I found a Camla in Alma Mountainside on a wednesday, and a Succubus in Man Tree Gardens (thursday) that spawned Aos Sis. It checks out so far.
On the other hand, I've seen a corrupted Frost Troll in the Dry Scar that could spawn Taspukis (corrupted ones, unfortunately). I've also met Taspukis before in this playthrough. That, plus the fact that some variants are referenced in the guide as spawning in supposedly incompatible zones (Camla in a Frost-themed zone, Avalanche in a fire-themed one) makes me think maybe variants can spawn anywhere the base monster can be seen, and it's just up to RNG whether you find them or not.
Unless Taspukis not spawning was confirmed as a bug by the devs, that could explain why people couldn't find it.
