people having issues with that, but in the comments of the other guide some other person recently was also having some issues. Check out my responses there, and if that doesn't help, perhaps one of the recent patches broke something, because I don't think there were/should be any major changes to unlocking Hades' hearts.

[ End-game spoilers ]

Hi Actius, about Hades granting authority to use all companions against him: other than the npc affinity gauge prerequisites listed on Hades wiki, and giving him 5 nectars total... is him even accepting more nectar in the first place (as in heart #3) just totally RNG?

Heart #2 is his keepsake which I have, but he never has an option to gift the next nectar. I've even done the Epilogue quest. I figure like the rest, it's all about just doing more runs and that's all I can do. But, if you have any more insight or even can share your personal experience of obtaining it, it'd be great to hear. Thanks for your help!

Did you just say I can romance the floating medusa head
Actius  [author] 11 Nov, 2020 @ 1:37pm
Nope, not from in-game. Those chibi icons you get on the keepsake from fully maxing (forging a bond) with a character are different.
Mr. Samsa 11 Nov, 2020 @ 12:45pm
Oh, so it's not anything in game?
Actius  [author] 11 Nov, 2020 @ 2:35am
The Chibi Zagreus art is the  (zaggrin) emote you can obtain from the Steam Community Market! (a reward for crafting the Hades badges).
Mr. Samsa 10 Nov, 2020 @ 10:04pm
Is the chibi Zagreus art at the bottom of your article in the game, and how do you get it?
Actius  [author] 22 Oct, 2020 @ 7:41am
I believe Hermes counts, yes. I don't recall the exact dialogue for the last Zeus-Kore interaction, but if Zeus doesn't seem to be giving you the last dialogue, make sure Demeter's dialogue has been exhausted too (I think Zeus "responds" to Demeter's comments).
